Comments about Ibanez PM2 Pat Metheny Signature Hollowbody Electric Guitar - Antique Amber:

Wonderful guitar out of the box. The pick up can be a little hot depending on what you use to power the guitar. I go directly into our PA using an ART tube D.I. and Nonverb with a little chorus. Looking for a versatile sweet sounding Jazz box, this is it!

Comments about Ibanez PM2 Pat Metheny Signature Hollowbody Electric Guitar - Antique Amber:

I bought this guitar to complement my D'addario EXL-1 large-body jazz guitar w/ spruce top and floating pickup. The maple top on the PM-2, smaller body, shorter scale, and recessed pickup make this an entirely different jazz box and one totally befitting the Brasilian-influenced music of Pat Metheny.

Fretwork is at the pro-level; unusual for a below-$1000 guitar. Very comfortable and fast neck, and the guitar is very reactive to all playing styles.

I wanted a second jazz box for flats vs. rounds, but the contrast is larger than I expected and that's a good thing. Whereas the EXL-1 has a big, open, and full sound, the PM-2 is smaller and more intimate, yet without sounding remotely boxy. Also, it manages to be warm and tonally balanced without the slightest hint of harshness. The pickup is excellent, but even unplugged, it exhibits these characteristics.

Comments about Ibanez PM2 Pat Metheny Signature Hollowbody Electric Guitar - Antique Amber:

I love this guitar. I purchased the Ibanez PM-20 way back when Ibanez first made a Pat Metheny model guitar, some 20 years ago. That guitar was almost exactly the same as this one, with a few minor cosmetic differences. I sold it about 5 years ago, and have missed it ever since. I finally decided to replace it with this guitar, and could not be happier. The guitar plays beautifully, and seems to make improvising jazz lines easy. The single humbucker sounds great plugged in, with enough control over the tone to get whatever sound you want out of it. I was planning to have the guitar setup by GC but decided that it wasn't necessary since it sounded good right out of the box. The action was a bit low on strings 5-6 but I was able to adjust that myself using the bridge adjusters.

Bottom line: This is a beautiful instrument. If you can find one to try out locally, do it. If not, just order it - you won't be disappointed.
