Overview

The HT-DUAL pedal from Blackstar's HT Range of tube overdrive pedals features true high-voltage (300V) circuitry and are packed with innovations and tone. The revolutionary, patent-applied-for tone-shaping feature ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) will redefine the tonal expectations of guitarists.

HT-DUAL pedal's Channel 1 has either Clean or Crunch modes so it can be used clean, as a boost or overdrive. Channel 2 gives distortion tones from super crunch right up to screaming lead. The unique switching operation will transform a single channel vintage amp into a 3-channel tone machine. The ISF control takes you from 'British Valve' to 'Modern American' and anywhere in-between.

Add to this the no-compromise, speaker-emulated output and you have the most cost-effective way of getting real tube tones direct to disk or tape.

Pure Tube Distortion
The HT-DUAL has high voltage tube design for true tube dynamics and feel. 2 cascaded ECC83 triode stages for gain from warm boost to screaming lead. Enhanced tone network for massive tonal flexibility with traditional passive network musicality. Patent-Applied-For ISF control allows access to infinite new sounds. Emulated output is a new benchmark design for pro direct recording sounds. High-integrity bypass for silent switching and driving long cables.

So whether you're playing live or recording, with the HT Range of pedals you can finally get the sound you want.

Great for Going Direct Live or Recording!

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I had been looking at this pedal for a while, and decided when it went on sale, it was worth a shot. I run a pedalboard straight into a mixer live in a worship setting, using monitors instead of amps due to space constraints and needed an OD pedal with a couple channels and GOOD guitar cabinet emulation. I stress that because some other affordable options I've tried (SansAmp, Tech 21, Digitech, as well as a myriad of digital units) all disappointed. Either too dark, or too thin and fizzy. Didn't really sound like a mic'd cabinet to me. This sounds much more like you're running into the front of an actual tube amplifier and have the cab mic'd. Very warm, complex, and harmonically rich distortion. I use a Taylor T5, and run this and an acoustic preamp in seperate loops, and A/B them into a few effects and straight to the house. It is an easy way to do acoustic and electric (clean or dirty) guitar with out lugging amps. It is versatile enough to cover a lot of styles, as others have said as well. Part of that is due to the excellent EQ and ISF controls. I don't use much high gain or scooped-mid stuff in what we do, but it does all that, along with the clear just-breaking-up tube overdrive and mid-focused lead tones I use. Great stuff, give it a try!

Amazing pedal for those that need more channels (clean, distortion 1, distortion 2)

By Max Lawson

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I LOVE this distortion pedal. The tone I get from it is incredible and the versatility is fantastic. I use it all the time and it really comes in handy at shows since I'm the lead guitarist. I use channel one for rhythm parts and channel two for my solos and both sound great. It also has top-notch construction. Lately I've been using the emulated output to plug straight into our mixer for rehearsals and the sound is close to miking my amp. I wish it was cheaper but it truly was worth the cost.

Amazing Tone and Ease of Use

By Jason Matsui

from California

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I spent months and months researching this pedal, since my local Guitar Center no longer carries Blackstar products. Since I had never used it, buying it was a gamble, but when I plugged it in, boy was I surprised. The tone I was getting was far superior to almost every other pedal I'd heard. The crunch channel is great for high-gain rock 'n roll. Cranking the gain on the clean channel and whaling on the guitar produces a sound fit for classic rock. Along with great tone, the HT-Dual is great for boosting during a solo. Channel 1 and 2 have separate gain and volume settings, making this a great pedal for the shredder. At home, I use an old, solid-state Line 6 Spider III. When playing shows, I borrow a Marshall combo amp, and set the amp to a pure clean channel. The HT-Dual along with a valve amplifier sounds amazing. Musicians who have twenty or more years of experience will come up to me and complement my tone and check out the HT-Dual with a very curious look on their face. If you can afford a Marshall or Blackstar full stack, then this pedal probably isn't for you. If you're anyone else, then you cannot pass up this buy!

King of Distortion Pedals!

