Overview

The Behringer X1222USB mixing console takes the 1222FX up a notch, providing all the same great features, plus Behringer's 24-bit, dual-engine FX processor, with 16 editable, studio-grade presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. It can be used in either 4-mono XLR/4-stereo 1/4", or 6-mono/2-stereo operation. User-definable parameters include reverb time and brilliance, delay room size and repetitions, modulation depth and speed, and much more. The audio mixer's time-based functions can be addressed via a handy Tap button. The most recent parameter settings are always stored in memory. The Behringer USB mixer also features 4 studio-grade compressors with super-easy one-knob functionality and a control LED, so you can take your vocals and instruments to a professional level.

The Behringer XENYX USB mixer is designed to handle your live gigs, and it provides the state-of-the-art tools you need to make stunning, professional-quality recordings. Along with a built-in USB/audio interface, the Behringer XENYX USB mixer comes with all the recording and editing software you'll need to turn your computer system into a complete, high-performance home recording studio.

Sonically Superior Mic Preamps
All Behringer XENYX mixing consoles have one thing in common-great-sounding, high headroom XENYX mic preamps. These state-of-the-art mic preamps represent a major step in the evolution of audio technology-and they can easily hold their own, even when compared to the most expensive stand-alone mic preamps. Behringer XENYX preamps offer a staggering 130dB of dynamic range, with a bandwidth that extends from below 10Hz to well above 200kHz. Armed with these outstanding mic preamps, Behringer XENYX USB mixers provide such transparent, crystal-clear performance you just might think someone upgraded your mics while you weren't looking.

Sublimely Musical British EQ
The British mixing consoles of the 1960s and '70s changed the sound of rock and roll-without them the British Invasion might not have happened. Those legendary mixing desks soon became the envy of engineers and producers all over the world. The channel EQ on the Behringer XENYX mixer is based on that very same circuitry, allowing you to imbue signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. Even when applied generously, these equalizers exhibit sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality.

One-Knob Compression
Ask professional sound engineers what their favorite piece of external processing gear is and the majority response will be virtually unanimous-dynamic compression. What is compression? Compression essentially limits the dynamic range of a signal, lowering the level of loud sounds and turning up softer sounds, to achieve sonic balance. But applying compression is a delicate art that many novice, and even intermediate, sound techs have great difficulty mastering. Behringer's "one-knob" compression is available on all mono channels and is easy to operate, even for entry-level users. With this one knob, you can easily dial in the perfect amount of compression for instruments and vocals, creating powerful mixes with punch and clarity. This is indeed a rare feature for affordable USB mixers in this class-but standard on all Behringer XENYX USB mixers.

Effective FX
The Behringer X1222USB USB mixer features 24-bit dual engine FX processor, with 16 editable, studio-grade presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. Complete with a highly accurate input meter, these effects can be altered to your personal taste via the Parameter control. Time-based functions can be entered manually by pressing the Tap button in tempo with the music.

Recording Bliss
There was a time when the recording process called for lots and lots of expensive gear, which meant the average musician had to buy time at a recording studio-and that time was pretty pricey. Modern technology has put personal recording well within the reach of virtually anyone with access to a computer. How do you get all that music flying around your brain into your computer? That's where the Behringer XENYX USB mixer comes in. Thanks to the built-in, bi-directional stereo USB audio interface, you can connect any of these mixers directly to your PC or Mac computer via a single USB cable. Now any signal source you connect to the mixing console can be recorded directly to your hard drive. Which brings us to music software…

Free Would Be Nice!
Because you'll want to take full advantage of the Behringer XENYX X1222USB USB mixer's recording and podcasting potential, Behringer's thrown in a massive software package that includes Audacity (the most popular open source audio editor), Podifier, Juice, Podnova and Golden Ear (a great selection of podcasting software). You're ready to go live on your PC or Mac computer right out of the box! You also get more than 100 virtual instruments and 50 FX plug-ins, turning your computer into a complete home-based or mobile recording studio from input to output.

energyXT2.5 Compact Behringer Edition Included
When you're ready to take your recording projects to the next level, XT Software's energyXT is just the trick. This DAW (digital audio workstation) makes it easy to manipulate your audio and MIDI files, turning song ideas into stunning CD or Web-ready recordings. energyXT includes its own multi-FX processor, plus a built-in synthesizer/sampler and a drum machine, both of which can be accessed directly via an external controller (such as Behringer's UMA25S) or programmed in step-write mode.

