  • Excellent Mic

As reviewed by T on 9/3/2010

I was deciding between the blue bluebird and the blue baby bottle. psychologically I could not get past the hundred dollar difference and I assumed the blue bottle was worth the increase in price. My assumption was not accurate. Both mics sound great, however, the blue bottle sounds like a lot of mics I have heard before, while the blue bird has a unique tone of its own. The blue bottle is a much "hotter" mic and it tends to break up a lot easier, it kind of has a tube thing going on. The blue bird is a lot more natural and has a true to life sound, in other words its not trying to be anything, it just is, and that is where it works beautifully. I will mention this mic is extremely tight sounding and has low noise, you will be impressed. The bluebird has a lot more clarity and detail than the blue bottle, while the blue bottle has more full and bassy tone. The bluebird is an amazing mic for the money. One thing to remember don't ever use any mic without a channel strip, your quality will go up ten fold. Buy this mic if you are on a budget I tried a ton and this mic sounds like some higher end mics, no joke. I am not sure how they made this mic with a $$$ price tag, it is very impressive. Don't waste time, just buy it.

  • Pure Magic

As reviewed by Richard on 5/10/2011

I don't know much about mics but I sat down and listed to every mic in the three hundred dollar range and this one sounded the best. Took it home and plugged it in and I quickly realized that I was not going to be able to just use it sitting in front of my computer like the cheap mics I had been using. It is extremely sensitive and picks up every sound in the room. Moved the mic into my walk in closet and that's when the magic started. It's got a very clean sound that (at least to me) very accurately reproduces sound. The highs are crisp without being harsh and the mids are nice soft and round. It has bottom end as well and it's very clean and tight. All in all I'd have to say the mic is extremely precise and will give you a true representation of whatever you record.
