While we have a lot of amps around the house I wanted something my son could move from room to room and we had been eyeing these for months. On sale last week we picked one up and have been having a blast ever since!

It's light and sounds amazing. The warm clean channel sound amazing for the size with a little reverb and modulation on it. We haven't even plugged in the USB yet as we have been too busy just playing with it.

We have larger modeling amps, some older Fender tube amps and I my primary is a Blackstar HT 40 now... will these little speakers sound like a 12" or will it sound like an old tube amp? No, of course not, but they sound pretty darn good and the adjustments are easy to make, so easy it's the first amp my 7 year old has really "played" with the settings to get different sounds. We have both had fun plugging our phones in to play with music streamed from different sources. I took it on the back porch to drive the neighbors a little nuts over the weekend.

It's portable, sounds good, gets pretty loud and is easy to use. Excellent value!

It's worth noting that one review gave it a negative rating because it didn't take pedals well... this isn't an amp to add pedals. You have multiple distortions, reverb, delay and modulation built in... that's why you purchase a small modeling amp, so you don't have to use pedals.

Another reviewer noted he didn't like it because it faded in an out on the OD channels and assumed it was broken. It wasn't... the OD 1 and OD 2 channels have a built in "noise gate" to keep the hum down. If you aren't use to using one it can be a little bothersome. I don't know if this can be turned off in the software but we like it. It's not present on the other channels.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I have played just about every practice amp out there that's in the mainstream market. This one has a lot of perks.. all though a digital amp this modeling processor goes great with pedals on the warm channel if your gain is turned down to about 9 and you push the volume if too quiet push your pedal volume. I got some killer studio quality sounds with my zoom and digitech grunge with all while using a STRAT!!!! Do not use pedals with CAB simulation.....it sucks. The other channels are a hit and miss... i dont quite care for the other clean channel and the OD1 is very organic but it's all very ...whats the word im looking for... high def??? possibly the best digital amp on the market. go try one out!!!

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Modeling amps have gone a long way. Unfortunately like all modeling amps this one does not take pedals very well. Let me specify. Any pedal with a cab/amp simulation will sound very very terrible on this amp. Now lets say you have a raw analog amp then it will sound amazing. Ex. digitech grunge which sounds recorded metallica on the warm clean setting. The stereo function is not all what it is blown up to be either. I can not tell a difference in stereo and single amplifiers besides a little better clarity in sounds. With delays and reverbs engaged it doesnt feel surreal as to why I bought it in the first place by word of mouth of other users. Also these amps... ALL of these amp models have a hiss when anything is plugged up. If you have just a cable in or headphones in then this amp produces a white noise. There is nothing that can be done about it. One last bad side is that to even though you have some tone control you must have a PC to access the your bass middle and treble options. which sucks for people like me who only own a chromebook.

The good is this amp does produce a great tones that you can get to. the ISF knob bends the amp from american to British all with their own EQ settings. It's not a bad thing you don't have all the freedom but they give you the best sounds of a bad situation. The distortions used are really well executed. They sound like really top notch amps. However the less gain you use the more quiet your amp will get until it is silent so this is a double jeopardy as it acts as a volume knob. The special effects are all well but i wish it had more control with them. For example the chorus seems to lack power but the flanger seems to decay much harsher. This again can be due to the fact i do not have access to the software.

I do not know if I plan on keeping this amp yet. When it comes to other modeling amp in the same price range I would test it out before a purchas.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I always wanted to learn to play the guitar in which caused my wife to give me a beginner Les Paul type guitar for Christmas. I used the guitar for a quite awhile with out an amp and later purchased an iRig, which was cool but a pain with all the cords.
After countless blogs, YouTube videos, and reviews, I went to Guitar Center to actually try some. Going into the store and actually plugging in a guitar is very intimidating when you know like 2 cords. Nevertheless, I first asked for assistance and like usual the staff always brings you to the modeling amps. (I.e. Mustang I, Vypyr, and Spyder) I understand there is a lot of bang for the buck but that's not what I wanted. Modeling amps like those I just mentioned are still a large size amp for traveling when living out of a suitcase. Also I feel there is just too much stuff on those and I just don't need that at my skill level.
I was looking for a Marshall MG15CFX, Orange 20RT, and the Fender Champion 20 to check out. The MG wasn't carried in stock, the Orange I liked a lot but was bigger then I expected, and while the Fender was one of the choices, I didn't like the open back cabinet with traveling. I found the Blackstar just above the Orange and thought I would try that since it's small. I tried it for about 5 minutes, the controls are simple, and it sounded great for the size it is.
After I brought it home and begun using it, to me the reverb seems a bit week. There could be factors like low volume and how close I am to the amp. Otherwise, I love the amp for practice, the price, and the sound.

traded in my Marshall Valvestate 12AX7 because I can't play it loud enough to saturate the tubes to take full advantage of them without my wife divorcing me and I always like to have a backup amp. My main amp is an Acoustic Lead Series G20. I bought the Blackstar on name recognition alone. Bad move. Now I didn't download any patches for it, but out of the six pre-installed settings, it's awful. Can not get a warm tone out of any of them. Very nasal sounding and just a very processed and weak tone. I took it back to GC and got an Acoustic Lead Series G10 and a used Dunlop Cry Baby. The Acoustic's don't have all the bells and whistles, but a much warmer and fuller sounding tone. The G20 even sounded better than my Marshall and you can play small gigs with the G20. Save yourself some money and get either the Acoustic Lead Series G20 or G10. The G20 is an awesome practice amp that you could record or play small gigs with and the G10 is a solid and great sounding practice amp.

Hands down this is a perfect practice amp with a ton of great effects and features. I had initially thought to buy a Vox headphone amp. For $50 more I got this great multi-purpose amp which serves as a headphone amp and so much more.
