The Bluebird is a large diaphragm cardioid condenser mic (fixed pattern). It comes in a padded wooden box with a screw mount pop filter, and well-constructed shock mount. The powder blue Bluebird has the typical elegant look of a Blue mic, high build quality, and a sound that lives up to the name. On vocals this mic performs beautifully - both sung, and voiceover/spoken word. I have used this mic on several voiceover and music projects (through a Great River preamp) and it performs admirably. The sound is smooth, open, warm, and airy without the pronounced sibilant peak many sub-$1000 condensers exhibit. The low end and mids are clear and warm. The Bluebird is well suited for many tasks, from vocals to acoustic instruments. The manual states it would also be a great choice for sax, flute, clean guitar, violin, etc. I would have to agree. Without a doubt it is one of the best large diaphragm condenser mics in the sub-$1000 category.

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

The Blue Bluebird was the first condenser microphone I purchased and has remained my favorite even as I have added more microphones to my arsenal! It will handle every source you put it up against and sound amazing as well! My main use is for it is on vocals and it really shines Thru the mix! Also the price is great and easily comparable too the more expensive microphones on the market! If you're looking for a mic to start out with then the bluebird is the way to go!

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

Review for Voice Over vocals, not for music, singing or instruments. Overall quality of the mic is ideal. This is a great mic for a reasonable price. You can get very very high quality vocal recordings that are excellent for Voice Over work great range on this mic. 3 minor issues that make this mic a little annoying otherwise a 5 star mic. 1st it is a sibilance amplifier, this mic will pic up any sibilance ssss issues you may have and amplifies it. 2nd make sure your AI has enough head room to cover the levels for this Mic, you might need a preamp to get the VO quality recording needed. 3rd its bulky and heavy (great for durability) not so great on its included shockmount which is a bit flimsy, especially when Mic Placement is crucial with this mic. Make sure to read the manual as its pickup patterns can give you very different sounds depending on where you speak into the mic. Overall I would recommend this for a intermediate mic, not a good one for beginners unless you have a good idea about Mic tech and levels.

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

Sleek and stylish, crisp and clear, this mic is wonderful! I am a vocalist who has used this mic for big band acts as well as an acoustic act and it proves to be the best mic I have used to date. My mister has also used this mic for his saxophone and we could not be more pleased. Highly suggest this microphone for any type of musician.

Recorded with this on my newest single!

      By Cobrette Bardole

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

It was my pleasure this prior afternoon to record my voice with the BLUE bluebird and I was blown away. I've never heard my vocals sound so good, specifically warm and bright. It captured the subtle characteristics of my voice and really helped me capture the professional sound I was looking for. However, I've heard from a friend that I should try it out on guitar cabinets sometime... with such a high SPL, it would definitely handle it! Great product. If you get the chance try it out, and be sure to purchase it. Best $300 I'll ever spend.

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

The Bluebird is simply the best vocal mice I've ever used, including any AKG or Neumann. Stunning clarity and a wide sonic range place this mic at the top of my list, period.

      Bluebird rocks!

      By JAMES H MORELAND

      from Grapevine, TX

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

I recently purchased the Bluebird and could not be happier with this purchase. I needed a mic to record my song ideas and thoughts daily. I use Sonar X2 with a Focusrite Scarlet 6i6, also recently purchased. I am impressed with the warmth of this mic and the detail I hear on the recorded music. My guitar sounds incredible, even with the room challenges. There is a real warmth when played back. I feel as though I have solved a major problem with the ability to make small mic placement changes and hear real depth in the recording. 5 stars!!!

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

Blue's tribute to all-around sound and value!. The Bluebird works great on practically anything you want to record!. It's robust enough for drums, horns, and amplifiers, but it's accurate and clear enough to bring out subtle sonic details you want from vocals, acoustic guitars, and piano!. It comes equipped with a custom shockmount and a pop filter!.

Excellent Microphone at a terrific price!!!

      By Timothy Taylor

      from Bristow, Virginia

Comments about Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

I bought one of these about two years ago, and have to say, for the money it simply cannot be beat. It has a large diaphragm design, low self noise, and it sensitive enough to pick up the most nuanced performance. In my own experience it is excellent for picking up cymbals, male or female voice, acoustic guitar, drums in a room setting. and just about anything else you might use a cardiod mic for. Is it in the same class as a Neumann, an AKG C414, etc? No. It is not priced at that point, and will not outperform any of the higher end mics, but for about 300 bucks, it IS an excellent Mic, and you wont regret the purchase. As with any condensor mic, get a good stand for noise isolation. There are no complaint points with this mic other than the lack of multi polar patterns, which of course you will pay more for.
