Crystal Clear!!!!!!
The sound on this recorder is crystal clear, you could record a trakc of someone breathing at a metal show and be able to hear it perfectly. I have been using this recorder for about 6 months and just recently recorded a live gig with it, 7 bands and about 5 and a half hours of music and had no problems at all. Before this I was using a tascam and it was ok but nowhere near the br1600, great effects and great sound, and it's also not too complicated to use. Best recorder I have used to date.

GREAT RECORDER
This device was very nice when i bought it. I used it for Home Recordings, as that is the main reason anyone would buy one of these. =) It was a little hard to figure out how to use it at first...but thats why theres a very thick instruction manual that comes with it. The drum machine got me though, even though i was reading the instruction manual...i still couldn't really figure it out. But it is a good machine once you master it. The final recording quality is phenomonal, and the ease of burning Cd's makes recording and showing your friends an ease. There are numerous effects, and they all sound fantastic. Boss makes some great guitar equipment, and now they're recording equipment is getting pretty big also. This Multitrack Digital Recorder is a dream to anybody who wants recording studio quality right at home.

It is a great device
At first I thought the sound quality of 16 bit would not match a 24 bit sound, it doesn't but only experienced engineers can hear it. Learn to use everything especialy the Mastering program,it will improve what you can do by 50% or better. No this isn't a hard device to use and the manuel is well written, forget the size of it, just learn the stuff you need. It is nice useing this with my pc studio, which you can do in three ways. I stand by it and I have 48 years in this art.

Boss BR-1600CD Review
I really love this recording device, the Boss BR-1600CD. One of my favorite things about it is that it's technology that doesn't appear to be going away soon, mostly because it can burn CDs so easily and can interface with a computer. I got mine over a year ago, and it doesn't seem to have depreciated in value much.
I basically use mine for home recording, and the effects are numerous and sound great. The quality of the final recordings is fantastic, although I have never used the mastering tool which might make it better.
My only complaint is that the built-in drum machine is tricky and takes awhile, but that's really it.

Boss BR-1600CD Multitrack Digital Recorder
I'm the recording engineer for Staples Motley High School, and we just bought one of these last year to mess around with. I've got to tell you, this thing is amazing. At first we were using it to record our band, choir, and orchestra concerts. It was so nice because I could take it home and cut, edit, and master it. This was an especially nice because I'm a member of all three. Later on I started recording class time, which was really nice for our director because he could give full focus to us, and listen later on things to improve. We also started doing it for practice and improvement for contest. The real excitement happened when I started using it on my own. It was awesome that I could hook up 8 things at a time. I also liked that I can record 16 tracks by myself and then overdub them, so I have my own CD, that's all me. It's awesome. Totally great product by Roland. Highly recommended to all.
