Overview

The Ball Dynamic Microphone from Blue is the latest addition in an award-winning family of hand-built microphones named for its unique shape. The Ball -- a phantom-powered dynamic mic -- is designed to solve the problems of frequency-dependent variable resistance, phase coherence, noise specification, and overall output found in normal dynamic mics. By incorporating a phantom-powered active balancing circuit in The Ball's output stage, these problems are overcome. This circuit maintains a constant pure-resistive 50-ohm load across the usable frequency spectrum yielding an exceptionally smooth and open sound previously unheard-of in a dynamic microphone. The Ball Microphone also features extremely high sound pressure level handling.

AMAZING

Comments about Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone -- Phantom Powered:

i bought this mic on a whim because it looks so fraking cool. i was pleasently suprised hen it arrived by the size, shape, and weight. but what good is all this if it doesnt sound good, so off i went first trying out a gibson SG on the epi. valve jr. awesome, great tubey warmth, great for vintage stuff. next i tried it on a marshall 4x12 metalo/hardcore track. yeilding great results, it kind of sounds like a sm57 with a really nice condenser. I then used it in a pinch on snare drum, and while a little distracting, it sounded aweomse, the best snare track i have ever made/heard. really a great buy.

Blue Ball

Comments about Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone -- Phantom Powered:

Not a bad mic for the money. I use it to record loud vocals and with my friends who insist on being a little rough on my mics. The vocals always come out about the way I want them to sound nothing a little eq can't fix. The only problem i've had with the mic is once and a while when I plug the mic in to my pre-amp I pick up a local radio station. It never happens with my other mics. It's kind of amusing, but ruins the track.

Great for Mic-ing Guitars

By Shamrocker123

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone -- Phantom Powered:

I've been recording my band for a couple years now and always instsituted a Shure SM57 to mic the guitar amp. This mic worked well, but a friend of mine suggested purchasing a Phantom Powered Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone and using that to replace my SM57. I took his advice and tried it out and instantly I noticed a fuller more low end sound in my guitar tracks. I now use it as my primary mic for live sets as well and for recording I use it in combo with the old SM57 and developed a huge sound. The cost is well worth the product. If you are serious about your guitar sounds (live or recording) invest in the Blue Ball Dynamic Mic. (Make sure your board has Phantom Power first though.)

Great Mike!

By PM-SwLyB

Comments about Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone -- Phantom Powered:

I've been recording for nearly 25 years using everything under the sun and this mike is amazing for the money. It's a cross between a top notch studio condenser and a Shure SM87. Great sound and rugged as heck. Not a replacement for my Neumanns, but a super mike nonetheless.

Great Overall Mic

Comments about Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone -- Phantom Powered:

I've used it mainly for vocals. I run it through a Presonus tubepre and Behringer compression. Great flat vocal sound.I prefer a little more mids on a vocal mic,but that can be fixed.

Mini amp watts-High end sound

By Rufus J

from Marianna, FL

Comments about Blue The Ball Dynamic Microphone -- Phantom Powered:

I recorded a southern rock blues band a couple weeks ago after receiving my Blue from MF, the lead guitarist used a Strat and a Sedano 16 wt amp, I put the Blue on one side of the speaker and a SM57 on the other, and this Blue (with its neat little light) smoked the Shure. The Strat and Soldano amp really shined on this music, high Spl's and a real get down nasty crunch! For the money you can't beat it with a stick, I'd highly recommend the Blue the Balls.
