Mighty tone from a mini half-stack.

This mini half stack from the HT Series pairs the Blackstar HT-5H guitar amp head with the HT-110 speaker cab delivers great tone during practice or studio work at any volume level.

The Blackstar HT-5H Guitar Amp Head
The HT-5H tube guitar amp from Blackstar is ideal for studio work or practice, packing all the great tone and innovative features of the award-winning HT tube pedals into a 2-channel, footswitchable tube amp format. The patent-applied-for ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) circuit gives you infinite adjustment over the characteristics of the tone control network and takes your tone from the USA to the UK and any where in between. So now you can effectively design your own tone and finally find "that sound in your head."

In making the Blackstar HT-5H ideally suited to home and studio use, the aim was to develop a tube amp that sounded full in tone even at the lowest volume level. With this in mind Blackstar designed a brand-new tube power amplifier topology. The HT-5H power amplifier is a low-powered, push-pull design that produces the crunch and breakup characteristics of a traditional 100W output but at a much lower volume via its 12BH7 dual-triode in push-pull configuration producing 5 watts output and delivers rich invalve harmonics and compression.

The HT-5H amplifier head also has a fully specified speaker-emulated output, further enhancing its studio credentials and allowing any guitarist to get amazing tube tone straight to tape or disk, or through headphones. It also features the unique 4x12/1x12 voicing switch, allowing you to change the tonal characteristics of the emulated signal between 2 emulated cabinet types.

Add to this an effects loop with switchable level, along with 16-ohm and 8-ohm speaker outputs allowing you to run the amp into an external speaker cabinet of your choice, and you have everything you need for recording or practicing.

The HT-110 Cabinet The Blackstar HT-110 speaker cabinet packs 40W RMS and a 10" Celestion speaker for superb power delivery, and at under 24 pounds it goes wherever your music takes you.

NEW REVIEW - all I can say is wow!

I tried this amp out at a local guitar center on the advice of the store manager, I was looking for a british amp that could be played at low volume and still scream like a DSL 100. When I first saw this amp I thought it was merely a toy but once I flipped it on my jaw dropped to the floor. The cleans on this amp are incredible, I was completely blown away. That's just where the amazment just started, once I flipped over to the distortion channel I couldn't believe my ears! This amp sounds better than a DSL, its got that sceaming overdrive but still manages to keep the notes very clean. I still can't believe how much pure tube tone you can get out of such a small package!

It Sounds Better Than "The Sound in Your Head"

I was looking for an amp that sounded good at a low volume but would also keep up with a drum kit. I considered a Fender Blues Jr. but am happy that I found this through a friend. It sounds really good at very low volumes and gets louder than any "hobbyist" will ever need. The gain is really sensitive and produces great semi distorted tones and full on overdrive is as dirty as you can get. The ISF feature is really cool and I'm finding a lot of interesting different sounds using my Gibson '61 reissue. The clean channel is also really crisp and I think this amp's only lacking feature is a revereb option. BUY this amp, I would have paid twice as much for it.

Monster tone in such a small package!!!!

I bought mine about 4 months ago. I went to go check out the amp in person after i saw it online. first impressions was this amp had balls! I tryed to buy just the head but they only sold it as a mini stack. So about 2 weeks later i went back and picked it up. Got a super good deal on it too. I run a boss DS-1 in front of the amp and a sonic stomp in the effects loop. Holy crap this thing sounds MASSIVE!!!!! gives it a Mesa like gain. I play in drop C and the chunk it has it just amazing! the ISF control really gives you tons of tone options. The cabs are very well built. at first i wasnt sure about the 10' speakers but they get the job done and then some. As a full stack this thing is LOUD for only being 5 watts. not sure if it could keep up with a drummer but micd you should have zero problems. the clean channel was surprisingly very good. with the boost it breaks up really nicly. This amp is a VERY good value. I just told the guy it was a floor model and the cables that "came" with the amp were really bad. I got the amp for 430. Oh i also put in a new 12ax7 tube. power tube is stock. My only issue with this amp is that the clean channel shares the eq with the other channel. to me its not a big issue since i dont use that channel but its something to keep in mind.

Smoken!

I sometimes over analyze things, I have been searching for practice/recording tube amp. I have played all the major brands with no joy. That is until I plugged into this little beast. Looking for that sound in your head? well if you can find it with this jewel then you would have to be tone deaf. Clean channel rivals my vintage Fender while the overdrive has all the breakup/distortion of a Marshall stack. Try it you will like,I did. This is a must have for practice or recording.

Unbelieveable little amp with big sound!!

I highly recommend the HT-5 head. It's feature packed, with two footswitchable channels, an effects loop, and a great gain shaping feature. You can dial in a good Marshall style gain or US high gain, or anything in between. They even included the footswitch, something I wish other companies would do. The amp has decent cleans, not quite Fender-ish. For bedroom/practice volume, the 1x10 speaker does well. It doesn't take alot of volume before it breaks up, but I've heard similar results with other small amps. If your intentions are to gig with this amp, I'd recommend a larger speaker cab. A 2X12 or 4x12 would really open up the headroom.
