I had been out of live gigging for a while and needed a rig to play clubs with. I started looking at the traditional name bass amp brands, and the prices were way too high. I found the Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10, and a Behringer BX115A 1X15 speaker cab. and it kicked my butt! The Ultrabass effect is a plus with me, because I have been playing four strings for about 27 years and I am not going to change now. I can use a foot switch and get a five or six string sound when I need it. Yes I can say I have used better rigs, but for a club gigging situation you can't go wrong with this rig.

I had the unfortunate privledge of purchasing this contraption after being told by friends not to buy anything from Behringer as the quality was questionable. This package fit my budget, so I bought it. It lasted 15 minutes. Yes, 15 minutes at 1/4 volume. I would recommend you don't buy anything from Behringer. If you are on a budget like me, wait and save for the better quality equipment.

Not a Chance

By Why Bother?

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

It was the day after Thanksgiving and I was excited to purchase this amp and take it home. I removed it from its packaging, read the owner's manual, and set it up. I ripped out some classy blues scales for about 5 minutes before there was a loud snapping sound and amp went silent. Confused, I listened a bit closer and noticed a faint sound that was heavily distorted. It was then that the amp started to emit thick black smoke that smelt atrocious. It turns out that this amp only needs about five minutes for its cooling fan to shatter and the electrical to catch fire. This amp is not built well and cannot be counted on. Advice for a devoted musician: do not buy this amp unless you feel like entertaining your fans with cheap fireworks and nauseating fumes. If you have another amp in mind, buy that one instead.

DO NOT BUY THIS COMBO AMPLIFIER

By Ray Morgan

from Ridge, Maryland

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

This amplifier blew the left speaker within 5 minutes of use. The Master Volume was set to ~3, the Gain was set to ~2, all other knobs (bass, mid, treble...etc) were set to 0 db (straight up)...and it blew, I could not believe it. It destroyed the speaker at a VERY low volume. I am very displeased with this amp. I will be returning it PRONTO. DO NOT BUY THIS COMBO AMPLIFIER. If the speakers were capable of handling the supposed 450 watts it might be OK, unfortunately I was unable to actually use the speakers. After the left one blew I disconnected them both and used the XLR Direct Out to connect to the sound board/mixer. Behringer did not engineer this COMBO AMP correctly, very poorly designed.

Do not be mislead

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I want to make it very clear that this bass combo amp is terrible. When I picked this up from my local GC, I was told "I'll warn you. These series amps are ROUGH." Rough is not the word I would use to describe the terrible, digitally-emulated tonality I got out of this amp. Do yourself a favor and avoid Behringer bass products. They do other things very well, but not in this department. The recent recalls on these products speak the truth. I'm unsure where the praises for this amp come from, but they are certainly not accurate.

Great Amp, Not so great speakers

By Reconcile_Rocknroll

from Bakersfield CA

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

Bought this amp with the 15" extension cabnet over a year ago. It has a great tone and plenty of power for our shows. We play small to medium sized venues. (50-250 seats) The only problem was the speakers. They blew within 3 months of use. We replaced them with a pair of Eminence Delta's and have had no problems since. In fact other bands are fairly impressed with the sound and versatility of this lil beast. I highly recommend this amp, however be prepared to change out those speakers. Perhaps the folks at Behringer would consider adding Eminence speakers as an option.

MONSTER THUMPER

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I had a 180 watt bx1800 180 watt amp but when I took it over to a buddies house it was pretty much drowned out by his acoustic drums. I took it back and got this 450 watt version and HOLY JUMPIN JELLY FISH does this thing pound. At about just under half volume my buddies wife was telling me to turn it down a little because it was vibrating all the cabinet doors in the kitchen while she was cooking. The room we were in is connected to the kitchen anyway. But, point is; this is an awesome amp. Cant wait to get the 2 10s slave cabinet

I've owned this amp for about six months now and i love it, great sound & features. The only problem is the speakers are not the best (Jensen). Had one go out on me at a show we were doing. But the warranty works. they had it fixed in about one day and so far no problems since.

Behringer Combo

By FanofFenders50

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BX4210A 450W 2x10" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I bought this amp about 5-6 months ago. I went in looking at a Crate 100W but the guy there showed me this and I was very surprised at the overall value I got. I play a Fender American Jazz Bass on it and it sounds beautiful. I love the sweet bass sound. When I bought it, I slowly turned the volume up as I broke it in so I wouldn?t blow the speakers. I read reviews about people having problems with the speakers and about 3 months after I bought it, a speaker blew. But, I called Behringer and they directed me to a place where I could get it fixed. It may have taken a little longer than I wanted, but overall it was worth the wait. Now it sounds even better with new improved speakers. So to those thinking of buying this amp, it is a great amp and can certainly hold its own, but you may encounter speaker problems. Thank you.
