DONۡT READ ANY REVIEW EXCEPT THIS ONE, Well Iۡm just kidding, certainly you should, but I think youۡll find mine to be very interesting. Iۡve never written a marathon review like this about any product, but Behringer company deserves it. Although otherwise defined by Websterۡs Dictionary, the word ۡ̏Cheapۡݕ_ is often used to describe something of lesser quality and unfortunately Behringer products. The Behringer ACX 450 is low in price but there is nothing inferior about it. I donۡt want this review to sound like others, the usualۡ_ Iۡve been playing for x-years etc; but I guess I must. Iۡm a solo guitarist, most often play the classical guitar for the past 45 years. I play modern classical music at weddings and other romantic occasions. Iۡm also a Graduate Engineer, no I donۡt work for Behringer! Over the years as technology changed so did I. Prior to purchasing the Behringer, 14 months ago I purchased a Fender Acoustasonic SFX II, an excellent amp in every way. The SFX stereo expansion, and string dynamics features are nice. However, it has more watts than I need and weighs a ton. At the last wedding I performed at I couldnۡt find a near parking spot so I had to lug the Fender a distance and then up a flight of stairs to the banquet hall. That was the deciding factor to purchase a smaller amp. I thought about buying a smaller Fender or other high end brand, Iۡve played through many over the years and most were very good. But in the back of my mind was Behringer that I hadnۡt tried. Behringer equipment is designed in Germany, ۡ̏very impressiveۡݕ_ and manufactured in Behringer City, China. Behringer does not have their products contract built, they own a manufacturing plant thus build their products. Therefore you pay less, furthermore thanks to Uli Behringer their products are not ridiculously priced 500 percent above cost like some brands. The Behringer mission is to provide high quality equipment at an affordable price. Go to Behringer.com and read their story. Before I write more about the amp as an Engineer I want to clear up a couple of myths. (1) Anything from China that is junk is because we required them to build it that way. Chinese folks do beautiful work. (2) Iۡve read reviews stating some Behringer products are clones of other company designs. REALLY?ۡ_.. Behringer products are designed in Germany by German Engineers thereforeۡ_.whom do you think is building clones? Perhaps that is the reason Behringer does not provide electrical schematics for their products. The Behringer is built as pristine as it gets, and sounds beautiful, I like its sound better than my Fender. Paramount was that I not only purchase a great sounding amp but also reliable. At weddings I often solo for the bride and groom as they dance with an audience of usually 100-300 people. I DONۡT WANT MY AMP TO FAIL! I spoke with the nice folks at Behringer USA. They affirm that their failure rate is less than one percent, and I believe that becauseۡ_ I was curious to learn therefore I removed the amplifiers from both cabinets to compare. Because my major was electronic engineering does NOT mean Iۡm an audio amplification expert but I do have enough knowledge to judge certain fundamentals. The Fender is made in Mexico. Without schematics to refer to noticeable the Fender electronic architecture is excellent with quality components. The Behringer as I said is built in Behringer City manufacturing plant, China. Itۡs built just as commendable with better artistry, very detailed precise workmanship. SOUND: I canۡt pick out sound for you but what I look for is a silky acoustic nylon classical guitar timbre thatۡs mysteriously romantic. The only effect I use is reverb if not naturally present and sometimes compression/limiter. It doesnۡt have a limiter or compression features. Other model Behringer amps do. I have never heard reverb as nice as the Behringer. Very spaciousۡ_it simulates the sound of the Fender SFX stereo expansion. It is very beautiful. SUMMARY: Iۡm delighted in every way. Make no mistake about it, the Behringer ACX450 is an awesome very high quality stage worthy amplifier that I believe will prove to be very dependable for years. Forget about labels, low cost, and reviews that lack substance. The amp sounds great, looks great, and is built great, and itۡs weighs only a little over 29 pounds. I hope my review is helpful to you. Thanks for your time.

This amp is a steal!

By Lito Austria

from San Diego, Cali

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Oh My God! These words truly do this amp justice. Superb price for all the goodies that went with it and the most quiet amp ever! Turned it on and waited for it to hum and buzz... nothing! Plucked my Breedlove AD25/SM and out comes this nice, deep and at the same time crisp sound, accompanied with my singing to Dan Fogelberg's (God rest his soul)Leader of the band and again, OMG! It's like two amps smacked into one. The most impressive amp i've ever had and actually better than my Fender Passport 150 PA system. It's a breath of fresh air that makes me want to play my guitar over and over ever since i got it. Buy it and you won't regret it!

