Overview

The Behringer X2442USB mixing console takes the 2442FX up a notch, providing all the same great features, plus Behringer's 24-bit, dual engine FX processor, with 16 editable, studio-grade presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. User-definable parameters include reverb time and brilliance, delay room size and repetitions, modulation depth and speed, and much more. The audio mixer's time-based functions can be addressed via a handy Tap button. The most recent parameter settings are always stored in memory. The USB mixer also features 8 studio-grade compressors with super-easy one-knob functionality and a control LED, so you can take your vocals and instruments to a professional level.

The Behringer XENYX USB mixer is designed to handle your live gigs, and it provides the state-of-the-art tools you need to make stunning, professional-quality recordings. Along with a built-in USB/audio interface, the XENYX USB mixer comes with all the recording and editing software you'll need to turn your computer system into a complete, high-performance home recording studio.

Sonically Superior Mic Preamps
All Behringer XENYX mixing consoles have one thing in common-great-sounding, high headroom XENYX mic preamps. These state-of-the-art mic pres represent a major step in the evolution of audio technology-and they can easily hold their own, even when compared to the most expensive standalone mic preamps. XENYX preamps offer a staggering 130dB of dynamic range, with a bandwidth that extends from below 10Hz to well above 200kHz. Armed with these outstanding mic preamps, Behringer XENYX USB mixers provide such transparent, crystal-clear performance you just might think someone upgraded your mics while you weren't looking.

Sublimely Musical British EQ
The British mixing consoles of the 1960s and '70s changed the sound of rock and roll-without them the British Invasion might not have happened. Those legendary mixing desks soon became the envy of engineers and producers all over the world. The channel EQ on the Behringer XENYX USB mixer is based on that very same circuitry, allowing you to imbue signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. Even when applied generously, these equalizers exhibit sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality.

One-Knob Compression
Ask professional sound engineers what their favorite piece of external processing gear is and the majority response will be virtually unanimous-dynamic compression. What is compression? Compression essentially limits the dynamic range of a signal, lowering the level of loud sounds and turning up softer sounds, to achieve sonic balance. But applying compression is a delicate art that many novice, and even intermediate, sound techs have great difficulty mastering. Behringer's "one-knob" compression is available on all mono channels and is easy to operate, even for entry-level users. With this one knob, you can easily dial in the perfect amount of compression for instruments and vocals, creating powerful mixes with punch and clarity. This is indeed a rare feature for affordable mixers in this class-but standard on all Behringer XENYX USB mixers.

Effective FX
The Behringer X2442USB mixer features 24-bit dual engine FX processor, with 16 editable, studio-grade presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. Complete with a highly accurate input meter, these effects can be altered to your personal taste via the Parameter control. Time-based functions can be entered manually by pressing the Tap button in tempo with the music.

Recording Bliss
There was a time when the recording process called for lots and lots of expensive gear, which meant the average musician had to buy time at a recording studio-and that time was pricey indeed. But modern technology has put personal recording well within the reach of virtually anyone with access to a computer. How do you get all that music flying around your brain into your computer? That's where the Behringer XENYX USB mixer comes in. Thanks to the built-in, bi-directional stereo USB audio interface, you can connect any of these mixers directly to your PC or Mac computer via a single USB cable. Now any signal source you connect to the mixing console can be recorded directly to your hard drive. Which brings us to music software…

Free Would Be Nice!
Because you'll want to take full advantage of the Behringer XENYX X2442USB USB mixer's recording and podcasting potential, Behringer's thrown in a massive software package that includes Audacity (the most popular open source audio editor), Podifier, Juice, Podnova, and Golden Ear (a great selection of podcasting software). You're ready to go live on your PC or Mac computer right out of the box! The music software also gives you more than 100 virtual instruments and 50 FX plug-ins, turning your computer into a complete home-based or mobile recording studio from input to output.

energyXT2.5 Compact Behringer Edition Included
When you're ready to take your recording projects to the next level, XT Software's energyXT is just the trick. This DAW (digital audio workstation) makes it easy to manipulate your audio and MIDI files, turning song ideas into stunning CD or Web-ready recordings. energyXT includes its own multi-FX processor, plus a built-in synthesizer/sampler and a drum machine, both of which can be accessed directly via an external controller (such as Behringer's UMA25S) or programmed in step-write mode.

