Tube-driven metal tone built for the studio or practice.

The Blackstar HT1MC 1W 1x8” combo is a stripped-down, tube-driven metal monster that you can actually play without drawing the wrath of your neighbors. It can handle tones from classic British heavy metal to modern U.S. scooped high gain, and all sonic places in between.

Its two-channel design (Clean and Overdrive) features easy-to-adjust controls, presenting just four knobs: Volume, Gain, Reverb and EQ via Blackstar’s patented Infinite Shape Feature that gives infinite adjustment over your tone characteristics. Couple that with a rugged construction, true tube power through one ECC83 and one ECC82, stereo reverb, stereo aux. line in and external speaker output — and this is a potent tool created to melt faces, but without the public-nuisance charges.

  • Best 1 watt amp

As reviewed by Robert Green _ on 3/12/2014

Great metal sound and surprisingly good cleans. High quality construction. Excellent low end and volume for a small amp, perfect for home or recording. I also own a Vox AC30C2, and Carvin Vintage 16, and am extremely impressed and satisfied with Blackstar.

  • Superior amp!

As reviewed by Robert Green _ on 3/13/2014

I was first impressed with Blackstar when I purchased one of their pedals for my AC30 amp. Looking for a metal amp for home playing, I checked out the Blackstar website and listened to some on-line videos and decided to buy the HT Metal 1 amp without actually trying one out. This amp is awesome! I attained a heavy crunch and surprisingly brilliant cleans. Then, I pushed the overdrive button and was blown away by the heavy metal tone I could achieve. The infinite shape feature definitely gives a USA or UK heavy metal sound. Playing and closing your eyes makes you believe a full metal stack is going off! For what it's worth, the Marshall 1 watt amp cannot even get close to the Blackstar in tone and versitility. The quality is superb.

  • Metal Misnomer

As reviewed by TROY on 5/26/2015

This is not just a metal amp, but a great general purpose practice and recording amp with a fantastic overdrive section. At $169.00 it's a steal. It's basically an HT-1R with an upgraded chassis. It's a solid little beast. I'm using it with an Agile 3100MC (nice Les Paul-style clone) and a Planet Waves American Stage guitar cable. The ISF EQ feature allows significantly different voicing of the amp that interacts with the bridge and neck tone controls plus single coil settings for the split coils for a wide diversity of tones. True, I wouldn't mind dedicated bass, middle, and treble EQ knobs as well for fine tuning, but this is a simple solution that gets to work fast. The headphone/line out is, as others have noted, fantastic for recording out without worry of room noise (or divorce). I use a portable Zoom H5 with Planet Waves TRS to dual TS Y-cable for monitoring in headphones, tuner, and metronome. The stereo reverb sounds great in the headphones for practice, but I'll skip it when recording and add reverb in Ableton. Down the road, I plan to pull the broad signal into Ableton for full effects processing, compression, and EQ. I like the simplicity and flexibility of the amp. It's basically a highly portable, multi-voice practice, recording, and headphone amp in one. With my Les Paul-style guitar, the sound is immense and warm, even tilted to the "US" side of the ISF spectrum. You can set the amp to break up at maximum volume, then pull back the volume controls on the guitar to clean up the sound, or just snap the Humbuckers into single coil mode for an immediately sweetened tone. It's very organic, responsive, and symbiotic. I don't think you have to worry as much about cable matching with this amp and can lean toward high resolution as you can always easily dial in warmth with ISF.
