Effective and Easier than Polishes

By Matt

from Red Oak, Texas

These wipes worked very well for me when I polished my complete (extended) set of cymbals. My set of Zildjian ZHT cymbals (10" splash, 14" hi hats, 16" and 18" crash, and 20" ride) are a few years old and they had a fair number of fingerprints and scuffs, and just a general loss of luster. I cleaned a 12" Aquarian china as well - all retained their logos. I also cleaned a 19" Zildjian K Hybrid Crash which found that the logo is affected by these wipes. ... Altogether, I cleaned 8 cymbals, top and bottom, with the Bosphorus wipes. It took about 30 minutes, but they came out looking very close to new. Some of the fingerprints couldn't be completely removed, and of course the few scratches and scuffs couldn't be eliminated, but the cymbals now look outstanding. All surface dust, dirt, and grime is removed. The smell is horrible and you wouldn't want to use the wipes in a small closed room or too close to your nose. Another note you must use some sort of finger cots or gloves. I found out the hard way and my finger tips around my nails were extremely painful and swore after wards.Overall these wipes did what they claim and I highly recommend them for regular cleaning.

So far, so good.

By Burt

from Marfa, Texas

Used them just before my last show and seemed to work as advertised on my Zildjian cymbals that I polish once a month. Washed my hands after use / before playing. Slight residue left on cymbals but otherwise the swipes removed my fingerprints as I reach out and choke my cymbals occasionally or at the end of a song. Need to wait and see if there are any long term effects to the cymbals.

Fairly handy and quite effective

By Ken Denson

from Chesterfield, MO

These wipes worked very well for me when I polished my complete (extended) set of cymbals. My set of Zildjian ZBT cymbals (14" hi hats, 16" and 18" crash, and 20" ride) is only a month or so old, but they had a fair number of fingerprints and scuffs, and just a general loss of luster. I replaced all the heads and completely cleaned and polished up all the shells of the drum kit, so I wanted to get the cymbals looking like new again. In addition to the new "active" set of cymbals, I had a year-old Sabian B8 20" ride that had been replaced (just because I got the Zildjians as a complete set), but it had gotten pretty grimy during the time my son's friend had been borrowing the drum kit. It looked like he had stroked frequently on one of the logos, transferred that paint to his sticks, and then spread that paint all around the outer edge of the cymbal. With the black edge and other white stick marks, the Sabian looked pretty ugly, so I wanted to get it cleaned up, even though it's going back into "storage" for the time being. Altogether, I cleaned 6 large cymbals, top and bottom, with the Bosphorus wipes. It took a long time (and I think 6 wipes), but they came out looking very close to new. Some of the fingerprints couldn't be completely removed, and of course the few scratches and scuffs couldn't be eliminated, but the cymbals now look outstanding. Especially looking at the surfaces at an angle, they now look a brilliant bronze. On the Sabian, I was able to remove all the black paint around the edge, although it took a lot of "elbow grease". I also had to remove the adhesive left behind from the label/bar code sticker that was on each Zildjian cymbal, and those yucky patches of goo eventually succumbed, as well. (I finished off each cymbal with the Kit Detailer polish from a complete drum cleaner kit I have, and that gave the cymbals an extra shine, and is supposed to make them resistant to fingerprints.) The cleaning wipes weren't quite as convenient as I'd hoped, relative to the spray bottles of heavy duty cleaners. My son and I had cleaned his old cymbals with Groove Juice, and that was a bathtub operation, and the rubber gloves I used were largely disolved after they dried out when we finished. I was able to use the Bosphorous wipes on a table with lots of towels. I used a wet rag for the water wash following the scribbing with the wipes, and I had a container of water for rinsing and wetting the rag. You have to use rubber gloves with the wipes, but although it was discolored, I believe the glove will retain its "structural integrity". The smell is mild, but you wouldn't want to use the wipes in a small closed room. I can't say how the wipes would do with corrosion and real discoloration, since my cymbals were still in good shape, but I got the wipes knowing I didn't need them to be extra heavy duty, and they delivered. You do need to be careful if you want to retain your logos, however. I tried wiping the logos on the bottom hi hat, and although it looked like the logos had done fine with the wipes, when I came along with the wet rag, the logos starting coming off. I mostly avoided the logos with the wipes for the rest of the cymbals, and they still look perfect. As another "use experience hint", I had to get the hang of getting the wipes to come through the top of the dispenser and not tear at the perforation before I could get them to leave enough of the next wipe to grab. I would definitely recommend the Bosphorus Swipes if the product description matches what you're trying to accomplish. I was extremely pleased with the results of our "collaboration" on my cymbals.

THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN YOUR CYMBALS!!!

By DrummerBButler2

from Mesquite, TX

For years I have had to deal with the cymbal cleaners that I used taking the logos off my cymbals. Well NO MORE!! These are so easy to use. Just wipe on the cymbal, and wipe off with a towel. THAT'S IT! No rinsing off with water, and your logos are still perfectly intact! THANK YOU BOSPHORUS CYMBAL SWIPES!!
