Overview

The ID:Core Stereo 10 V2 is a 2x5W ultimate entry level guitar amplifier. Incredible tone and flexibility is accessed by a simple and intuitive control set and delivered in SUPER WIDE STEREO to give an immersive playing experience that will have you hooked on playing guitar.

ID:CORE V2 represents the culmination of more than nine years’ technical Research and Development. These amps have an intuitive control set like a traditional amp, but have the versatility of programmability. The unique controls allow you, the guitarist, to custom design your own sound. The unique and enhanced Voice control has six different channels — Clean Warm, Clean Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. When used together with Blackstar's patented ISF control you can get the exact tone you're thinking of. The effects section delivers studio quality modulation, delay and reverb effects simultaneously that you can store with your sound.

Deep editing and storing of patches is simple using the Blackstar INSIDER software. Patches can be shared, uploaded and downloaded via the online community. The USB connector also allows you to record from your amp directly to your computer; new USB 2.0 functionality makes for easier recording and reamping, plus the ability to record just the preamp out for adding your own effects and cabinet emulation in the DAW/post-processing. An emulated output, MP3/line input and inbuilt panel-accessible tuner complete the package.

Adding to this, the inclusion of Presonus’ renowned Digital Audio Workstation software Studio One, gives you all the tools at your disposal for ultimate creative autonomy.

By using the unique Voice control and the patented ISF, ID:CORE Series amplifiers allow unparalleled flexibility and ease of use, enabling you to design the sound in your head and deliver it at home, in the studio or in rehearsal.

This is a small guitar amp that sounds big, not in the sense of high wattage but in terms the wide stereo sound. I've never played in a studio but playing this amp is like what I imagine playing your guitar thru sound monitors would sound like. It does not sound like an traditional practice amp that has a small single 6.5" or 8" speaker, it sounds better and fuller thanks to dual speakers. It has plenty of low end at reasonable volumes. Connect a music source to aux and you'll get a great sounding external speaker. IMO it sounds better than my Bose sound link, which makes playing along with music fun. Out of the box all the channels are usable and have their sweet spots. I left off 1 star due to the having only one writable on board preset option. 2 or 3 presets per channel would have been nice. You can connect online and save all the presets your heart desires. Connecting the amp online is where the amp shines, but out of the box it is still one of the best practice amps I've played. You can go from 5150 like roar to Twin Reverb chime. I have not used the recording software so I cannot comment on that.

The sound quality of this amp is pretty good for such a low priced, solid state amplifier. I moved into a condo, and out of respect for my neighbors, I bought this little amp. There are allot of choices out there for inexpensive practice amps but, this one had most of what I wanted, and is really quite small. It sounds good at low volumes, has 6 channels, plenty of modulation, delay and reverb effects, and a usb for hooking it up to my laptop. It comes with 6 sound settings pre-programmed into it, but you can easily overwrite them with your own patches. Unfortunately, you can only save one patch for each channel. Most players I know will use 2 or 3 channels 90% of the time, depending on what type of music they specialize in. It would be nice to have more than one set of presets for the channels you use most.
The line out, and aux input are indespensable on a practice amp, and this one has them. Also, the usb connection allows you to use recording software, and interface with Blackstar's Insider software. Unfortunately, the Insider software feels more like a smartphone app, than a fully functional software program. There is a flaw in the current version that Blackstar says they're working on. The flaw is that the metronome, and audio playback portions of the software don't work when you have the usb connected to the amp through the usb. Therefore, you can't use the patches stored on your laptop/ workstation while practicing using the metronome, or learning licks with the playback function of the software. Insider does allow you to slow down tracks without changing pitch, which is great for learning fast, and complicated pieces.
The amp also comes with recording software called Studio One. This software is also flawed. I have a brand new laptop (got it a week before the amp.) When I try to record my guitar, I can't hear anything. I tried a different sound driver to no avail.
Overall, I am satisfied with this amp as a low priced, practice amp.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10 V2 10W Digital Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Perfect practice amp in my situation. Costs less than a decent audio interface, has a lot of cool effects, comes with a free basic DAW and Insider for more control over patches. Plenty loud enough for any household practice. Cool stereo effect makes it sound fuller than the tiny speakers should. Sounds really good out of the headphone/emulated out whether just listening on headphones or recording to PC. Low power means it sounds good even at low volumes.

I've seen some mentions of it having "full range speakers" and being able to use it as a replacement for pc speakers or a music player and I disagree there. Passable as a speaker system but doesn't sound as good as even a $20 pair of logitech speakers.

