EL34s deliver 60W of awesome tube power through 2 high-quality Celestion speakers in this nicely priced boutique combo.

The Blackstar HT Stage 60's selected duet of EL34s deliver 60W of glorious tube power through 2 high-quality Celestion speakers, making for a combo that will deliver every night, even in the most testing live environment. The Blackstar amp's 'boutique' style clean channel is extremely versatile with 2 modes: 'British Class-A' and 'dynamic US'. Each of the amplifier's 2 ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) equipped overdrive channels allows a further 2 modes.

The Clean Channel on the Blackstar HT-60 combo has 2 modes, 'boutique' and 'modern' and its own Tone control provides a wide range of clean tones. The Voice switch reconfigures both the preamplifier voicing and gain structure, and the power amplifier damping, to reproduce either ringing Class A Performance in the 'boutique' mode, or very clean and tight Class AB tones in the 'modern' setting.

The Overdrive Channel has its own EQ section and a Voice switch that allows the character of the channel to be changed, providing a wide variety of overdriven tones. The channel is characterized by a tone that's high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end 'fizz' often found in similar designs. This is a result of the Blackstar HT-60 guitar amp's unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping techniques, which cleans up the overdrive beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. Even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channel on the Blackstar Venue HT-60 amplifier remains natural sounding. The ISF control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in tone shaping flexibility.

The ISF control shifts the response of the 3-control tone stack between a US-type response at one end, and at the other a UK-type response. The Blackstar tube amp provides an infinite number of alternative tone choices in between the 2 extremes that would be otherwise unavailable.

The Blackstar HT-60 guitar amp also features a completely natural sounding digital reverb, which is outstandingly musical on both clean and crunch tones and raises the benchmark for guitar amplifier specific reverb design. A Dark/Bright switch allows the overall reverb characteristics to be modified to suit different tastes and playing styles.

  • Great gigging amp

As reviewed by Sam on 12/13/2010

I searched for a gigging amp after I found my Tiny Terror lacking in headroom. The clean channel is pristine at loud levels. I'm in an indie/post-hardcore band, and I play clean lines over distorted guitar, bass, loud drums and vocals, and it cuts through without being too muddy, or getting lost in the mix. There are no problems or lags with channel switching, and reverb can be dialed in anywhere from really thick or just a touch to liven up solos and chords. The amps versatile with its tone switches, and channels. I can get a spanky, bright Fender sound from my Ibanez, and can play anything from John Mayer, Hendrix, and SRV to playing ACDC, Guns N Roses, to As I Lay Dying, Death, and metal etc. This amp basically covers the gamut of decades of rock. The biggest complaint is that the ISF feature seems less interactive than it did on the HT-5, which had seen a bigger change in tone with even the slightest turn of the knob. And plus, its more suited for modern tones, than classic rock, even though it does those sounds fairly well. Try it out in store to get a better idea. I recently let a friend in a local deathcore band play it, and it easily competed with the Crate tube head and 4x12 cab, and sounded ten times better and louder. My friend's leads cut through with warm, buttery tube saturation even with the massive amounts of gain on the third channel. The chug sound was great, and it never sounded too harsh or noisy when being played. If you have money, and need a metal amp, go with this amp over a 6505 plus, or a Peavey, as the Peavey has too much of a harsh, shrill distortion character that sounds like old T.V. static. For classic rock and blues, it still does a great job of doing just about everything.

  • Worth every penny!

As reviewed by Michael Lopez on 10/31/2010

Features: First off the two Celestion 80 speakers are some of the best sounding output I have found. Secondly the ISF blender is probably one of the most useful features on this amp weather I want to play something like AC/DC to more of a modern US tone. The next thing I saw was the 3 way switching on the amps. The clean gives me a nice bluesy tone I can work around with easily. As for both OD's my first is more so for my 6 string for more of a melodic distortion rather than a crunchy heavy one. As for the second OD I use it with my '98 Ibanez RG & string guitar and I gives me some of the nicest "Chugs" I can puty out there. Quality and Reliability: Well I just got the amp, but noticing the other recent reviews on this as well as other sites it seems to last a long time. Also the feel of the material as well as the quality of the knobs is great I personally have dinked a few things with the amp and there where no damages to the exterior of the amp, of course that is my personal experience I would not recommend testing out how much damage a work of art like this could take. Look and Feel: Worth the weight and the feel is Great! Nough said. Buy one trust me it will be worth it.

  • Outstanding Amp and Sound!

As reviewed by Ernie on 1/12/2011

I had before a Fender Blues Deluxe which the sound for blues is outstanding. I played rock tunes on it as well with a Boss DS1 and sounded sweet. I've had this Fender amp for 10 years, played on gigs and so on. I wanted a new amp tried out many: Fender, Mesa, and then I pluged in this monster and yes, I found it. The sound is vintage clean and the overdrive is classic rock and for todays' sound. But then I hooked up a Boss Power Stack pedal and man this amp had many different sounds from Gary Moore blues to White Snake. I took it home and played it for hours and after three days of playing it, the sound just got better as the tubes are now broken in and when they heat up, the roar with clarity is just mind blowing. Those celestion speakers are the bomb! This is an amp to purchase and when the volume is raised to 3, the sound on this baby is amazing. I play on gigs with a wah, Boss power stack, Boss DS1, Boss digital delay, Boss Flanger, and Boss Chorus and equalizer. Everything sounds sweet on this amp.
