I was completely astonished by the amazing sound quality that I obtained with this pedal! I play several gigs with my buds and weekly at my church and for 3 years I have been looking for a good tone without having to spend an arm and a leg for a great guitar... with this pedal I found it. I play a Takamine G series acoustic (nothing special), but I have found that with running this pedal through my crate tube amp I get a sound that can rival a Taylor. This pedal has a built in acoustic guitar amplifier simulator designed to run through electric guitar amps with superb sound. So, match this pedal with and decent tube amp and you will be in for a treat! I can only imagine what it would be like running a Taylor through it! Excellent BUY!
I am a little hesitant to give out my secret for great jazz guitar tone, but it would be nice if people found out about this. I use this pedal on my two jazz boxes, Hofner Jazzica Custom and my Ibanez artcore custom (both are really great guitars!) after using this pedal i cut through the mix ten times better and i get a clear natural sound even with my humbuckers. using an "acoustic instrument processor" makes sense since after all, archtops are (semi) acoustic guitars with complex tones and harmonics. the anti feedback is useful for my full hollow body guitars, especially the solid carved top hofner jazzica which can really howl at high volumes without the "f hole" plugs it came with. the chorus is cool and gives me an early metheny or scofield like feel if i want it. the reverb is also very useful and sounds just fine. the design is great, another BOSS tank. its compact, convenient and powerful. dont have to bring separate chorus and reverb pedals overall it cleans up the mud and puts punch in all the places i need it, even through my already punchy polytone amp. oh yeah it works great with my piezo equipped breedlove acoustic guitar too. i think it is important to take into consideration the kind of amp you are planning to use this with...i feel a closed back solid state punchy amp sounds great with this pedal... if you have an amp thats very bright and boomy than this pedal can only help you so much. this or any pedal cant create the tone you want but it can help you bring out the tone thats hiding in the wattage. giving it four stars because i really wish it had an onboard tuner and a volume pedal. thanks boss for a great solution for us archtop users who need a richer, dynamic, acoustic sound!
The Boss AD-3 was a great investment. It made my $300 guitar sound like a $1500 guitar! The chorus gives such a full rich flavor. If this pedal had a tuner and XLR out it would be the ultimate beast for its price! Even without that it is a worthy investment until you can by a $1500 guitar. If you need a tuner try the Korg pitchblack chromatic tuner.
