Overview

The Studio 192 as an audio interface handles up to 26 inputs, eight of which are class A remote-controlled XMAX mic preamps, all performing at a pristine 192kHz audio resolution. Ultra-low latency USB 3.0 connectivity, eight balanced TRS outputs, balanced stereo Main outputs, two headphone amplifiers, an onboard Talkback mic, and advanced monitoring features make the Studio 192 an exciting and attractive interface, but that' not all it can do.

The Studio 192 is your single-space rackmount audio interface and studio command center. Tight integration with the included Studio One digital audio workstation provides remote control over every Studio 192 microphone preamp plus onboard zero-latency monitor mixing control right from your recording environment. Studio One' exclusive hybrid Fat Channel plug-in can run on your computer' processor and switch to the onboard DSP on your Studio 192 with a sonically seamless transition. Now you can monitor with award-winning StudioLive EQ and dynamics while switching between playback and recording with no audible change. Zero-latency monitoring with effects is also available from UC Surface for third-party DAW users.

More than just abundant I/O, Studio 192 is designed to be the central hub for any project or professional studio. The onboard Talkback mic can be routed to any mix. The outputs can be used for monitor mixing or for speaker switching. Onboard Dim and Mono options let you take control of your Main mix. Studio 192' two headphone amps each have a dedicated stereo output and can listen in on any mix, ”perfect for in-studio collaboration.

Comments about Presonus Studio 192 USB Audio Interface:

I used Eleven Rack as an interface beginning with Pro Tools 9. I now have 12.4 From Pro Tools 11 forward there is a problem with "doubling". Avid it seems needs to update the driver to correct this.
I bought a Focusrite to replace it. My experience with that was not good. I had static that could not be corrected. Also the mix window was hard to figure out.
I paid about $500 more for the Presonus Studio 192...and it's worth EVERY PENNY! Crystal clear! Easy to operate! No latency! Awesome!
There are no midi connections on the Presonus 192...just go USB into your computer.
I highly recommend this interface. If you just want to power up and record your songs (without being a tech engineer) then here you go! Get one!

Comments about Presonus Studio 192 USB Audio Interface:

Great! There is a blind test of the Studio192 vs Apollo twin vs the Apogee element. The 192 did very well in my opinion. (Google blind test Presonus studio 192 if you want to listen for yourself) This is such a great buy. You get 8 inputs!!! You have to pay double to get that on another unit. And right now it's on sale!

Comments about Presonus Studio 192 USB Audio Interface:

        Pleasantly surprised by this unit.

I wanted an upgrade to my focusrite 18i8 (a great unit itself). Primarily, i wanted DSP reverb and EQ to help with vocal monitoring. I was using an extra device to do this with the 18i8 because it did not have this feature.

I also wanted a unit with digitally controlled preamps. I work a lot by myself, and wanted to be able to tweak the gain and settings from my vocal booth.

This thing delivered. I can control all those things on an ipad. Super stoked about that. I can also control Cubase from an ipad, so that's a double bonus for me.

It seems this unit can also resolve sources of different clock rates. I run my POD HD500X through SPDIF at 48k. even with the unit at 44.1k, it still resolved the POD signal and I didn't hear any pops or clicks. This surprised me. (I still switched it to 48k, because duh lol)

The preamps seem a little more clear to me than the focusrite, and that says a lot because those are some clean pre's.

I am not able to use it with USB 3.0 due to my MOBO not natively supporting it. I have an add on card, but it is cheap and can't run the lower latency settings.

Happy to report that running through USB 2.0 has been fine even at 64 sample buffer.

If you need something to run soft synths, I would say go in a different direction. the lowest reported RTL I could get was close to 9ms. Perhaps a future driver/firmware update will support a 32 sample buffer for windows (it does already for mac), but for now, that may be a little high for VST drums, keys and amps.

I have heard these are buggy on mac, and read a few horror stories even from windows users. Thankfully, my unit seems to be 100% functional (there was a preamp noise issue on some units). The unit I purchased was sold as "new", but the salesperson was honest and told me it had been returned twice. one return said "could not use". I was assured I would still have 15 days to try it out and return it for any reason. So far so good.
