I bought this as a backup to my 4X12 Mesa Boogie Cabinet. After selling my old combo amp, I've been lugging the 4X12 to practice. I decided to get this after my Mesa had an issue and had to go into the shop. I found this used for less than half the list price - so what the heck?

I've got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by the sound of this amp. It's an open back amp made out of particle board. Blackstar isn't know for great cabinets in this range. But I think considering the price range these things fall in, they are a great value and sound pretty good. I was skeptical - but I may even take this to smaller gigs as well as carrying it to practice. I tried 4 guitars with it, and all sounded respectable. From a Gibson SG to a Jackson R10D - sounded clear and reproduced the tones well.

I have this paired with a Blackstar Venue Series HT Club 50 head. I am actually most impressed by the clean tones this amp/cabinet combo produces. It's not going to beat my Series One/Mesa setup - but it's a heck of a lot easier to tote around, and for quick home recording/practicing, it's perfect.

It's what they don't tell you that worries me. It's only mentioned once that this is an open backed cabinet. Also, it is never mentioned this cabinet is made of particle board. I would not gig this cabinet. On the positive side, its lightweight and oversized compared to similar cabinets.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HTV-212 160W 2x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I actually like this 2 12" cabinet better than my 4 12" cabinet (both Blackstar) because it produces more sound and edge than when pushing the 4 12"s. It has plenty of volume and tone for the price and I can use this cabinet for gigs that don't require a 1/2 stack. It has good clean tones as well as nice edgy overdrive and good harmonics and feedback if I need to rock out!

This cab is pretty loud with a good sound out of the box. I've yet to finish breaking in the speakers but I figure once they do it'll sound perfect. Can't go wrong for the money.

I bought this to use with my Hughes and Ketner Tubemeister 18w and it sounds really good. The Celestion 70/80 speakers are pretty common in Cabinets i heard and for good reason. They are good sounding for the price. So I would recommend this cab to anyone.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HTV-212 160W 2x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I purchased this cabinet to use in home studio and as a practice amp. I have it connected as an extension cabinet to my Vox Valvetronix 150 Pro and it sounds great clean and dirty. I also purchased a Behringer Ultra-G GI100 DI to connect the Vox to my sound board for recording and to put it through my PA system so I don't have to mic the cabinet or amp and that works perfectly. I am very pleased with the quality of this cabinet and the tone.

Blackstar Cabinet with 2 x 12 Celestions a Great Value

Light, Compact and EZ to Carry Around giving big wall of sound by Open Back Celestions. What else is there to buy at this price?
Great looking 2X 12" Cabinet if you are seeking a lightweight open back Cabinet with EZ to lug around handle and hardware. Middle of the Road Celestions give a great clear as bell tone when hooked up to my Marshall head through my Fender Tele. Better than hauling around a 4x12 Cab and open back fills the room with sound. Nice detail around grill cloth.
Nice and tight plain Tolex Covering with quality hardware in handle and corners. Well constructed for price point. Great pipe detail around grill cloth. Celestions and wiring, input jacks all are good enough to inspire confidence.
Bought mine used through MF on Level 2 condition but really arrived in mint condition and pleased with price.

I bought the HTV-212 because I needed a good rehearsal cab. I have a 4X12(Marshall) for playing live and hated lugging that around. The cab with the seventy 80's have a very punchy, crisp sound and gets better as it get louder.Slight loss of the low end with open back but sound fills the room.I am very happy with this cabinet!

This is a great cab for the price, i tried it through the venue 100 watt head and could easily get some good classic or hard rock tones. This is a really good space saver to go with your blackstar head.
