Turn 26 standard rudiments into mind-blowing grooves, fills, and solos.

All that rhythmic sophistication you hear great drummers do can easily be broken down into its basic elements: the rudiments. Rudiments are the drum language; a basic vocabulary of rhythms that drummers arrange and rearrange when they play grooves, solos, and fills. This book shows you how to apply them to the drum set in all styles of music. When you start combining the hands and feet, orchestrating different parts of the rudiments between the various drums and cymbals on your set, you'll start to make inspired music.

50 illustrated grooves are reinforced with the accompanying CD; hear how the rudiments sound when you apply them to the drum set. Discover how these basics become the foundation for all grooves and moves, including:
Single and Double Strokes
Stroked Rolls
Drags
Flams
Paradiddles double paradiddles, paradiddle grooves and fills
Combinations

Your choices of accents, tempos, style, and feel are what will ultimately make the rudiments into music. Learning and internalizing them will help you expand your vocabulary to play creative grooves, fills, and solos. Use Rudiment Grooves to create an infinite number of combinations, in any style, and at any tempo.

KId's,,,,, don't try this at home......................

I have a year and a half of experience and that doesn't even get me in the door. The first thing I didn't like about it was I thought it was a DVD but there is no video, just a soundtrack. In the end it didn't matter because this is pretty heavy stuff geared towards drummers with about 5 years of experience or more . Oh don't get me wrong, this is good stuff. This guy knows his stuff and has some wicked chops but I doubt that anyone who could play these examples would even need a book like this and those of us who cannot, will not really benefit from it. First off you will need to have all of your rudiments mastered to at least 160 beats per minute in order to have any chance of following along at all because almost all of the grooves he plays are done so in excess of 120 beats per minute. He doesn't start off slow and work you up to it. He just blasts right out of the starting gate with an example and it's over before you even know what hit you. As he bounces his sticks across the ambassador heads tuned for jazz, at a blazing pace your head spins as you try to pick apart the the individual sticking but his drums all ring together so fully it's almost impossible to break it apart. The main thing I got out of this was that I am not a real drummer and never will be. I looked at my kit and realized sadly that I am not worthy. This book should say in large lettering on the cover that it is not for beginners.
