  • Great recording device

As reviewed by Jeff on 11/20/2007

This recorder is my first attempt at recording and mixing music. I am impressed with what I am able to do with it. A couple of things to note from my perspective are 1) The manual that comes with the unit tells you how to use all the features, but if this is your first time ever mixing and recording and you do not know what to do, then it may frustrate you a little until you get more acquainted to the process. 2) Though the unit offers the ability to add pertcussion instruments throughout your mix where ever you want, you are limited to those additions until you are making your final mix and actually bouncing the mix to the mastering track. 3) You have the ability to create you own drum patterns, however, if you have never done this, one could becme frustrated very quickly. Again the manual shows the features but does not clearly explain the process. I recommend joining an online forum to learn most of the features for those who have limited experience. 4) The bass simulator does crap out a bit when playing a guitar and transitioning from a low-to-high string. You're probably better off playing a bass instead. All-in-all I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to those considering buying it.

  • Impressive and Highly-Portable Recording Studio!

As reviewed by Dulcimerist on 3/27/2007

I purchased the Boss BR-900CD digital audio workstation after considering the Zoom H4, Boss Micro BR, and Boss BR-600. I chose the Boss BR-900CD for its sturdy and compact design, high-quality recording capabilities, RCA inputs, and the inclusion of an AC power adapter. This digital recorder is loaded with features, and is ready to use right out of the box! The built-in tuner is very convenient; and the multitude of effects combines Boss guitar, bass, and vocal processing units into a single package! The Boss BR-900CD's features produce a studio-quality CD, from recording to mastering; and even records to first-generation Compact Flash memory! Be prepared to study the manual, but know that it's definitely worth it!

  • Great Beginner Recording Studio

As reviewed by Revent on 5/19/2009

What I love about this unit is that it is easy to use. I was able to write a song in a weekend from beginning to end using just my guitar and the built in mic and master a CD for my friends. I quickly ran into the need for more tracks however and was frustrated with the bouncing process. The first time I did something wrong and it erased one of my tracks and I had to record all over again. The user manual is adequate but not the best. The effects are fairly good if you take the time to tweak them. They are digitally clean. For what this is and the features it has I think it's a fantastic deal for the money.