Much Better Than Expected

By Bruce Kelly

from Kansas City

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

After significant research into an entry level acoustic amplifier for my new Martin guitar, I decided on the ACX450. In particular I was interested in two channels, RCA aux inputs, digital sound processing, and a price tag under $200. What the ACX450 provides is all of that plus a graphic equalizer, a tremendeous sound, and a compact size, however it is surprizingly heavy. It is a much better amplifier than I expected, better even than what I would have expected from similar but lower power output products priced in the $350 to $500 range. I recently played with the amp in a large room and the sound filled the space projecting a rich bass. If I need to move up, which I doubt, I will stick with Behringer.

WOW and at this price

By Bikemike

from St Peter, MN

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I went into different stores with my guitar and tried this amp, a Marshall, Fishman solo amp, Crate Telluride and a Fender Acoustasonic. I really didn't like the sound of the Fender or Marshall. And there wasn't really any difference between this amp and the Fishman except the volume. The Crate was nice but three times the price. The This amp lets the guitar sound through without adding anything unless you want it to. I play a classical guitar allot and wanted it to sound like I was in my living room and this amp delivers.

Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier

By R. Campbell

from Winter Haven, Florida

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

This amp is just what the doctor ordered for senior citizens like myself and anyone with disabilities who can no longer carry those big heavy amps any more. It's great for small gigs because you can run both the guitar and a microphone through the same amp at the same time, eliminating the need for a seperate sound system. Whether you are playing alone or in a small band the 45 watts is plenty for a bar, or restaurant.

Behringer may be the best-kept secret in pro audio.

By Jose Martinez

from Palo Alto, CA

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I've been looking for an acoustic amp for my Taylors, and tried several brands. I had never heard of Behringer, but loved the sound, the build quality of the cabinet, and just couldn't believe the price! Something had to be wrong with all this, it didn't add up. I did a bit of research, especially the company story on behringer.com. WOW. These guys are serious, committed, and most of all, exude ethics and quality. They have their own factory (Behringer City) in China, the owner and founder moved to China for over a decade to set this up, and they don't believe in contract assembly or labor at all, they control every element of production, including growing their own trees to produce the pulp for their speaker cones. WOW. The company motto was "twice the features at half the price", and boy, do they deliver. So, I bought the ACX450, and have been literally blown away. Clear, no hiss, just gorgeous, deep sound. I get the Taylor tone, only amplified. I couldn't be happier. Every now and then a company comes around with a new design philosophy, new production techniques, and a sense of ethics and responsibility to their employees and customers. Behringer is such a company. (BTW, I have nothing to do with them, I'm simply a very-impressed engineer and amateur guitar player). Check this companies products out, you'll be in on one of the best secrets in the pro audio industry. Every review of this amp gives it 5 stars. 18 reviews. That's no accident. Thank you Mr. Behringer and your 3000 employees, you have my gratitude and admiration.

EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE

By Anthony Laws

from Junction, Texas

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I'm not a professional, just someone who loves to make music, mostly country and old gospel. I recently retired and obtained a new acoustic/electric guitar and chose this ACX450 amplifier. I do not impress very easily at all, but this was the most impressive thing I have seen or purchased in many years. Quality is excellent, sound spot on. No hiss/pop/hum. Options and extras work great and are easy to use, owners manual is easy to understand and use. I will recommend this to others I know. This is an excellent value

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Excellent on line purchase, order arrived as promissed. As a child I lost hearing in one ear and as I have gotten older I do not hear the high notes very well in my good ear. I stll love to play though and can't just quit!!This amplifier has allowed me to enhance the high notes while keeping the low notes controlled. This is all I wanted and then some- good price, excellent controls and even special effects which I can play around with, even has a foot pedal. WOW! Very happy with this product.

