NEW REVIEW - Extrememly limmited product
My friend bought one of these "mics" without consulting anybody in the business. Good luck getting it to work with any software you or your friends may use to record with. After purchasing Cubase (a widely used program by many, many people) my friend discovered this mic to be virtually useless. Also, remember this - The mic can only go as far from the computer as the length of your USB cable. Extremely Limmited Product

EXCELLENT!!
This thing is great! I can't believe how good it sounds. I won't be going to those $80 an hour studios anymore! The ease of use is amazing, the quality is crazy. I highly recommend you get the stedman pop filter with this! It works great with the mic. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to get studio sound without a studio budget.

Very nice...
I got this mic as a step up from an original "Radio Shack" dynamic mic from when I first started rapping I heard alot of kids talking about how they needed phantom power for there mics and I didnt have the money for that. I went to my local guitar center and asked for something not so expensive for recording on a computer they gave me this and told me it would sound great on a computer for a low price I took it home that day with the "ringer" shockmount hooked it up in about 10 minutes its ready to roll all you do is plug it into the USB and your set I loved this mic for the price and quality, for sure get this if your just starting out, or for just recording on a rainy day.

Excellent for Podcasting
I purchased the Snowball specifically for Podcasting - it's terrific. I have it set up on a boom stand next to my desk in my office. When I'm ready to podcast, I simply swing the Snowball over, launch my software, and get to work.
It sounds great, and makes the entire production more professional. I'm a geek, so setting it up would have been easy anyway. But this thing is so easy to set up - just plug it in and go - anyone could do it.
I'm very satisfied. I only wish there was a tool or option to increase input volume. My only nit.
Great product overall, and the price was right.

Both a unique and excellent mic for podcasting!
I just starting out in podcasting, I've been reading all I can get my hands on when I wanted to get a mic. I selected the Blue snowball since I liked the way it looked and because of it's omni-directional capabilities.
Initially mic output was not where I wanted it to be. I use Garageband 3 and I had to boost my input levels to max as well sit very close in order to get proper pickup. After checking Blue's website I found that they had a firmware upgrade to raise the gain. Once I applied it, there were no problems with the input levels and I even had to dial it down a bit.
My voice comes in with a great tonal range and a degree of warmth I didn't get from other USB and system-mounted mics I've used before. It is also really simple to setup and I had it working in minutes.
The only negative for me would be that this is after all a USB mic, so it'll be difficult to do interviews, but since most of my interviews are being performed over Skype and the phone, I have other ways to get that audio into the system.
I would recommend this to someone who wants to get into podcasting and do it the right way to make your voice shine through. This is not the cheapest USB mic you can get, but it is one of the best around.

Blue Snowball
I just recenty got this mic and am pleased with it. I needed an upgrade and with low funds it was a good catch. The sound is fairly good, keeping in mind your not spending $400. I have recorded with it and got a much better sound and it mixes better into my music. I will definitly recomend this if it's what you need. Do some research to find out more of what you nee. But for me it fit nicely for my next upgrade and I love the mic. Apert from sound, it looks great and actualy kinda inspires a better take. Good stuff. Thanks blue.

BUYER BEWARE! As of July 2007, this product does not support Windows Vista. If you require a microphone that supports Windows Vista contact the manufacturer BEFORE buying this product to ensure that they have released an updated driver that supports Windows Vista.

Not What I Expected
I would like to agree with all the good reviews but when i got my snowball and plugged it in 10 mins after i got it there was a really bad static sound on the recording no matter what i did it overpowered what i was trying to record (guitar). I was very dissapointed with this product.

TRULY AMAZING!
ok, grantite, i havent had experience with any other microphone, but this one has absoultly amazing quality for voice, guitar, bass, piano, even drums!! for guitar and bass, all you have to do is place the mic in front of the amp and turn the setting on the back of the mic to "2". and i did the same for drums when i placed my mic and computer on a table near my drumset and still had amazing quality! TOTALLY WORTH IT!!

AMAZING MIC!
This mic is EXCELLENT. It's easy to use and because it's a USB mic, it doesn't require an audio interface.
I've had this mic for about two days now, and I can't stop recording it's so great.
You can even use this mic for instruments. It can handle my metal high gain electric guitar stuff with ease.
First time I've ever walked out of guitar center and had a product go beyond my expectations.
