A 30W programmable combo with flexibility to spare.

ID: Series Amps
Blackstar's ID: Series represents a truly groundbreaking achievement, combining unique innovations, an intuitive, traditional control set and the versatility of programmability. In the five years since its launch, Blackstar has been helping lead the way in the innovation of guitar amplification. The ID: Series represents the culmination of more than seven years technical research and development. The unique controls allow you to custom design your own sound, store it and then have the confidence that the amp will perform in a live environment.

Blackstar's True Valve Power offers six distinctly different power valve responses - EL84, 6V6, EL34, KT66, 6L6, KT88. When engaged, it delivers the response, dynamics, sag and break-up characteristics of a valve amp and uniquely delivers the same acoustic power output as an equivalent valve power amp. This means that for the first time ever, in an affordable series of amplifiers, these products deliver live without compromise - True Valve Power means loud as valve.

The Voice control has six different channels - Clean Warm, Clean Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. When used together with Blackstar's patented ISF control you can get the exact tone you're thinking of. The effects section delivers studio quality modulation, delay and reverb effects simultaneously that you can store with your sound. Deep editing and storing of patches is simple using the supplied Blackstar GUI software. Patches can be shared, uploaded and downloaded via our online community. The USB connector also allows you to record your amp directly to your computer. An emulated output, MP3/line input and midi footswitching functionality complete the package.

By using the unique Voice control, patented ISF and patent-applied-for True Valve Power, these amplifiers allow unparalleled flexibility and ease of use, enabling you to in effect, design the sound in your head and deliver it live as loud as valve. Individuality is power.

  • Great little amp!! Great value!

As reviewed by JAY on 12/7/2014

If you have been playing for a few years, this would make a great upgrade amp from your starter amp. I am a longtime player and still found it to be a great option for jamming around the house. Ok... this is a great amp for the price. I play a Mesa Mark V and also use an AVID Rack 11. No it is not going to compare to those. It does however make a really nice portable option for an on the go, tuck under my arm, all in one amp that sounds great. I play a Les Paul w/ EMG's through it and it sounds great for everything from fender type shimmering cleans to Vox-ish modern edge, to balls out Mesa type way over drive. Oh, and I traded a Marshall tube head for this thing and the programmable pedal and yes it does that sound pretty well too. No, as I stated before, it won't sound just like a $2,500 tube amp... of course not. But it is a great portable practice or small gig option where it doesn't make sense to carry in your half or full stack. The effects are very good... not super flexible unless you use the software to edit. The programmable footswitch is a must if you are going to play out. Even with that if you are used to a pro rig you might be used to a little more flexibility but don't let this stop you. this amp is wwwaayyyy better sounding and feature rich than any other amp anywhere near this price range in my opinion. The Andertons have a review on youtube. Check that out. I have been playing a lot of inexpensive amps to try to find something in a one box does it all, simple, and doesn't cost what my Mark V did solution and this one was very pleasing to my ears. I have played from ameture to pro level and back for 40+ yrs. It's a great little amp at a very good price. Surprisingly loud.

  • 1000 amps in one

As reviewed by BILL on 7/26/2015

After a year of use it was time to update my review. In the meantime I second guessed my purchase and looked to Fender and Vox modeling amps in the past year. Things learned easy to dial in a (tone) Blackstar provides . With time and experimentation find your sweet spot. Metal players will love this amp however, other styles like Jazz, Country, ect., which this amp does well. No S.S. amp ever sounded like a tube amp and modeling has come close but never the characteristics tube amps however, Blackstar has accomplished this. I will say that that the amp works close to a tube amp but doesn't respond exactly like a tube amp when turning down the guitar volume but close enough and better than any modeler or Solid State amp. 30 years ago I would have spent $1000's for the sound I get from the ID:30. Tube likeness: 91/100. Pros: (1) TVP: Not an emulation in the Modeling sense but the characteristics of a specific Tube. Dial in the tonal characteristics of an amp sound. There are a lot of amp modelers out there but Blackstar has nailed it by mimicking the ELECTRIC OUTPUT signature of a tube output and not mimicking a SONIC signature of a type of amp. Instead of modeling amps it models tubes electronic signatures. I can get the amp to sound like a boutique, Brit, American, or Hi Gain within seconds. It is really easy to figure out. This is truly is a thousand amps in one (2) Voicing: Go from clean to Metal-riffic, I favor the crunch voice and clean bright. With a combination of TVP and Voicing. You will be able to dial in the sound you are looking for regardless of style. (3) ISF: I lean towards American Equalization but is you want that Dark English sound the ISF is a great tool to have. (4) 128 patch capability. Cons: (1) No TRUE speaker output. (2) No TRUE effects loop....The headphone output is a little tricky. First it isn't very loud. You also have to turn down the master volume all the way to keep from sound coming from the amp. I also tried to use the headphone output through a Ditto X2 looper to feedback in to the Mp3 input but due to low volume output from the headphone output render this pretty much unusable. (3) No Mid control. ON-BOARD EFFECTS: are usable but and will save hauling pedals around. However the effects are 3.3 out of 5. (NOTE) there is no MID EQ on the amp itself but can be edited with insider software. (NOTE II) Though there is no MID or Presence controls on the amp you can set them without software by using Tap and (Treble for Presence) or (ISF for Mid) SOUNDS: good at low levels for practicing at home and still loud enough for small gigs without losing its cleanness at loud volumes. There are a lot of amps that are loud but lack the forwardness/projects... Loudness and richness that Blackstar delivers. BUILD: is solid and looks like it will hold up for years to come. Blackstar USB/Insider: With the use of Blackstar Insider software makes editing patches easy and painless. The BS. Insider app will allow you to dial in your sound easier and change the the patches in a way that will follow a natural set list. BS Insider also has a metronome, tuner, and virtual tape player to jam along with tracks when connected via USB to a computer. BS Insider is easy to use and you can download it for Mac or Windows for free. It also allows you to upload or download patches that other users have submitted. THE SKINNY: This Amp Rocks! The Blackstar amp without TPV sounds like Crate Solid State amp. Easy to use the TPV on the amp has 6 tube types and can be adjusted to be any amp you want. Go further and use the ISP to lean towards American or Brit EQ to further dial in your sound. Loud enough for small venues. It is that simple.
