this mic has a great sound, after running it thru various amps(and karaoke machines)it still sounded teriffic. the clean vocals sounded impresivly clear for a mic of its price range, & the screaming vocals sounded brutal but toned. the only problem w/ it is that it broke the 1st time i dropped it, the floor was concrete but it broke even tho the fall wasnt hi. im considering a sennheiser or shure, but probably not this one again.

      Comments about Behringer XM8500 Microphone:

I replaced my Peavey PVI100's for the Behringer XM8500 microphones. These mics sound so smooth and clean it beats other microphones at this price range. If your thinking about buying the sure SM58's, the Behringer XM8500 is just as good.

Just the right amount of high frequency emphasis for good vocal clarity. Also, just the right amount of proximity effect. Heavy, feels solid in your hand. It makes our singers sound good, so they like them!

            Comments about Behringer XM8500 Microphone:

I honestly can't believe how good this microphone is for the price! Its sound is outstanding! I've used it already a couple of times in rehearsals for a possible band a friend and I are thinking about starting. My friend has a nice home studio and mostly uses Shure SM58's and one higher end AKG. The first time I used this Behringer mic - my friend was blown away! Not only did it sound clearer than his Shure's and the AKG, but it had a decent amount higher output at the same gain level. Its frequency range was excellent as well. It was as clear and natural as can be with the highest highs and the lowest lows with no muddiness or breakup of any kind. It's also well made and durable and I can't more highly recommend it for anyone that's doing live performances or any kind of pro recording. .

                Comments about Behringer XM8500 Microphone:

If you searched the entire music gear industry for a better bargain than the XM 8500, you would be hard pressed to find one. I've had this mic for about three years. I've used it live and in the studio, and it's never ceased to amaze me. I recently compared it to the $250.00 Telefunken M80. It's hard to tell the difference in sound quality. The M80 is a little more crisp with less proximity effect, but there is definitely NOT a $230 difference in overall sound quality. If you're on a very tight budget, and need a good quality dynamic vocal mic, look no further that the Behringer XM8500. You won't be disappointed.
