I admit that these headphones produce a solid sound - BUT watch out! Mine worked very well - UNTIL one day when any low frequency sound began to produce a troublesome rattling - rendering them essentially useless. This wasn't just exceptionally low or high amplitude sounds - even the cello on a string quartet recording would cause prominent buzzing. Since I was still under warranty, I attempted to contact customer service - no less than TEN times - via both e-mail and telephone - to no avail. Not even a single return message. So $200+ wasted. My experience may not be typical, but be forewarned.

DT 770 Pro-80 --For bassheads

By Denl82

from NJ.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I've had these headphones for 3 months now. As I was coming from a low-end setup, the dt770/80 blew me away. Their extra clarity is amazing; the soundstage--something cheap headphones completely lack--add an extra dimension to music; and their elevated bass response makes these cans premier for gaming. Its last attribute, however, makes it strictly for bassheads if one has critical ears, as bassheavy music will sound, well, a bit TOO bassheavy. Overall, however, the dt770 Pro-80 is an excellent can and well worth the money I paid for it. Oh, and I can drop this headphone on my hard tile floor with no worries: they're just built...OhhhHhHHH like a rockkkkkk.

Really comfortable headphones

By Grizz

from Detroit

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

The highlight of these headphones are their fabric lining around the phone pads. The comfortable fabric is a refreshing alternative to the usual vinyl headphone lining which can get sticky and isn't breathable. Also these headphones are pretty easy to adjust to fit, and stay very secure. From a sound perspective, the frequency response is very accurate. There doesn't seem to be any hyped reproduction of the lows, mids, or highs. The only thing that one could be concerned about is that these headphones are not as loud as some others on the market. So, in a live situation, such as DJ'ing, the DT 770's may not have the output necessary to hear over a live PA system.

I'm an Engineer

By Rant_dot_com

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

Most FUN you can have with a headphone. I have critical ears and perfect pitch, let me tell you, you will not find a better sounding punchy bass headphone. I listen at low volumes. Bass WITHOUT losing midrange and highs. I'm purchasing my 3rd pair. All still working great over 2 hard years of everyday use.

Get the Warranty

By Tex

from Hockley, TX

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I've had these headphones for just a little over a year now and the small jack has started to short out. I've taken great care not to crimp the end. I was not impressed with this aspect of these headphones to begin with. I am very surprised that a company that makes higher end products such as these, doesn't make them a bit more rugged. I did get the 2-year warranty with these and would recommend it to anyone considering these headphones. You can't go to a Guitar Center store and trade them out. You ship them off and they send you a gift card for price+tax. Then you get to go back to the store and purchase them all over again. Seems like you should be able to just take them to the store and swap them out and let Guitar Center take care of the rest. Oh well, at least I'll be able to replace them. As far as the sound quality of these headphones, I am more than pleased. These are the best set of studio headphones I've owned and I am going to replace them. They're very comfortable to wear for extended periods. They really isolate the sound very well. Great for drummers. I have no doubt as to what my recordings will sound like with these headphones. What you sound like is what you'll hear on the playback. I would recommend these with the warranty. Cause ya nevah know!!!!!

These Cans Can Be Yours...And They Should!

By L-Productions

from Lancaster, PA

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I purchased these headphone after comparing them to the AKG 240s cans. Their response range was greater and recommended over the AKG set by several people. After extensive research I decided to purchase the Beyerdynamics. They are AMAZING headphones! Their clarity is pristine and allows the user to hear much more detail. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear as well. Since I do not own a set of studio monitors I need to strongly rely on a great set of headphones. My first mix on these cans hugely improved the overall sound of my mixes. I let the artists use these as well when they are recording in my studio and they immediately noticed the difference with these cans. Everything is better with these Beyedynamics!!! I have yet to listen to commercial music through it but I cannot imagine that they wouldn't dominate in that arena as well.

Sound great, but not as accurate as advertised.

By Big 3rd

from Detroit

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

You know how most of us do it when we listen to our favorite tunes in the car...usually we kick up the highs and the bass, having the eq "smiling" back at us. Well, this is what these headphones sound like. No doubt, they sound great. But I personally don't want my mixes to sound great because of a nice set of headphones that have been hyped for me. I want my headphones to reflect what I've got going at ALL frequencies. This set is very much hyped at the low end...way too much. I, personally, like my set to be flat as a board. Of course, you probably aren't mixing to a set a headphones. But when you wanna check your mixes and the details, it's nice to have another accurate frame of reference that will translate the flaws and virtues of your mixes. I actually prefer the audio technica ATH M45's. Flat as a board. Takes a minute to get used to if you use to the "hyped" sound...but your mixes (especially your low end) will translate a lot better. 5 stars in overall sound...3 stars in accuracy.