I have owned several mixers, all had there good points and bad. I have never owned a Behringer Mixer before until this one. I read alot of reviews and they are quite mixed ! Either its loved or hated and you get a lemon or a gem, even still I could not help myself from buying this, I had to have it! It looked great, its small footprint was a perfect fit for my rack, and it has 10 XLR's ! Insrets on each chanel, all the aux sends you want, direct outs of each chanel, a sweepable mid range, one knob compression ( Similar to thr Yamaha MG series, which I own the 166cx) Anyway the price and the features made it a great buy so I went ahead and grabed to use with my band for rehearsal. My verdict after putting though the paces? Not one problem, nothing, everything works perfect, in fact the yamaha mg166cx has now stayed home while we gigged with this because we liked it so much! Its not boutique mixer but this thing can hold its own! The FXs are not leixcon quality but they are more than suitable for Live use in the small to medium venues we play, All the drums are in here, three vocal mics, guitar, bass etc..No issues and I cant complain! I manage my system with the DBX Driverack PA+ And I am sure this is a huge difference in the way the board sounds etc, however it does its job nicely as a great utility mixer and small band bar type stuff, I highly recomend you put aside the bad reviews and give it a chance for yourself ! You can always return it, hopefully you get a gem and not a lemon! for my money this was a fantastic buy! As I said I have put this mixer though the paces on the road and off for 6 months now, bouncing around the back of my PU truck , cold, heat outside etc...No issues! As for the mic pre's there fine, when people complain about "noise" etc, I think they are pushing there faders and gain controls to far, unity is there for a reason, dont go beyond it, if you need more then you obviously are underpowered and should look into a new amp before blaming the board...Buy this mixer, do a good gain structure on your components and dont overdrive it and you will be fine! This is a great little Mixer, kudo's to Behringer for cramming in some un real features for such a very low price!

Owned the board for 4 months now, works great with all the features it has, the band as always got great compliments on our "sound". Unfortunatly at one practice turned the unit on and got a loud buzzing and popping sound from speakers and electrical burn smell. Now the main outs are dead and the board is useless. Sent board off to repair center and a month later still cant get a answer on when they will get the parts to repair the unit. So its great while it works but the three year warranty is nice long as you got a back up plan when it fails.

Works great until it dies

By Craig Nielsen

from Eugene, OR

I had exactly the same problem as another reviewer. After about 12 to 15 uses (over about a 2 year period), the board made a loud popping and crackling sound. The problem is in the main outputs. The subs and monitor circuits are ok, but I'm not using this board anymore. I would stay away from this board - it seems to have a fatal flaw. Unfortunately the warranty period has passed. It's too bad, this was otherwise a great mixer.

Great Mixer!

By Michael House

from PA

Bought this mixer about a year ago. Mounted it in our rack and gig with it almost every weekend. We have four vocals, two guitars, bass guitar and keyboards plus the Roland V-drums plugged in and an external effects processor into one channel for delay. I use the on board effects unit for reverb (which isn't bad for live shows) This thing works like a champ. The USB interface works perfect as well.(Record our live shows onto a PC laptop using Studio One Artist) When we needed a replacement mixer I was considering the Yamaha but the Behringer had a couple of added features the Yamaha was missing. I am very happy with this mixer and if needed to replace it I would certainly buy another. We purchased the 3 year extended warranty from Guitar Center only because of the excessive use - I'm happy to say we've never had to cash in on the warranty. Perfect little mixer for live performances. hope this helps. FB: The Corn Wallace Band

Great........Until.....

By Will Curry

from Avon, Indiana

I bought this mixer about 7 months ago and it has done everything I could have hoped it would do, Until about 2 weeks ago. The first sign of the meltdown was when my whole channel 3 input lineup stopped functioning completely. Now i can no longer take the signal from any channel out of the main mix, it bleeds terribly. The latest problem is that the LED display for my main mix is totally gone, it no longer works and I would have to say that I dont think i would even want to use my warranty to get this thing fixed.

Works Great!

By bruce edwards

from California

The is a great mixer that is worth the price. The EQ is great and the gain control is great to. I have had this mixer for about a month now and have had no problems with it. I used this mixer with garageband and I was amazed with the sound quality. The included Behringer Software Package is pretty much worthless but the mixer is still amazing.

Excellent mixer!

By Gustavo Garza

from Monterrey, Mexico.

I was looking for a new mixer for my band, and recording studio, and this is the mixer I was looking for, with a 8 channel snake I link the mixer to my fast track ultra interfase to record each channel, and using the usb from te mixer, to record when playing live with my band. It works perfect! you wont be disappointed !!!

Nice Mixer but need Recording Interface

By Jay Raker

from Portland,OR

This is a great mixer with a lot to offer for the price. But....... The only thing is that you can not record multiple tracks simultaneuosley into a DAW , you can only record in a 2 channel setup. So you would need to use the direct outs of the mixer into some sort of recording interface into your DAW( For example when you record drums) For me its a great mixer minus the recording capability.

Although not much, its still wasted money !!

By Zane Henley

from Arlington TX

20 years experience here...yada yada yada... 1 channel bad out of the box, 2 more bad within a month. Useless manual. I knew better when I bought it, but I needed something quick and I was low on funds. I have since thrown this piece of junk in the closet and bought a Mackie. I suppose it has its' good points...it has cool colored knobs and its cheap !!! But that is reflected in the quality. Save your money and buy a Yamaha or a Mackie.
