The Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro is the most comfortable and accurate headphones in their pricerange, or even a little above. These headphones will not kill your head during tracking or extended listening sessions. They are extremelely accurate, making them great for listening to your favorite music, and getting the best mixes from your recordings. If you are passionate about music, then use headphones that are just as wonderful as the music coming through them.

The 770's got re-spec'd (check the Beyerdynamic site, they are quite clear about it) so old reviews, or references to older stock in newer reviews can be misleading. The newer model seems less robust, less durable, and is definetly +8 db at 100 Hz, so the bass is fat. The older model is flatter with a wider soundstage. Both are rediculiously comfortable, even with the Pro designation and the incresed clamping force. So these would be comfy and fun, with a fat bass - not flat and accurate studio phones... if you are running a separate headphone monitor bus, you could EQ them adequately enough, but don't expect it to be right out of the box. Unfortunately the pair I received started to crackle in the right after about 15 minutes of use, which is supposed to be the telltale for impending right side failure, so those were returned as defective the next day.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

These cans are my absolute favorite studio headphones. I do a lot of home recording and prefer cans to monitors for keeping the sound levels in check in my home. I have mixed entire sessions on these and use them for tracking often. I tried the 250ohm version and sold them for another pair of the 80ohms. After trying quite a few different pairs of studio headphones I always come back to these beyers! They are super comfortable. with the velvet like liners and are extremely durable. I swear I have dropped these on the hard floor a dozen or so times and never a break! When you first get them the treble can be slightly overwhelming but that will subside once they are broken in. These do require a bit longer of a break in period then other models I have owned but afterward you are set in the studio with a serious pair of cans. I highly recommend these and honestly prefer not to use anything else. I even take them with me if I record in other studios!

Great close headphones

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

One of the best close can at the lower bracket pricing. The DT770 is very comfortable. I like the tight fit it has as I feel it's secure but at the same time the pads and fits are one of the best in comfort. It can be worn for hours without having to adjust or worries about stickiness and sweat inducing.
As for sounds, good bass that goes deep without being too muddy or cover up the rest of sound frequencies. The mids are good and can be push up a little bit more up front, but nothing that is really lacking. The highs are present without being analytical. I mainly use these as my movie cans or for travel. The only thing I wish it had is for the cable to be removable as I don't really need a 10' cable. I never understand 10' cable as I think 5-6' is plenty for avg. consumer. I own many more expensive headphones all the way up to the hd800,T1, HE500 etc. and these are staying in my stable. I want to comment one more time about the comfort, these are more comfortable than my DT880! The headband is more comfortable, fit is tighter/more secure, and the pads are thicker.

      Best Headphones EVER!!!

      By Ryan

      from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I bought these headphones in 2008 from Guitar Center and they still work marvelously. 2008 people. Minus normal wear and tear these headphones still look brand spanking new. Best investment you can make in headphones. 2008 people. That's 6 years of having the same headphone (about to be 7). Considering buying Beats by Dre? No thank you. DT 770 Pro are the best headphones ever hands-down. They give you a real clean sound where you can identify each individual instrument and vocal. Really good to use for studio heads who want to mix their vocals to just the right level without being bounced out by overpowering bass. Make no mistake about it these headphones have an excellent kick/thump to them but it won't drown you out of the overall musical experience. The cushioning feels great around the ears and is wearable for hours at a time (easily a full day). They grip your head perfectly without being overpowering and are made out of great material. My headphones from 2008 have not changed much from the 2014 sold design. I have tried on the new version and alternated and they remain with the companies signature clean sound. You can experience a great time with these. The cord is long enough so you can stand up and do vocals with the headphones plugged in. These are not gym headphones. Take good care of them - not that they are delicate - they are actually quite sturdy and reliable but I would never disrespect these headphones by filling them up with sweat. Alright that is my review - hope it helped.

Great headphones! Complete clarity from the sub frequencies to the highs. Great for monitoring mixes if you are an audio engineer or just a music enthusiast. These things just sound really good. I bought 1 for my studio and 1 for my home set up. Best headphones I've used thus far

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

Have been a headphone fanatic since my first exposure to a pair of on-ear Senns some 30 years ago. I've had all types of headphones since then, but still keep reaching for the over-ear models.

The earpads on these headphones are cavernous, huge and deep. I find that very comfortable.

These phones also have deep bass that my ATH-M50 and VSIO HP-50 do not have. They won't add bass, but if it's there you will hear it. I do not have a studio, or a mixer, just frequent at home listening, so I can't say either way if they are suitable for "pro" listening. But they excel for me, especially because of the excellent low-frequency response.

I purchased the phones used from Musician's Friend, and within a few months noticed a defect in the right driver. I called Musinian's Friend, and even thugh the used warranty was expired Musician's Friend took care of me by exchanging them at no cost. I also bought the extended warranty, something I don't usually do. But I'm glad i did, after reading from others that they too have had similar problems.

The bottom line is these phones ROCK when listening to blues, jazz, classic rock. Musician's Friend took care of me after the warranty was expired. They are now first on my list when I start looking for home audio equipment. Excellent product, outstanding customer service, what's not to like?

      Thanks to Musician's Friend.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

(I am an electronics and AV professional BTW) These are amazing headphones. Extremely comfortable, excellent acoustical isolation, very smooth response, pleasant sounding. As with most headphones, the response will change slightly with age, partly due to the ear cushions becoming a bit less springy and more compressed and very slightly as a result of mechanical wear of the plastic diaphragms over many years. I would recommend these headphones, definitely. The only possible disadvantage I see is, at 80 Ohms, the impedance is high enough that many headphone amplifiers will not have sufficient voltage swing to produce high volumes. The average media player, for example, may not deliver enough power at 80 Ohms for some listeners. Hopefully, this will not be an issue for people with young ears. :-) Enjoy!

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

They were great while they lasted, but the left earphone suddenly stopped working in the middle of a movie I was watching. I tried wiggling the wire to see if that would work but no luck.

Great sounding headphones. They sound good without masking or hiding the true content of the recording. I plan on using these as a "reference" to what I'm mixing along with DT250 -80ohm and reference speakers.

      Epic - just Epic

      By Sam Tittes

      from Denver, CO

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO-80 Closed Studio Headphones:

I have a lossless recording of Greensleeves I originally played on a Boesendorfer 290. Translation - I was there for the recording and sitting the hot seat. I can tell you that these cans with no EQ'ing sound EXACTLY like you are sitting and actually playing the piano. It is quite difficult to tell the difference. Only minus is it is a little difficult to drive these cans with a phone (80ohm model) Ipad drives them better, computer even better than that, and of course my Edirol rig drives them the best. However, at max volume on the android phone (Galaxy Note) it is probably the loudest you would want to be able to run anyway. I just like having the extra room for soft pieces.
