The Bellafina Model 50 Viola Outfit offers depth and projection at a price that makes it a superb value. The Model 50 viola has an ebony fingerboard and pegs, composite tailpiece with 4 built-in fine tuners, and hand inlaid purfling—quality features usually found only on more expensive violas. The Bellafina Model 50 Viola Outfit includes a brazilwood bow and a stylish lightweight case.
Not a musician, I wouldn't know the difference from one viola to the next, but our child's instructor and 2 other instructors and another client where we go for lessons were all raving about our selection and telling us we'd be "pleasantly surprised" at the value--Superior sound quality in a student model, at a mid-range price. One word of caution: Ours arrived fitted with violin strings, and I have been told this is not uncommon. The 12 inch viola is the same instrument as the 12 inch violin, but with different strings. Guitar Center apologized and shipped me replacements in short order. If ordering, it would be wise to also order a spare set of strings for the size instrument you purchase, in order to avoid the downtime in the event that you do not get what you are expecting. Also never hurts to have on hand in case one breaks.
