The Blackstar HT Stage 60's selected duet of EL34s deliver 60W of glorious tube power through 2 high-quality Celestion speakers, making for a combo that will deliver every night, even in the most testing live environment. The Blackstar amp's 'boutique' style clean channel is extremely versatile with 2 modes: 'British Class-A' and 'dynamic US'. Each of the amplifier's 2 ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) equipped overdrive channels allows a further 2 modes.

The Clean Channel on the Blackstar HT-60 combo has 2 modes, 'boutique' and 'modern' and its own Tone control provides a wide range of clean tones. The Voice switch reconfigures both the preamplifier voicing and gain structure, and the power amplifier damping, to reproduce either ringing Class A Performance in the 'boutique' mode, or very clean and tight Class AB tones in the 'modern' setting.

The Overdrive Channel has its own EQ section and a Voice switch that allows the character of the channel to be changed, providing a wide variety of overdriven tones. The channel is characterized by a tone that's high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end 'fizz' often found in similar designs. This is a result of the Blackstar HT-60 guitar amp's unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping techniques, which cleans up the overdrive beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. Even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channel on the Blackstar Venue HT-60 amplifier remains natural sounding. The ISF control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in tone shaping flexibility.

The ISF control shifts the response of the 3-control tone stack between a US-type response at one end, and at the other a UK-type response. The Blackstar tube amp provides an infinite number of alternative tone choices in between the 2 extremes that would be otherwise unavailable.

The Blackstar HT-60 guitar amp also features a completely natural sounding digital reverb, which is outstandingly musical on both clean and crunch tones and raises the benchmark for guitar amplifier specific reverb design. A Dark/Bright switch allows the overall reverb characteristics to be modified to suit different tastes and playing styles.

I searched for a gigging amp after I found my Tiny Terror lacking in headroom. The clean channel is pristine at loud levels. I'm in an indie/post-hardcore band, and I play clean lines over distorted guitar, bass, loud drums and vocals, and it cuts through without being too muddy, or getting lost in the mix. There are no problems or lags with channel switching, and reverb can be dialed in anywhere from really thick or just a touch to liven up solos and chords. The amps versatile with its tone switches, and channels. I can get a spanky, bright Fender sound from my Ibanez, and can play anything from John Mayer, Hendrix, and SRV to playing ACDC, Guns N Roses, to As I Lay Dying, Death, and metal etc. This amp basically covers the gamut of decades of rock. The biggest complaint is that the ISF feature seems less interactive than it did on the HT-5, which had seen a bigger change in tone with even the slightest turn of the knob. And plus, its more suited for modern tones, than classic rock, even though it does those sounds fairly well. Try it out in store to get a better idea. I recently let a friend in a local deathcore band play it, and it easily competed with the Crate tube head and 4x12 cab, and sounded ten times better and louder. My friend's leads cut through with warm, buttery tube saturation even with the massive amounts of gain on the third channel. The chug sound was great, and it never sounded too harsh or noisy when being played. If you have money, and need a metal amp, go with this amp over a 6505 plus, or a Peavey, as the Peavey has too much of a harsh, shrill distortion character that sounds like old T.V. static. For classic rock and blues, it still does a great job of doing just about everything.

This Amp has one of the best Over Drive sections I ever heard. I was surprised how little preamp volume was needed to get a great over drive sound out of the first overdrive channel. The second over drive was capable of taken your sound over the top. I mostly play hard rock and the first overdrive channel had more drive that I would have ever used. The claen channel was very surprising and offered more shimmer than I was expecting. I was expecting to trash all my effects pedals except there was one problem. This is a new product and it appears all the bugs are not worked out of the manufacturing process. My first amp the clean channel was the only channel that worked. My replacement amp the two over drive channels worked and the clean channel did not. I have doubts that this amp will prove capable of being a long lasting durable amp. I was so dissapointed, this amps could have been the amp I had been seeking years. This amp is deserving of a perfect rating for it's sound, but there always a devil in the details.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-60 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this HT-STAGE 60 model the next day after playing it. I tried a bunch of different settings and they all were better than anticipated to my ears. I am 63.
Liked it so much in fact, that I traded in an old pre-cbs Bandmaster head and an unsatisfactory Mesa 4x10 Rocket four forty. Both of which had either not enough bottom end or options in comparison. I didn't care. This is sacrilege right?
I've had 'em all over the decades, sonny.
It's very heavy and could use some removable casters like the old Ampeg bass amps had, or a dolly.
        * Note: The leading amplifier servicer in the Greater Boston area has told me that they would not take in any Blackstar amps because of their poor serviceability due to using surface mounted components. Now that was only because they could not fix a 5 watt Blackstar.I just thought I'd give you all a heads up.

Comments about Blackstar Venue Series HT Stage HT-60 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Just getting back into playing guitar after 20 years away because of grad school and career adventures. I like a wide palette of styles and tones and was looking for an amp that could give me a mix of classic fender, marshall, vox tones along with more modern mesa boogie. I knew I had struck gold when I plugged into this amp and spent an evening with it at the store. It's now been a few months since I bought it and continue to be delighted after spending dozens of evenings experimenting with combinations of settings and pairings with a dozen or so of the best overdrive pedals on the market. I also put the amp through its paces with my favorite drummer who hits hard and this beast had no problem keeping up with the volume knob dialed to about noon to one o'clock. The clean channel with two voicings delivers nice "modern" fender-type clean ala John Mayer as well as "boutique" Vox AC-30 type sounds (classic Class A chime at lower volumes and sweet breakup ala Rolling Stones when the volume is cranked. Think early Beatles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, U2's The Edge, Radiohead, and modern country like Rascal Flats and Keith Urban. The 2 OD channels are also very flexible ranging from classic Plexi tones like AC/DC crunch and Van Halen's "brown sound" to modern metal with the addition of a voicing on the 2nd OD channel that emphasizes mids and highs to help your leads cut through. Bottom line: This amp has absolutely exceeded my wildest expectations and delivers monster tone like far more expensive classic and boutique brands for a fraction of the price. Could not be happier with my purchase and I would easily pay twice as much for an amp with this much versatility and quality but am thankful I don't have to. The value is unbeatable and Blackstar has earned a very loyal customer here. Next is an ID:Core practice amp with Super Wide Stereo for the bedroom. Sounds amazing!

Great amp....all hands down. Best bang for the buck anywhere. Isf setup can get you more of a fender to a marshall sound. I enjoy the amp foot pedal. clean, OD1, OD2, and reverb. Very powerful....I wish they made this in a 40 watt but I suppose ill just have to suffer....lol. Bought this amp sight unseen after going to a concert whos band used blackstar. I sold my other amps and I bought the blackstar ht-5 stack to practice on...great amp as well... For me, I got it for the old school marshall sound without the price tag. Very universal amp without all the simulation junk. Well made amp.

I was out looking into buying a new amp to the collection, and usually I won't try amp like this because I play blues-rock style music; but one day I decided to give this amp a go and it's turned out to be an incredibly versatile amp. First of all, I was incredibly impressed by the clean channel because if you get the right settings in the EQs, you can get Fender-like sparkly tones, but if you switch to second voicing, you get a tone that breaks-up nicely. The OD channels are really good, too. They're both very versatile and have a huge range of tones due to the ISF and the alternate voicing so for each channel. Overall I'd say that this amp is very good with many different genres.
