A small-yet-mighty tube tone machine!

The HT-5RS mini stack combines the HT-5RH head with two 1x12 Blackstar voiced speaker cabinets. The innovative Blackstar HT-5H guitar amp head offers unbelievable tube sound in a compact format. Using the dual-triode 12BH7 wired in a push-pull circuit, you get the crunch and break-up characteristics of a traditional 100-watt amp at a much lower volume. This design creates a sound rich in tube harmonics and compression even at the lowest levels.

The HT-5H's three-band EQ is augmented by the Infinite Shape Feature (ISF), which provides infinite new tone-shaping control. The emulated speaker output/headphone output offers both 1x12" and 4x12" settings - great for recording or practice.

Blackstar HT Series HT-5RS Guitar Mini Stack Features:

  • Power: 5Watt (tube)
Tubes: one 12AX7 (preamp) one 12BH7 (power amp)
Unique push pull power amp design
    Award-winning HT Pedal preamp
    Two footswitchable channels
    Speakers: 2x12" Blackbird 50 speakers
    Enhanced tone controls
    Patent-Applied-For Infinite Shape Feature (ISF)
    Digital Stereo Reverb
Fully equipped for studio or practice
Speaker emulated output with 1x12 or 4x12 voicing

  • Are you a player or a guitarist?

As reviewed by Kenneth Loseman on 6/13/2013

Some people will buy a $2500 LP Custom with a beautiful burst and a $1500 Marshall/Mesa and others will buy the $700 Gibson LPJ and the Blackstar HT-5 and mic it. The Custom/Marshall guy will look cooler but the LPJ/Blackstar guy will sound better. This is the perfect amp. It's the one you practice with AND gig with. I've been playing over 20 years, owned dozens of amps, and not one of them had the incredible tones, versatility, or portability of this little gem. If you can't find 'your tone' here, then it's probably not your amp OR your guitar.

  • Awesome little work horse

As reviewed by Kyle J Ferris on 8/20/2012

Awesome little work horse the companies motto holds true "the sound in your head". I have been able to create some awesome tones with this stack. You can get close to the Marshall sound, I should say close. The only way to get that tone exact is to buy a marshall. But this stack does it and more, I have shelfed my Peavey Vypyr 60W tube for this bad boy and all I can say is I am still in awe everytime I use it. Clarity on the clean channel is really good, I noticed people have been saying negative things about the cleans. I haven't had an issue, but one thing I will tell you is don't be fooled by 5W this sucker can get loud. I am sure you could use it to gig small clubs and such. The real amazing sound is when you use analog pedals on the clean channel nice even tube tone. If you are serious about playing and don't want to piss off the neighbors this stack is for you!

For a 5 watt amp, this is pretty darn loud. I bought this as a practice amp; when I finally brought it home, I just cranked it all the way, and the first strum on my guitar was scary... I ended up having to stick a volume pedal in the effects loop (which I found to be effective in lowering the volume, but preserving most of the tone). Speaking of tone, this amp packs great variety from clean to bluesy crunch to heavy distortion. What I love the most about this amp is that every knob on the amp responds to every touch of your finger. Once you get used to the amp, it's very easy to know how to get the sound in your head (as it says on the brochure) by turning how much of which knob. There are definitely "greater" amps out there. But nothing will get you all the variety, functionality, and the cool look of a stack in your bedroom at this price.
