I bought this amp about 4 months ago, mainly because of the price. Initially I got it so I would have something to play through until I got a good amp, but after playing through it for the last 4 months I have decided to get another one just like it! It's loud, it has monster punch and low end, and enough tone controls to get just about any sound you want. The only gripe I have with the amp is that it can be a little noisy, especially if you like high end in your sound. I Get a noise gate, and make sure you have decent cables. Overall I would recommend this amp to anyone who wants a really good sounding, rugged amp that has to stick to a budget.

I done a lot reseach and reviews on this product and read alot of great reviews. I bought this head with high hopes and it lived up the ablity to pump out the sound and at tremendous volumes. However, no one mentions that the sound quality and features do no live up to expectations. The Preamp meter barely moves even when active preamps are plugged into the passive input. The Ultrabass is cheap and cuts in and out, the shape, gain and output controls are either on or off nothing in between. Just to make sure I also plug into the Direct Input and ran it through my PA and got the same results. Astetics, Price and Power are great but for tone, clearity and reliablity spend the money and get something else.

Excellent Budget Bass Head

By Kabuko

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

The BX4500H is probably one of the cheapest bass heads you'll find on the market, but don't let the price fool you. It's got a reasonable amount of power (though it doesn't really feel like the 450W that it claims), and a few extra features that you might not expect on a budget head. My setup is the BX4500H powering an Avatar B212 Neo. I've used several basses with this including a Yamaha (I think an RBX), a MIM, MIJ, MIA P-Basses, US Masters EP-5, and it sounds good. It hits the low B on the EP-5 reasonably well, punchy and not too boomy all the way down. The builtin DI/XLR out is convenient (I need to be going through the subwoofer too of course!). Ultrabass is soso, more gimicky than actually useful. It doesn't track well on low notes, certainly not on many notes on the B string, but could be used in select situations. The shape is also not amazingly useful, but again in certain situations could come in handy. Bright and deep are more useful, but on my EP-5 I don't really use either too often. Overall a great deal for a good bass head.

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I try several of the best brands and spend a lot of money the past 6 years including SWR, Ampeg, Gallien Krueger, Hartke and Peavey. When I went to Florida and visit a Guitar Center and I saw this head I never spect to much. Any way I tryed and Uffff!!! This is and exellent head and too powerful. Cheap price and have all that you need. Believe me! Try it!! Don't waste your money looking for something just because is a brand name. Behringer made good amps.

Awesome Features, not so Awesome Sound.

By Funky L

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

This Behringer BX4500H Ultrabass Bass Head has many features including the "altrabass sub-harmonics processor, and a revolutionary Shape filter for midband frequency control". Both of which, you'll likely never use because they sound really bad. Also, this amp is really noisy (the Fan is loud and if your to close to it, it will start "humming"). Finaly, it has WAY to much gain. I always have the Gain turned to zero and I still get some distortion on my bass, so I have to turn the volume down on my bass (which is a Rogue LX400 Pro 4-String Electric Bass). But if those negitive factors didn't exist with this amp, I would have given it a 5 across the board. Thank you.

Amp Expierience

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

To be honest about the amp..its not bad for the money u pay for it. but yes mine has sort of a ground buzzing noise at a loud volume..it can get annoying after a while....but i love the deepness it has to it...make sure u have a tough cabinet to hold ..cause i actually used a peavey 4/10 cabinet and my speakers blew...tweeter stood fine..but speakers burned...i dont know why but it burned..but my personal problem is the weight..kinda heavy if u walking a lot...

Good for the price...

By GKbassist911

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I bought this head and two GK cabs and now i sort of wish that i would have spent the extra money bought a GK head too because there is a lot of extra noise that comes with it and it gets very fuzzy when i play. my cabs do help recover because they are nice but if you had bad ones it probably would not sound good at all. What i did was spend money on the cans and went cheap on the head but it is usable.

Behringer BX4500H Ultrabass Bass Head

By Steve

from Woodburn, OR

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I bought the BX4500H to replace an ailing Ampeg bass amp. I run it through a Carvin 4x10 speaker cabinet. Wow, the difference was incredible. I play in an all acoustic band and it was nice to be able to have the presence and tone while not over powering the rest of the band, but if needed there was plenty of power. I have never cranked my Behringer to full volume, there was just too much power. The construction is as solid as the sound, but be warned this amp has some heft to it. I have never had a problem with this amp, it has been 100% reliable which is nice because the guy I work with worries about every detail of a gig. Excellent value for the money in my book.