Great Little Amp

By Grumpybear

from Delmar, NY

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Read the reviews but was still a little leary about buying an amp without first hearing it. Guess what? The reviews were right. A great little amp for the money. I have 3 Acoustic/Electric guitars: Nylon String Classical, Steel String Acousticw/Fishman piezo Pickup, and a 12 String Acoustic/Electric. When playing through this amp they still sound like my guitars only louder. Haven't had it long enough to speak to it's reliability but so far I'm Very satisfied. I know all reviews are subjective.Hope this is of some use.

solid acoustic guitar amp

By JohnE

from Mandeville, LA

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I have a Larivee acoustic with a Fishman pickup. I don't gig. I just like to play. I had been looking for some kind of amp for a while and was thinking Fender, Line6, Roland. I saw this amp on sale for $179 on the GC website. Never heard of Behringer. There were 14 reviews. Not only were all reviews good; none had a negative word. So, I read and thought and decided to buy. I am adding another all positive review for this great amp. Solid, clean/strong sound, no hiss, nice fx - reverb, mod, delay, mod/delay - independent volume controls, instrument and mic inputs, footswitch. I lucked out with no-charge shipping and paid just under $200 with sales tax for delivery to my front door. A great buying experience for a great product.

Absolute Steal

By Chase

from Texas

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I have to say that i am in shock right now. I just got this amp in a few days ago and it amazes me. Plugging it in and turning it on produces no buzzing, humming, or any background sound! The very first strum on the guitar sealed my love for this amp. It puts out a crisp, clear, and clean sound that rivals my cousins $700 acoustic amp. Plus with all the features, pedal, and mic hook up it comes with.....this amp is an outright steal! If you're going to be playing big gigs then sure, go bigger, but if you play small shows like me (family reunions, karaoke etc.) this amp is perfect for you.

Fine sound

By Bruce McDermott

from Mystic, CT

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I have had a chance to do a couple of venues with this recently received amp. I often use a TC Helicon Harmony which only uses the XLR input. I wanted something around 20 lbs I could just grab and go with, instead of dragging 15in. PA speakers around all the time. The Behringers' sound is plenty powerful enough for even a moderate size room and in fact I used it last at an outdoors gig. It is very clean using a D-28 or electric and vocals, and I am very fussy re. good clean vocals. Bruce

Very nice sound for the price

By Enrique

from In

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I agree with all comments, pretty loud for a 45 watt, sounds nice, no noise, etc, etc. Only thing that I didn't like and I just notice after two days that I bought this amp is that it doesn't have a line out to conect it directly to a mixer. Oh well I guess I will have to use a microphone coming out of the mixer when playing live with my band. Yes buy it, but have in mind of having an extra mic coming from your mixer if you play in big venues if you want to be heard.

Great - a couple of small adds would have made it a 5

By Dan H

from Minneapolis, MN

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Behringer slips another solid piece of gear under the radar, and at WAY less cost than other name brands. WHAT I LOVE: the separately-controlled guitar (1/4") input & XLR input, each with its own gain & effects; I love the way it looks, & sounds. Like my own little self-contained PA! WHAT I WISH WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT: I wish there was a headphone jack and/or other audio outputs. I also wish the effects & volume control were on the back. You obviously don't want the amp behind you (feedback), but then it's a hassle to lean over the amp to adjust volume & effects from song to song.

Very good amp

By Paul Van Why

from Kalamazoo, Mi

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

Very nice looking and powerful on channel 1. Problem for me I need to run two instruments and channel 2 is a line, mike channel. The line 1/4 in plug lacks power. Maybe needs preamp. My solution is using a direct box to convert from high impedience to low through the mike input. Using channel 1 for lap steel guitar and #2 for guitar. Wish channel 2 had an instrument input. Otherwise very good amp.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

This is a great little amp. I got this amp as a gift and loved it. I did end up returning it because I wanted to have a line out, but thats the only problem I had with it. It had a great sound, plenty of bass, but a nice rounded out sound and will also get pretty loud. I only had it on 2 to drown out my acoustic, and its a fairly loud acoustic.

I bought this for my Alvarez hybrid nylon string guitar. I have since picked up an Epiphone ES-175. It also sounds great. The tone sounds good and it comes with a foot switch for the 16 different tone, including reverb, delay and modulation. It comes with 5 band EQ all for the very affordable price. All you will need for a small / Medium venue

      By R. G. "Gary" Gard

      from Chesapeake, Va.

Comments about Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier:

I Have played 2 gigs with this little beauty and will be doing a 3rd this Saturday. It has plenty of power, nice clarity of tone, great effects and is easy to use. I would recomend using an amp stand, (especially in a small venue), to direct the sound up a little. It will help "fill" the room without "overpowering" it. I use mine in conjunction with a vocal harmonizer, (I'm a solo act), and everything works well together. Great value. Great sound.