I own a lot of high dollar gear and this is my first Behringer piece. I needed a mixer for my vintage synth sound module rack and I gave this one a try. I've been very pleased and I've been using it for quite some time. It's quiet and the effects are surprisingly good. BUT HERE"S THE REAL DEAL! I just bought a brand new high dollar PC laptop with W7 64 bit and everything came to screeching halt. (No it wasn't a mac. Sorry.) Anyhow, I'm experiencing what everyone else is with this new OS. Most or all of your gear, even with their so called W7 driver, doesn't work without issues. So I though, Hey! That new mixer has a USB Port so I plugged it in to see what would happen. W7 found it and installed a CODEX Driver. I downloaded ASIO4ALL to use instead an it works like a charm. No dropouts, pops, clicks, or noise! AMAZING! I tried it with Reason 4, Cubase 5, FL Studio 9, and Live 8 and it all works. Granted you can only record in two channel stereo, but if you hit the solo button you can isolate a track or you can adjust all of your channel levels and record the entire band at one time. This gem works as a great recording audio interface. I love this mixer and I'm going to buy another one just to prove it.

This little mixer is great for and does almost everything needed for live applications! It has nice features and does everything a mixer should. but when I used this to record I found there was too much noise for me. Each time you add effects, turn on the parametric EQ, and even change the 3-band EQ it adds more and more noise to your recordings. When I recorded, i had to turn off or mute everything I could to try and get the noise down. I also found that in recordings it lacks a full sound and sounds almost far away in a sense. It also doesn't have MIDI inputs. Its built pretty well and the sliders knobs and connections are pretty solid. Another slight set back is that there isnt 1/4" main outputs. The phantom power also seams a little weak to me. Its a great small mixer for live applications but if you want quiet full recordings I wouldn't recommend this product.

Comments about Behringer XENYX X1222USB USB Mixer with Effects:

I will start off that I have not used this mixers USB function. I am a performer....acoustic duo and classic rock band. I use this mixer for live performances and could not be happier. I use 2 QSC K12 speakers and the sound this mixer produces is crystal clear and powerful with plenty of headroom.

Simple to setup as well. I use the first 4 channels for vocals and/or acoustic guitar because it has a one knob simple compressor. It really evens things out and not complicated (hey -it's one knob). There are 8 XLR inputs which is great - also 1/4" for all 8

Stereo digital effects with panning and a button that sounds to my ears like an old FM radio multi plex (makes the sound very full and wide). EQ operates on both main and monitor with a switch to toggle between the 2. There are mute switches for each channel for breaks and speeches (I wish the mute also muted the monitors but hey it does not). I mic drums (kick, snare, toms), guitar cabs anything really and the sound is reproduced very well.

This is a very cost efficient alternative to the Mackie mixers which are great but expensive. I highly recommend this mixer for small clubs, duos and most bar band situations.

Comments about Behringer XENYX X1222USB USB Mixer with Effects:

I bought this to use as a backup (to a Behringer XR18) on gigs. It works, and it's inexpensive. But it feels cheap, and not made to last (but what do you expect for less than $200?) The effects sound pretty poor to me. As a backup mixer, it's fine, but I would not depend on this mixer for regular band gigs.

Comments about Behringer XENYX X1222USB USB Mixer with Effects:

First off let me say that I presently own four mixers, a Soundcraft, a Mackie and two Behringer mixers. I have had the Mackie the longest (about 10 years) and while it has been a reliable board it has had minor issues over the years and has needed to be repaired twice. My backup to the Mackie was a Behringer board and it never needed repair or had problems but then it also had less bells and whistles than the Mackie. I just decided that it was time to replace the Mackie. I looked at newer Mackie boards and I was about to purchase the Mackie Pro FX12 when I saw the Behringer Xenyx X1222. It's pretty obvious that the Behringer is a clone of the Mackie but usually the Behringer product would have a few less frills. In this case the Behringer had more extra stuff and cost less than the Mackie. Since I've had a good experience with a number of Behringer products I bought the X1222 and so far, I'm glad I did.
As soon as I plugged the board into my active speakers (two pair of Mackie active speakers) I was pleasantly surprised at how clear and transparent the sound was. It was a lot cleaner and open sounding than my Mackie and that was with everything "flat " on the EQ (both the channel EQ and main EQ). The reverbs are quite nice and you can adjust and save the settings. I don't use the delay much for live work but they seem very good and the number 15 effects setting is a reverb/delay combo that I am experimenting with. There are individual compressors on the first three mic channels and as long as you don't turn them on very high, they seem to work well. My band has done four gigs with this board so far and we are all pretty happy with it.
            The pros:
            1. Clear sound and solid feel to the physical layout.
            2. Nice adjustable internal effects.
            3. A separate effect sends to both main and monitors.
            4. Auto feedback locator (haven't used it yest).

            The cons:
            1. Only one monitor output (need to daisy chain monitors).
            2. Terrible manual that leaves out a lot of explanations.
            3. Effects need pre and post switch.

This is my second XENYX X1222USB USB Mixer with Effects. The first one lasted just past the warranty and Behringer would not accept it. The board got hot, and the sound crackled and just left.
I purchased a second unit, Dj/Karaoke, because I liked how the board felt and reacted. Perfect for the price. EXCEPT this time, I purchased the extended warranty. "IF" I need it, now I have it! Thanks Behringer for making a good product, now stand behind it.
