Overview

The Behringer US600 Ultra Shifter/Harmonist is like adding another guitar player to your band. Tremolo bars add a handsome shimmer to your guitar sound by detuning your strins and then retuning them to pitch. And the sound of two guitars playing in harmony adds a soaring, heroic touch to an ordinary lead. The US600 is built to take the place of a tremolo bar and a second guitarist. It's Real Sound Modeling (RSM) technology delivers the delicate harmonic overtones that are critical to creating realistic harmonies and transpositions.

The US600 stompbox offers 5 totally different-sounding Modes: tremolo Bar, Flutter, Detune, Harmonist and Pitch Shifter. Pitch Shift and Tremolo Bar pitch can be shifted from 0 to 2 octaves; Harmonist pitch can be tweaked to track 3rds, 4ths, 5ths, 6ths, octaves or double octaves. There's a separate 10-step Key select control as well as Delay/Speed control and Balance to dial in how much effect you want to mix with a dry signal.

Features
  • Real Sound Modeling (RSM) combines state-of-the-art DSP technology with sophisticated algorithms to emulate real acoustic environments
  • Tremolo Arm/Flutter effects to bend single notes up to +/-2 octaves or simulate the movement of the tremolo bar
  • Dedicated Mode, Pitch, HR Key, Delay time/speed and Balance controls for awesome sound shaping
  • Status LED for effect on/off and battery check
  • Runs on 9V battery or the Behringer PSU-SB DC power supply (not included)
  • First-class electronic on/off switch for highest signal integrity in bypass mode

I promised I would not buy a Behringer product again after an amp, mic pre-amp, and powered mixing board all had major problems shortly after purchasing. All of those products sounded amazing, but the reliability is not there. Well, I did purchase this pedal. It is an excellent price and it does amazing things.
The pitch shifter is most amazing. If you use only the wet signal, you can drop tune your guitar with the turn of a knob to anything and it will still sound good.
Also, the Digitech type dive bombs up and down are really good. Where else can you bend up a note...an octave...and have it sound fairly real? Also, for fun, I hooked up a microphone and did some singing. As long as you have the wet signal on the light side, it is possible to harmonize your vocals accurately. I say keep the wet signal on the light side because the second voice sounds a bit chipmunk-ish and sounds auto-tuned or pitch-corrected a bit. But if it is in the background, it works and sounds fuller (and it is not even made for that).
For this price, it obviously can't be perfect.
1. When using the an adapter, I get a hum (no other pedal I have does).
2. There is a noticeable moment of silence after switching the pedal on and off. So if you are playing a riff and then want to harmonize a run, it won't be smooth.
3. The harmonizer works, but the harmony (the wet signal) almost works like auto-tune. If you bend a note, it does't really work and if it does, it goes up in steps like auto-tune. In addition, wide vibrato will not work as well. This function is awesome for live playing, but in the studio, there would be no reason to use this pedal. It would sound bad. Better to do the harmony yourself and add your own style of vibrato, bent notes, whammy bar, and have it truly sound like two guitarists, not one guitarist with a signal tracking it.
4. I can't see this product lasting a really long time, but no big deal as the Boss equivalent is three times more.

I'm not really a fan of hair metal leads, bought it for the pitch / octave effects.
I was really pleased that it failed in such a serendipitous way. Lucky me

I've renamed it "The Garbage-izer" because it makes my signal complete garbage.

Comments about Behringer US600 Ultra Shifter/Harmonist Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've owned the Boss Harmonist Pitch Shifter. I just recieved the Behringer Harmonist pedal which costs a third of what the Boss pedal does. For the money the Behringer is the better buy. The features and sound quality is comparable. The build quality is not as good as the Boss pedal but for a third of the price it's a worthy investment.

4 stars! Would be 5 if the was a metal body. I use it with a expression pedal and fulfill my need of a Whammy Pedal.

I like this pedal overall due to its wide range of effects. Although it sounds a little digital, you can use distortion and it will still sound good. You can even use your bass with its octave setting and distortion to get a royal blood sound. Very cool

Comments about Behringer US600 Ultra Shifter/Harmonist Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great value for the money. This pedal does the job just as good as more expensive pedal counterparts. Not to be compared to an eventide or other of the sort. Sound is fairly quiet despite the slight gain I've noticed. Very important to position in the effects loop not the front end to get the true effect. Had problems tracking the signal at times, but may be a power issue with the battery. It would be great to add a exp pedal to see how much one can control the whammy effect, but the delay function does fine for now. It will take a bit to fully learn and master... but I'm pleased so far.

Awesome pedal. Best suited for practice and playing with your buddies. Tune a guitar to play live. I bought this for the droptune feature only. This pedal has latency issues, but super great for bedroom jamming....basement jamming....pretty sure this will break with heavy use especially if you now play songs in multiple tunings.

I got it for the harmonist feature, but it sounds auto-tune ish, which isn't bad, if you want that, I don't. but the detune makes people weep from the beauty of turning 6 strings into 12. Pitch shift alters pitch without sacrificing sound quality. Very much worth the money.
