Overview

Create unparalleled recordings with your computer using Blue's best-selling Yeti family of USB microphones. Thanks to Blue's proprietary tri-capsule technology, Yeti microphones produce pristine, studio-quality recordings with legendary ease. And four different pattern settings offer incredible flexibility so you can record vocals, instrumental music, podcasts, audio for video, interviews, or even cryptozoology lectures in ways that would normally require multiple microphones. Whether you're recording at home, on the road, or in the Himalayas, Yeti helps you produce studio-quality recordings every time.

Total Recording Control with Yeti
Yeti features studio controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute and microphone gain—putting you in charge of every level of the recording process. If you’re experiencing distortion or feedback while recording an especially loud source—like the deafening sound of an avalanche—simply adjust the microphone's sensitivity with the gain control. Or, if you want to take a break in the middle of a podcast, use the instant mute button.

The microphone comes equipped with a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack and allows you to listen to what you're recording in real-time, without latency delays—that means no more hearing a note 3 seconds after you played it. You can adjust the volume of your headphones using the control on the front of the microphone.

Innovative Design Makes Recording Easy
Yeti doesn’t mind getting pushed around—it lets you adjust and pivot the microphone in relation to the sound source, which optimizes your sound quality. Once you’ve achieved the desired angle, simply hand-tighten the set knobs to secure it in place. Yeti is a side-address microphone, so you can capture the best sound by going face-to-face with it. The microphone can also be folded down for easy portability, or removed completely from its base for mounting directly on a mic stand, or on the Radius shockmount.

Hassle-Free Setup
Simply plug Yeti into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, calibrate it with your operating system, and you're ready to record—rain, shine, or snow. Yeti offers driver-free operation, while the Yeti Pro requires easy-to-install drivers, available from Blue.

Yeti is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8 (including 8.1), Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (Home and Professional), and Mac OS X (10.4.11 or higher), and requires a minimum of 64 MB of RAM*.

What can I say.. first mic to meet the tough THX (Lucasfilms) standard.. 20-20k flat freq response, uses inexpensive USB cable. No buzz, very clear audio. Sensitive, good all around pickup, very flexible, does the work of about $600 worth of different mics. Built-in phantom 48v power for condensor mic capsules. Can use for skype or other voicechat progs, (a bit expensive for that purpose, however!) Built-in soundcard with zero latency headphone monitor port (1/8" jack). I intend to also use it to audition for voice-over acting jobs. Thanks, Blue (and Guitar Center!) Dislikes? A bit heavy, 4 pounds with stand, 1.5 without. BIG! Don't expect much portability. Very sensitive; pop filter recommended. Must be very close to get full, rich sound using directional cardiod pattern. A definite best buy!

The mic is heavy and sturdy...I like that! Plug it in and it works immediately....love that! Sound conducts very easily through the base so the usb & headphone cables that come out of the bottom make a thumping sound if they get touch or moved. I find the mic is clear but feel like I really have to be right up on it. I am 33 year radio vet and I also use a Shure SM7 and so I am spoiled. This is not near that quality but it is still good for voice work and I travel so I'd rather throw it in a suitcase than my Shure. The headphone jack is awesome to have! Overall I am happy with the purchase.

    Awesome Home Mic

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

I record just for fun, and this works for everything. Acoustic guitars sound phenomenal on it. The other guy is right though, it is VERY sensitive to movement and background noise. I also use this as single mic recording on my drum set and it works just fine. After a bit of EQing and compression it sounds awesome.

    Do Not Buy This Mic!

    By cheryl kutzer

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

This is a pretty good microphone, for a USB mic. Unfortunately I cannot express how strongly I insist on NOT BUYING THIS PRODUCT because of one problem. I have had this mic for about 2 months, and it has completely broken. The computer no longer recognizes it as a microphone and it works a little bit, maybe once in one hundred re-plugs. This mic is good, but do not buy it!

    It has one, small purpose

    By cheryl kutzer

    from Denver, Colorado

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

The Blue Yeti has one purpose: to give you a desktop-sitting microphone with good quality sound, without the need of any other audio interfaces and stuff. I originally bought this mic to be used for commentaries for YouTube videos. I am now getting really into music production, and am so disappointed that I bought this mic. I can't really use this for any music stuff, cause it is made to sit on a table, not really on a stand or anything else. And because I can't use it with any other equipment, such as preamps or effect amps or even a simple audio interface. If you want this mic I would strongly recommend the Yeti Pro. It's a little more expensive but is basically the Blue Yeti, but with the option to use with other equipment, such as audio interfaces. Bottom line: if you want ONLY a USB microphone, to do nothing other than podcasts, interviews, commentaries, then this is fine. If you are buying this for actual music producing and recording and all that, get a real condenser microphone with an XLR output or some other output, NOT USB!

My review of the Blue Yeti after using it for about 7 months

    By cheryl kutzer

    from Colorado

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

I got this microphone about 7 months ago, and have been constantly using it for recording my voice into various softwares. First of all, if you are going to get this microphone, get a boom arm stand to attatch it to. Even though the mic comes with a stand, I have not been able to use the microphone with it. It takes up too much space on my desk, and is not close enough to my mouth. You should also know that you should be keeping the "gain" knob all the way down, to prevent any fuzzy noises or feedback. This means the mic will have to be closer to your mouth (which again shows why you need a boom stand). A pop filter is not neccessary for this mic, if you keep the gain knob at 0. The microphone has been great, except for the fact that the usb port on the microphone (that connects to the computer), is so sensative and in a way, broken. Whenever the cord gets bumped or moved, the mic starts making popping sounds through the headphone port, and needs to be re-plugged several times. This is a MAJOR flaw and because of this, I have recently started thinking about other mic options. Otherwise, the microphone is great.

    An excellent value

    By BRUCE RUSK

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

Bought this after trying several different USB mics, all found lacking except this one. I use this for voice recording for pod casting exclusively and have never had a problem with the sound quality or performance.

    Overall very good

    By Will Delooze

    from NC

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

This mic can have the best quality if you can make the settings right. For a usb mic i would highly recommend for people working in a home studio. However there is a downfall to its greatness. This thing picks up everything, and i mean EVERYTHING. If my dog barks i need to restart my entire track. If a door closes i need to restart the track. I would recommend this for anyone working in a sound booth but not someone just starting out.

    Covers it All

    By Mark Moore

    from Alabama

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

This is a great microphone for the buck. I have personally recorded singing, speaking, bass through amp, guitar through amp and keyboard through amp. I love the crystal clear sound and I promise there is none greater for the buck. I already had the amplifiers because I gig a lot so capturing the sound that I'm used to hearing exactly how I'm used to hearing was very refreshing. Being a professional musical and teacher of music, I would definitely recommend this microphone. Don't let the price fool you, it has a lot of bang for the buck!!!

    Poor Sound Quality

    By Matt Pierce

    from Ohio

Comments about Blue Yeti USB Microphone:

The only feature that I see on this mic is the ability to switch between the 4 different settings. The overall quality, however; is terrible. All of the settings sounded like I was recording inside of a tin can, even after I manually adjusted the EQ levels in the software. I have a Blue Snowflake USB mic, which has better sound quality than the Yeti for less than half the price. I see that most reviews on this product are positive, so maybe I got a lemon, but I would warn anyone else to stay away from this product. Major disappointment.
