Overview

BOSE L1 Model II systems are a high-quality, portable amplification system for musicians, singers, DJs and public speakers. This package includes Bose's critically acclaimed B2 bass module, as well as an L1 Model II cylindrical radiator. It is a portable, efficient, professional-sounding system.

These loudspeakers deliver wide horizontal sound coverage and a smooth tonal balance-across the stage and throughout the room. Lightweight and modular, this sleek system fits easily into a car trunk and takes just a few minutes to set up.

Like the original, award-winning BOSE L1 system, the Model II sound system is an all-in-one innovation that replaces conventional monitors, mixers and PA speakers. And this professional sound system is packed with proprietary Bose technologies designed to improve your amplified sound.

The system's breakthrough loudspeaker produces wide, uniform sound coverage of nearly 180 degrees-onstage and throughout an audience of up to several hundred-with little dropoff in volume and tone.

The Model II system also features Articulated Array speaker technology for better tonal balance. The loudspeaker's 24 vertically mounted drivers are precisely angled to create clearer highs and more consistent tone in the room. Even people off to the sides of these stage speakers enjoy well-balanced, detailed sound.

This BOSE L1 Model II system comes with a B2 bass module to ensure more accurate amplification of lower notes for most voices and instruments-including guitars, keyboards and various horns. The double bass package is recommended for use as a bass guitar amplifier, and for kick drums and DJs.

The BOSE B2 bass module is a high performance flexible bass solution designed for L1 Model 1S and Model II systems. It features two 10" high-excursion woofers mounted into a rugged enclosure.

For additional flexibility, the B2 includes a rear panel switch that allows for higher or lower bass levels to be selected based on application or personal preference. Proprietary BOSE technology in the L1 systems automatically senses the switch position of the B2 and provides the proper equalization and power. Interlocking end caps allow up to two B2 modules to be stacked together. Includes protective slip cover and NL4 cable.

Applications include educational and business uses, such as announcements, presentations and training demonstrations for up to 300 people. It is also useful in portable applications within houses of worship, sporting events and many other instances where a PA and bass are required.

The B2 bass module is also ideal for musicians and DJs that require higher bass output and impact. Both will benefit from the flexibility of the three-position sensing switch. Simply switch to "+" for the maximum bass output. Full bands will appreciate the B2 module's higher output, which provides additional bass for kick drums and bass guitars.

The L1 Model II power stand weighs only 24 pounds, and its four retractable legs make it very easy to transport and set up. The power stand also has a simplified control section; the single line-level input can be used with instruments, mics, mixers, laptops, MP3 players or DVD systems.

All of the system's components are also built to handle the road. The loudspeaker has a rugged, reinforced grille, and each package includes padded carrying bags for major components.

Spatial Dispersion and Articulated Array speaker technologies in the loudspeaker produce wide, uniform sound coverage. The 24 small drivers are arranged using Articulated Array speaker technology in a slim, vertical enclosure-creating nearly 180 degrees of horizontal coverage and consistent tonal balance. The loudspeaker's two-piece, interlocking design makes for quick and easy setup, breakdown and transport.

ToneMatch port on power stand for digital audio and power connection to ToneMatch audio engine.

Analog input, trim control and signal/clip LED for line-level analog input via ¼" TRS phone cable. Can be used for instruments or other audio sources like DJ mixers, MP3 players, computers or DVD systems.

Bass module out for amplified bass output signal to one or two bass modules. L1 system automatically adjusts equalization appropriately when bass modules are connected.

Bass line out delivers post-DSP bass signal output. Accepts ¼" TRS phone cable. Use to connect powered subwoofer, additional amplification system or Bose PackLite amplifier with up to two additional bass modules.

Retractable legs provide stability for streamlined L1 Model II power stand and loudspeaker. Four retractable legs fold out of power stand simultaneously for quick setup and compact transport.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II System with B2 Bass Module:

Correction on the previous review. I meant to specify 4 stars. Also note, my review is biased towards specific dual use for both events and home Hi-Fi. To be fair, this is a PA for event and small venues, not home Hi-Fi. Excluding the home Hi-Fi use, I would rate these 4.5 stars if not closer to 5. For a single person carry, this really is the best solution.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II System with B2 Bass Module:

I purchased a pair of these dual purpose for events and for home hi-fi. A few things to consider as I used them during the 45 day trail period, before returning them in the end. 1.) The top arrays do not set up straight vertical. They lean in about 4-5 degrees and then result in pulling the bottom array another degree forward.; The result is it is quite noticeable from the side profile they are not straight. This of course has no functional impact, but really, I find it kind of careless that the engineers could design them to be straight. The arrays are impressive comprised of metal and very solid, yet Bose could not engineer them to stand straight up? This is true of all sets I have seen, mine, plus the store copies. 2.) The Base power amp fan is a concern. The base has a cooling fan that runs which is great, except when the amp is not being driven, it still runs? It is very quiet and that is not so much the concern. The concern is why does it run when not even being driven? Not an issue for event use, but for those that are thinking in a home hi-fi venue, it is a concern because you do hear the fan and of more concern, as they are left on in a home hi-fi setting, what will be the lifespan of the fan running continuously? Will the fans get louder as bearings start to fail after a couple years being left on? 3.) They are dynamic and sound good but you can tell there is something missing in the 150-300hz range and you can tell the top end is missing. I wish Bose offered a HF module that could be added fill in the upper HF. 4.) I heard the new JBL SRX835P side by side to the Bose IL and it wasn't even close. The JBLs exposed everything that was missing from the Bose for a lot less money! I opted for the SRX, with two compromises. The SRX only provides a 60 degree pattern as opposed to the nice 180 degree pattern of the Bose, and the SRX is really a two person speaker to move and setup, whereas the Bose 1L is a one person rig.