The price of quality.

By Adam Nelson

from Culver City, Ca

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I was really trying to find the best headphone for the money. I find my self working into the wee hours of the night frequently. So I am not always able to use my monitor speakers on all my edits. I was turned on to Beyerdynamic through my trusted audio guy. So I tried a pair in the store and fell in love with the sounds that were presented to me through these headphones. It was just amazing to hear that grade of sound for such decent price point. I have to have all my audio on point or people will be experiencing bad TV. I now use my Beyerdynamic headphones over my monitor speakers all the way through my edits now. I just can't take them off.

Perfect headphones for my home studio

By Gregg Brickner

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I've had these headphones for six months or so. I use them with GarageBand on my Mac, a Line 6 UX2, and my Les Paul. These are really fantastic headphones. The sound quality is superb (and I'm comparing them to $350 earphones). They have a long straight cord that snakes around all your gear, with a 1/4" adapter you can take off to expose a 3.5mm plug to use with your iPod. They are very light. They are very comfortable, the earpad material is very fluffy and fits my head perfectly, while the headband is soft and comfortable. I can wear them for hours with no problem - they don't "overheat" my ears or make them sweat. The construction quality is very good, it looks like they will last a long time. The design is very no-nonsense, high-tech, and good-looking. I have been extremely happy with my 770s.

Best Headphones EVER!!!

By Ryan

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I bought these headphones in 2008 from Guitar Center and they still work marvelously. 2008 people. Minus normal wear and tear these headphones still look brand spanking new. Best investment you can make in headphones. 2008 people. That's 6 years of having the same headphone (about to be 7). Considering buying Beats by Dre? No thank you. DT 770 Pro are the best headphones ever hands-down. They give you a real clean sound where you can identify each individual instrument and vocal. Really good to use for studio heads who want to mix their vocals to just the right level without being bounced out by overpowering bass. Make no mistake about it these headphones have an excellent kick/thump to them but it won't drown you out of the overall musical experience. The cushioning feels great around the ears and is wearable for hours at a time (easily a full day). They grip your head perfectly without being overpowering and are made out of great material. My headphones from 2008 have not changed much from the 2014 sold design. I have tried on the new version and alternated and they remain with the companies signature clean sound. You can experience a great time with these. The cord is long enough so you can stand up and do vocals with the headphones plugged in. These are not gym headphones. Take good care of them - not that they are delicate - they are actually quite sturdy and reliable but I would never disrespect these headphones by filling them up with sweat. Alright that is my review - hope it helped.

Comfortable and accurate

By Fuzzball

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

These headphones are very comfortable (I can wear them for hours at a time). These are closed dynamic headphones with very good isolation. I found that these are great for drummers or monitoring a PA system. The headset is built to last and they are built to fit the head very well. These things are amazingly comfortable. I would recommend these if you plan on having to wear headphones for a long period of time!

Great Pro Headphones

By Shamrocker123

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I bought the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80 Closed Studio Headphones along with my Lexicon Omega desktop studio interface, and my Groove Tubes GT-55 Vocal Condensor Mic. I can honestly say they are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. They make those long days of mixing and monitoring not nearly as stressful. The phones deliver an almost True sound and thus far i've been unable to match their quality anywhere. Totally worth the cash.

A good pair of cans...

By Recordjunkie5

from Nashville, TN

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I purchased these phones about four months ago to use while tracking and mixing for school projects. They are real comfortable, and have a good overall sound, though I think they lack a little in the low bass frequencies. Overall, I would reccomend these; just check your mix in a pair of nearfields after the session.

Maybe too good for some jobs

By Porkchop

from WPB, FL

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I got a pair of DT770s, and I was hearing things I never heard before. They were Excellent. Then I started in a new (lower end) studio and I was picking so little sounds, it was distracting to me but no one else in the studio could hear it, they are that sharp. Also if you wear them for more than 2 hours in a shot they can get a little warm, but overall an amazing pair of cans.

Great Headphones

By Lottọۡ of Mach 1 Music

from Worcester, MA - Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I just bought a pair of these headphones and they're great for monitoring your mixes in critical listening environments. The clarity is unbelievable and so is the frequency response. With a response of 5 - 35,000Hz you can hear everything you missed in your mixes. The bass response is amazing, maybe too amazing, so you best have other reference monitors around when mixing the low frequencies just to double check. Overall, AMAZING headphones and I definitely recommend them to anyone interested in a HQ pair of professional headphones.
