I steered away from this thing for a year or more because I play keyboards and sing. I just figured there was no way this rig could handle or create a true stereo sound from my keyboard rigs. Well, I was kinda right. The way Bose handles stereo imaging and recreation from stereo keyboards is apparently totally different than the conventional means. As much as a tech head and equipment geek as I am, I honestly don't totally get or remember (as it was explained to me) how Bose does it. But the bottom line is ALL the sounds coming from ALL my keyboards is fabulous!!! The vocals are also wonderful sounding. I tested the vocal channel with an SM 58, A Sennheiser e835 and an AKG D5. My only suggestion is to lean towards either the Sennheiser or AKG (or similar) quality. The 58 is ... well .... a 58. Workhorse and will last forever. But the high end crispness and mid range punch from the 835 and D5 most definitely make a difference here. Last - don't let the power rating (watts) scare you away. The SPL / volume is way more than you'd expect - - - or at least way more than I ever expected. And the unit DOES having throwing power and bass punch as well. If you really wanna read up on how and why this rug works and is so unconventional, go to the Bose main page and click on the forums section. Spend a little time reading up on all the L-1 systems and then decide for yourself. Check the units out at GC as well I think you'll be amazed. I never thought I'd own one of these thing. I'm now strongly considering a second one for the big rooms I play. BTW - Damitre (spelling) and Mike at GC Winter Park, Florida - - - TOP NOTCH! Great working with you guys. See ya soon!

  • The Name Says It All...

As reviewed by Chuck on 8/4/2011

I went to the Pensacola, Florida Guitar Center to buy a new guitar. I plugged the Taylor 314ce guitar into the Bose L1 compact sound system. I have the 802 series II bose speakers so I'm familure with what a small speaker can do. Before I went I watched every youtube video review from people already using the L1 compact. why didn't I do that sooner? I read every review here and everywhere else I could find one. To make a long story even longer,..... I bought both the guitar and the Bose L1 compact. What a combination. Taylor and Bose.... a marriage made in heaven. Many thanks to the brave guys that helped me at the Pensacola Guitar Center. I got the deal of a liftime.

  • FANTASTIC

As reviewed by Sid Van Dyke on 2/19/2011

I bought the L1 and could not be happier! It's not only easy to hall around but my Taylor sounds better then playing it through my guitar amp! My whole trio uses it in small places and it also is great that it doesn't take up much room. It's fun when other musicians come in and you watch them looking around for where all the sound is coming from! Sid Van Dyke