By Nathan Kawa

from Brevard, NC

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

No lie, this is the King of Distortion Pedals! I have never been a fan of overdrive or distortion pedals. I am a pure tube amp guy and I have always believed your amp should provide the sound your looking for or get yourself another amp. Guitar-cable-amp, that was it. I bought this pedal as I was looking for something that would give me pure tube tone with a recording output I could plug directly into my DAW interface. This is not only the first distrotion pedal I have enjoyed, I love it. It delivers such versatile tone. With it's clean channel the options are virtually endless and allows you to contour and dial in settings for all your guitars. It does whatever I ask it to do. Simply awesome!

pretty good but some issues

By Robert

from Milpitas,CA

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This thing sounds great for anything from clean to hard rock. Really crisp and full of harmonics. The ISF is a great feature as well. This pedal doesn't really do metal but gets close. Problems: The stacked pots for gain and level have manufacturing issues. The top knob doesn't fit the shaft right, so they squish the shaft and it tilts the knob. This causes the knobs to rub and the bottom knob turns when the top one is turned. This can be fixed by the user. The switches feel cheap, I hope they hold up. Lastly, there is a short mute when switching between channels which makes it hard to use live. I'm glad I bought it...but there are some issues.

About Time

By Mark agostinelli

from Crownsville, MD

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This product lives up to it's reviews and the Blackstar name. I picked it up because I was looking for a "Creed" type of sound and found this product on line. After reading many reviews and articles I decided to purchase it without playing through one first. I don't know about you but I have mighty disapointed with bass effects pedals and "sound" you're supposed to be able to get out of them...THIS PRODUCT DELIVERS! I know it's not a "bass distortion"pedal, but it works and works very well. It does all that it claims to do and very simply at that. I don't get to play as often as I like so not needing an engineering degree to operate an effects pedal makes me happy. I want to play not diddle around with nobs and buttons. Oh and by the way it sounds awesome out of a Fender tube amp. Just sayin...it's worth every reasonable penny and then some.

Fantastic Tone

By Stephen

from Arkansas

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have tried many pedal/amp combinations. I have gone with a Mesa Boogie 5:25 Express and the Blackstar HT Dual. This pedal has greatly increased my tonal capabilities. It is amazing the sounds this thing produces vintage Brit to bright driving American and everything in between. Granted, the Mesa produces amazing tone on its own, with this pedal I feel I can dial in any sound I want and need for Rock and Roll and Blues from the 60's to present. If you are looking for vintage tones buy this pedal. It is an added bonus to have a speaker emulated line out. It would be better if it had a power switch. BTW is sounds better in the guitar path instead of an effects loop.

Blackstar HT is my now my lead out distortion!

By Rick Foulkes

from Chicago, Il

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have had a Tube screamer out in front of the the GT 500 Fulltone on my board and I thought I had my tone dialed until I loaded this one in line. Amazing flexability to get Fender to Plexi tone with the ISP and the two stage 300w tube is..well real! You are not dealing with mosfet here. This is bleed it out tube tone that you can stage for boost or full on buttery blast furnice! It found it place before the GT 500 which give me even more boost and seems to push the harmonics even tighter with it's great tone tweeking ability. Haven't used the DI but nice addition. One issue is the 16 volt power source that is not seen on my board power supply so I have to run it seperately but well worth it. If I had to gig with one pedal I would take this one!

Dual to the DEATH

By HeavyG

from Chicago IL

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have a project studio....and I am always looking for gear that drips tone. This is absolutely the most faithful reproduction of a high gain hand wired tube amp...and then some. With two channels (one can dial in a nice creamy overdrive...think of a tube screamer on roids) and the other to conjure the devil's teeth distortion from Hades...what more could you ask for? This is an extremeley versatile pedal that just sounds so sweet...and is built like a bomb shelter. Highly recommended...bravo Blackstar

Everything you will ever need!!!

By schechead

from Silver City, New Mexico

Comments about Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube Dual Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

First and foremost. . .I'm a tone-snob. I play through nothing but my hot rodded '69 Fender Bassman or my Carvin MTS 3200, because the clean tone they offer is superb, but I've alway had trouble finding a fat distortion without dropping $2k on a new amp. The Blackstar HT-Dual tube distortion solved any distortion problems IMMEDIATELY. I've owned the pedal for about a year now, and get nothing but praise for my tone (It's not always just the guitar player that makes beautiful noise.) The distortion is fat enough to play screaming leads over my shred-driven thrash metal riffs, and calm enough to break down into a lightly overdriven jazz rhythm to get the dance floor moving. As much of a tube-snob as I am, I've even plugged this into solid state amps and have been very satisfied because this produces TUBE-TONE. Just listen to nearly any album from Pantera to Kenny Wayne Shepherd and this pedal will give you that tone. Fat, screaming, metal leads all the way to nice compressed blues and jazz leads (given you have an option of single coil pickups in your guitar) all at the tip of your toe. Buy one if you need crisp clear distortion for any style.