Good Back Up Bass Head

By Kevin M

from Dbn Hgts, MI

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I had this Behringer BX450H head for about four months, good sounds and nice value. Then it all of a sudden died on me during rehearsals. The one year warranty covered the replacement, but doesn't help when you're playing gigs! I would recommend this bass head for a back-up rather than your main bass head.

GREAT VALUE, GREAT SOUND

By Jeff

from Belleville, MI

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I run this head into a Behringer 2x10" aluminium cone ultrabass horn loaded cabinet (BA210)and a Behrignger 1X15" aluminum cone ultrabass(BA115)cab also horn loaded and all connected with Speakon cables. Great tone. Real punchy and tight sounding. Great volume too for medium sized venues. I have received many compliments on my tone as this cab setup has followed me around to different stages for 4 years now without any problems whatsoever.

Great if it's all you can afford

By Natrik

from Eugene, OR

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I bought this head because it was all I could afford at the time. At a little over 200 bucks, it was less expensive than used heads I could find locally. It has a lot of power, but there is a LOT of extra noise when you pump up the high end of the EQ. The shape filter sounds great, but the ultrabass is worthless. The fan makes a lot of noise as well that is picked up into the speaker. Still not that bad for the price.

Ehh :/

By Ian Boelts

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

Well, I bought this amp and I have had it for a little over a year. Today, I turned it on, and it had this horrible feedback! I have been carrying it around for this year and then it just, BAM, dead. I am also not so sure how good the EQ on it is either. It just is a lot of power not so much quality, or sound. I just don't think that this is at all worth it. If I were to buy again, i would go for something else no matter the cost. :/ sorry to burst your bubble, i know what this might feel like if i were about to buy this.

More Bass for your buck!!!

By Moe Holmes

from St.Louis, Mo.

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I unfortunately had my bass amp stolen after a show and was in need for a reliable fair priced bass amp. Behringer was all I needed to in a bass amp and Guitar Center was very helpful in providing me with the service and I got the amp in 2 days and didn't miss any gigs! Thanks to Guitar Center and Behringer for your product and services.

Affordable Tone

By Klub

from Edmonds, WA

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I bought a BX4500H 5 or 6 years ago pushing a BB210 & BB115. Great amp for little money. Loved it so much I bought 2 more along with a BB810 and BB410 cabs. One for home, one for practice, one for the road. Nothing I've found works nearly as well, even for 3 times the price. The house we practice at was just repainted. Painter said most of the nails in the siding were loose and had to be hammered back in. I bet if I ran all 3 together the neighbors siding would be loose too.

Great Sound Not Good Quality

By Tony Schmidt

from Columbia City Indiana

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

I bought this head a few years ago after trying the head out in the store. I loved the wide range of tones that I was able to get out of the head and I loved the Ultrabass effect and the fact that it came with a foot switch. I was using this head with the Behringer Ultrabass BA115 cab with I still have. The problem I ran into was shortly after 1 year of owning the head it one day just stopped working, it would not turn on at all. I used the recommended speakon cables, run through a rack mount power conditioner and came no where near stressing the head. I've been playing bass for 14 years and this is the first and only head I have ever had blow

AWESOME Bass Head

By Impalafarmer

from Worcester, MA

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

My brother runs this head thru a Kustom 4X10 Deep End cab. I borrowed it from him to try out for the bass position in a band and I am BLOWN AWAY by the massive power & tone of this amp. The Shape filter does more than control the midrange, it seems to "model" tone! I play an Epiphone EB-0 with Ernie Ball Super Slinkys and with this rig I can dial in anything from Fender to almost Rickenbacker tones. The Ultrabass control does exactly what it says, it creates such subsonic power it'll just about shake up what you had for lunch! Now that I see the price for one NEW I'll be saving up for this one.

Another ace in Behringer's sleeve

By Nick Ewing

from El Cajon, CA

Comments about Behringer ULTRABASS BX4500H Bass Amp Head:

Despite the negativity my friends had towards Behringer products, I went against the grain and bought a V-ampire guitar amp about 8 years ago and have had zero issues. So when I switched to bass, I picked up the ultrabass 180w head and loved it, just needed more power and the ability to run more than one cab. It was a no brainer to get this 450w head. The guys in the band thought it was tubed, sounds amazing, pushes both of my trace elliot 4x10 cabs with ease. I would recommend it to anyone. Lot's of adjustment to dial in your sound. Buy it and you won't be sorry.
