Comments about Bellafina Prelude Series Violin Outfit:

I think this thing could actually sound alright if I knew how to play it. You will have to push in the tuning pegs tight so the violin will stay in tune. I didn't know that when I first got it but read up on the internet and learnd that's how some violins work. For a case and violin it's the right price for someone wanting to try out violin. A perfect chose for your child who try's out a new hobby, get frustrated and gives up within the first week. And it won't take up to much space in the closet too when put it away with all the other instruments that you gave up on.

Excellent Value Instrument

Cons

  • Harsh Tone

Comments about Bellafina Prelude Series Violin Outfit:

This was the only solid spruce top violin I could find anywhere at this price point. All the others use plywood, which sounds awful. This violin looks beautiful, everything works perfectly. The tone is a little pinched, but the flimsy bow is part of the problem. When I tried a different bow, the tone improved somewhat. Comes with a tiny starter rosin and a lightweight, but nice case. Excellent for beginner

Fits My Hofner Beatle Bass Perfectly

By Bill B.

Comments about Bellafina Prelude Series Violin Outfit:

Case fits my Hofner Beatle Bass perfectly -- just had to do the mod everyone recommended in the other reviews. Super easy: find the foam piece that holds up the neck, unscrew it (screws are in styrofoam, be careful not to strip it), cut foam piece down with knife/scissors/hacksaw, and screw it back in. Done.

Comments about Bellafina Prelude Series Violin Outfit:

Daughter was begging for a violin for Christmas. Bought this one online and have been amazed how quickly she has taught herself to play. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound she is getting having never had lessons. Love the case it came in that makes it safe to take places without fear of getting damaged.

Comments about Bellafina Prelude Series Violin Outfit:

The violin was not set up correctly. I would have preferred to set it up myself. The pegs were not wound with any care as a result they had far to much slack resulting in slippage which in turn created uneven tension on the neck and bridge. The bridge was not aligned properly out of the box and the strings are not strings I would have chosen. All things considered it was fairly easy to correct the set up and replace the strings. The other issue is the tuning pegs weren't quite an exact fit to the holes. However caulking them did work. The violin is my daughters first and as such I didn't want to spend a lot of money after I corrected the problems it works as intended and has a surprisingly nice tone. The neck intonation is as expected in a low price violin but the notes can be played clearly and in key.

Comments about Bellafina Prelude Series Violin Outfit:

I bought this as a starter, to learn how to play violin. It has a loud sound when played with the bow. I really like the light weight case and the shoulder straps that came with it. I am pretty well pleased with my purchase. However a couple of the strings would not stay tuned. The pegs would not stay when adjusted. I took it to a friend that plays the fiddle and he was able to mostly fix it. My friend pushed the pegs in as he adjusted them and that seemed to help. I mention this because I read that others had the same problems. So if you have a student or are wanting to find out if violin is the instrument for you and not spend a ton of money this ones for you.