A lot of amp for the money

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10 V2 10W Digital Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I have much larger amps and have gone thru several practice amps looking for one to take on getaways or small jam sessions. This amp gives lots of sonic options and is the most impressive one overall at twice the price. The clean warm setting gets the edge on all the cleans on others. This one has the closest to a tube-like tone. And the effects combinations add to its value. I personally have no use for he overdrive settings, but I'm sure they will suit those who do use them. Haven't tried in a studio yet, but I'm trusting that it will perform there as advertised. Very happy with it so far.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10 V2 10W Digital Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Purchased from Guitar Center, Birmingham AL for $99.99 plus tax.

Just around 15 years ago, I started out playing the electric guitar with a 30-watt Crate solid-state amplifier bought for around $150. I quickly moved on and got rid of that terrible amplifier, moving on to a tube combo as soon as money would allow. I would guess most guitarists have shared similar experiences, but times are clearly changing - I don't see any beginner outgrowing the Core 10 V2 quickly. There's also plenty to like for more advanced players, as well.

The build quality is more than adequate for it's intended purpose. This is absolutely not a gig-worthy amplifier in terms of volume output, but the cabinet feels reasonably sturdy and likely to survive a fair share of bumps and scuffs. It remains very light as well - I would guess ten pounds or less.

Don't be fooled by the diminutive size, the two 3" speakers put out an impressive amount of bass. There's a distinctly hi-fi sound to the Core 10, leading to a noticeable brightness of tone not present in comparable 1x8" combo practice amps. Not only do all of the models sound excellent at sub-conversation volumes, the effects sound very spacious and rich. The interface is intuitive and blessedly simple. The "ISF" tone knob makes it virtually impossible to dial in a bad sound, although I found it a bit boomy at 3 o'clock or higher.

Blackstar advertises that the Core can be connected to a Mac or PC as a recording / re-amping interface. No USB cable is included, and once I rustled up one and installed the "Insider" software for recording and deeper editing, I was unable to get the amp to connect. I'm using Windows 10 on a fairly high-spec computer. Not knocking a star off because I already have an interface and DAW and don't necessarily need this feature, but it's something to be aware of for potential buyers.

All in all, a phenomenally great-sounding practice amp at a stupidly low price. Anyone should have one of these in their collection.

    By Hans Gildan

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10 V2 10W Digital Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

More than I expected. For the price this thing does all sorts of cool stuff. Get the insider software going and you can further tweak eq and store your sound. I've been playing guitar for 17 years and this little practice amp blew my mind.

This amp responded very well to an overdrive pedal as a boost on either o.d. Channel. Cleans are very nice and clear. Effects are beyond expectation especially since the stereo feature works so well.

I bought this amp because I wanted something quicker to switch on and practice with decent sounds at a quiet level. Of coarse I still prefer my amazing tube amp & cabinet with roaring celestion 30's but, my wife, dog and cats appreciate this blackstar much more. Absolutely NOT just for beginners.

Last but not least, it handled the seven string better than expected, for those wondering.

I bought this as an inexpensive. Researched a lot. Played through comparably priced fender and box units. Researched and line 6 line up. Finally grabbed this. Could not be happier. I wanted something with a wide range of sound to inspire me to play more... This will do it. From the get go... Warm, clean, tone. Amazing bass response from a small package. Then I dialed in effects. I thought it might be confusing... But within 10 minutes I had a great blues sound, a perfect Pink Floyd tone, and an awesome heavy distortion tone. Out of the box. No downloads needed. I am really looking forward to working this amp. I'm sure experienced musicians want more. And probably not for gigging. But for a phenomenal sounding home amp... For those of us that just want to play... This is it.

Won't begin to say how long it took me with google and you tube to get it going. Other than that the amp sounds great on all aspects! Very user friendly and the tuner works decent. You can get an infinite amount crunch tones from it. For the money with the free version of studio one, this is a no brainer purchase. I'll be happy when I get the studio one down.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10 V2 10W Digital Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

So...finally I found that I want. I was looking for apm for beginner. I tried all available amps for $ 55-120. First I came to get Line6 classic 15 (tried, didn't like sound), but bought Acoustic leads series 20w (it was to loud for our townhouse, using max gain it's difficult to adjust volume), after couple days I decided that is definitely not that I want. I returned Acoustic and came to take Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 or BlackStar ID core. Why Black star? I like sound (Clean and Effects), easy to use, effects, loud enougth, dosen't take a lot of room and volume control more clear and easy to control. Our Gutirar Center had first version of IDCORE 10 on sale for $85...but I decided to go with V2.
