Overview

This pre-war inspired "Herringbone" dreadnought has it all. The BR-160's great sound and great looks are just part of what will make it one of the more desirable vintage-style acoustic guitars in production today. It starts with a solid Sitka spruce top and hand-carved parabolic top braces that respect the prewar forward X-pattern. Indian rosewood back and sides add a strong bass to the spruce top's already full sound. The slim mahogany neck is comfortable and features a dovetail neck joint and adjustable truss rod. Beautiful appointments include a Dalmation style pickguard and mother-of-pearl neck and headstock inlays.

Blueridge is an offshoot of the South San Francisco-based Saga Musical Instrument Company. Blueridge specializes in "traditional" guitars that offer today's player vintage styling with modern performance at a level of quality and price that compares favorably to historic guitars. Each instrument is the result of detailed research and is carefully crafted at the Blueridge factory. Consistency is evident throughout, from the fretwork to the intricate inlays that adorn each Blueridge headstock. Case sold separately.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-160 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Great sounding guitar. Very impressed with the warmth and even tone. Have never bought a guitar without playing it-but everyone was raving about them considering cost relative to more expensive Martins. Decided to try it. Worth it.

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-160 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I traded a Breedlove D20 for a 160R. Best deal ever. Once it was set up by a skilled luthier and a LR Baggs I-Beam it was instantly my favorite instrument,. I have a hand full of mid-range Martins:D15, DSR, DXM, 12 string and LXM. The tone and sheer playability of this Blueridge guitar is fantastic. Folks tend to compare it with many others but it's hard to find better and then you consider it's price range and it becomes the best in class by a wide margin. The mid-70's Takamine 360's or the Aria AD-50 are equal but hard to find.

        Great guitar

Comments about Blueridge Historic Series BR-160 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Mine is 12 yrs old (2002) and it looks and plays like new. Check out the YouTube reviews and demos. This thing even sounds good on YouTube. Mine has a sound that is more like a Martin D-35 than a D-28, which I like as I am partial to D-35's. I'm using D'Addario lights and they work really well with the low action and narrow neck. I'm not real excited over the headstock, but it really doesn't matter because the guitar as a whole is just absolutely wonderful. I used to own a music shot and could have my pick of guitars. I think for value, a D-28 / D-18 / D-35 may be a better investment; but for sheer enjoyment the 160 was the right choice for me.
