Am very impressed with this amp. Although it's an entry level product, it does a very decent job. (especially for the money) You really need at least a 12" speaker to produce clean low notes at the bottom, and the Ultrabass Combo will not disappoint you. The tone controls are good (very versatile) and the hardware is pretty sturdy. Sure, it's no Ampeg, and it hums and pops a little bit, but the Chinese-made competitors are far worse. You gotta hand it to Behringer for the quality they put into their lower-cost products. Get this amp, its priceless when it comes to pracicing or small gigs.

This amp is decent if you are beginning to play bass. I bought this amp about 5 years ago when I was starting to play. At the time I thought it was great due to my lack of knowledge and not knowing what good tone sounds like. It's a good amp if you are playing by yourself with the volume relatively low but once you start playing with a band, it can't be pushed without giving you a distorted sound. I would recommend spending a little more money and getting a small ampeg combo amp. Since purchasing this amp, I've spent thousands on amps and cabs and I wish I would have gotten something good quality to start with.

Good Amp at a Great Price

By Michael Pinkston

from Brownsburg, IN

Perfect amp for small gigs. Guitarists will need 150~200w to compliment the sound. The UltraBass feature on this amp is interesting. It gives the amp almost a tubed sound. The built in EQ is decent for what it is... Gives you some advantages of adjusting your sound. The Dual Gain is also a decent feature. Pretty much any sound you want, you can tweek your way to it with all of the features. I haven't found any downside to this amp... I would recommend it to any one.

Great practice amp not for gigs.

By AARON P

from Colorado Springs, CO

Well I've been playin bass for years now and I needed a new practice amp. Picked this up at a great price and I was pretty happy. First, 90w is the total max of the amp the woofer is 70w RMS although its a really clean amp even turned to is max. With a Jazz bass its real smooth and has great tone. Now if you play funk it'll bottom out its not for you. A P bass it tends to bottom out easy on the E string. If you use a pick for a "green day" sound its really good it'll go louder with that set up. Active basses... it doesn't like at all just sounds not natural at all. Second, the quality is pretty impressive for a small combo amp thats cheap. It was very surprising the carpet corners everything was just great. But for the engineering side the Cab is just too small for a 12in speaker I think thats why the tone seems to die out. Third, and my few complaints are that there are really few features. the EQ works great but the visualizer doesn't work all that well and no FX loop, the ultra bass sounds muddy. It doesn't have much to it its really a practice amp. Over all for a teen on a budget its awesome it'll do like a talent show with unmiked drums but thats it. personally I went up to the 1800 with the 12in speaker because for a little more you get a petal fx loop and much MUCH more sound and power. (120w RMS BXL1800) it'll do small gigs where my 700w GK stack isn't needed. If you just want to practice or get into bass with out getting too deep this is the amp for you, but my advice is save some more money for its big big brother it'll make you smile more.

Great at first.

By Fullforce

from Middleboro Ma

I have had this amp for ohh I'd say a little more than a year and a half, and it has done the job. It is a very average, maybe even decent amp for band practices, and small shows (like high school talent shows and local clubs size) There are two main issues i have with this amp. 1.) The ultra bass feature, to me one of the main selling points as the name says ULTRA BASS, doesn't serve much of a purpose. It seems to add another octave or something very low that makes the actual sound of the bass weird. Some people may like, but I do not. Also, this feature does NOT work with my G&L L-2000 Tribute bass when i have the electronics set to active. It also did not work with my friends Fender P-Bass Special that is also active. It may be my amp, but since i use my Active bass more than my non active P bass, this function serves no purpose at all for me. 2.) It cannot handle active basses in general. Since i play a lot of Punk, Pop punk, Alternative rock, and on occasion Ska, i need the amp to put out a high treble esk sound. Like the stuff you hear from Blink-182, Ant-Flag, (Earlie) Green Day, and such. When i try to do this with my L-2000, it distorts the sound and makes it unrecognizable. I have had to mess with the preamp and change the settings much lower than what i would have liked in order for it to sound halfway decent, and even then, it doesn't sound right for the style i play. I will say this however, if you have a non active bass such as a Pbass or a Jbass, it will work fine, it just does not work that well with Active basses. All in all, it gets the job done for what you pay.

Exceeded my expectations

By Jim A

from Hugo CO

I was impressed even as I opened the box. Rugged, nice, cleanly finished. The controls have a high quality feel to them. I design and build electronic devices for a living so I know quality parts. But then I plugged it in. A lot of sound for what I understood to be a practice amp. And I plugged a digital audio recorder into the line in connections and played back a song. A nice feature that allows you to play along with a song. And it sounded great - not just the bass but the whole frequency range. I'm impressed - can you tell?

this is a great amp for beginers but definitly not loud enough for shows. needs a little more power and it would be a superb amp. very clear and fun distortion. recommend a pedal though

More than expected

By G.L.

from Ronan, Montana

I've only been playing a few months but it was time to upgrade my amp. I did a lot of research, asked a lot of questions and choose this amp. It's much more than I expected and I very pleased. The sound is awesome, it looks great, although the black carpet cover and my white dog may change that. I won't need another amp for a long time. Only negative is it's heavier than I hoped it would be, but my wheeled luggage cart easily carries it.

Exactly what it says - great for smaller gigs

By Kevlar Klyman

from Roselle Park

Honestly, its impressive for 90 watts. When I bought this I was a junior in high school with half a year of bass playing under my belt. It was exactly what i needed. If you're a new bassist looking for a performance-capable step up from your old amp, this is the right one. The equalizer really fine-tunes the sound, and the Ultrabass function can make you FEEL the bass even at the lower volume settings. If you do gigs in your hometown events, this will do, anything larger should require a bit more power.
