Overview

The BEHRINGER POWERPLAY P16 system is the easy, affordable way to give your musicians and vocalists what they really want-"more me!" P16-M Personal Mixers lets each performer take control of what they hear, allowing the engineer to concentrate on providing the audience with the best possible listening experience. Fast and easy to set up, a basic system can be installed and configured in a matter of minutes-and the system can be expanded to adapt to changing needs.

Tech-Free Zone
The P16-M's simple user interface makes it easy for even non-techies to dial-in the perfect monitor mix. For example, let's say the electric guitar is too loud in the lead vocalist's mix; they simply press the appropriate channel button (the one labeled E. GTR) and turn the Volume control to lower the guitar level in their mix. They can also adjust Pan (left to right mix), EQ (Bass, Mid with sweepable Freq control and Treble), and much more. All of these adjustments can be made without affecting anyone else's personal mix.

Easy Installation
A basic installation consists of one P16-I Input Module, which connects to the main mixing console, and up to six P16-M Personal Mixers, creating a system big enough to equip a typical recording studio, a small to medium-sized band, or a worship team. You'll also need a few standard audio and CAT5 cables. The optional P16- MB mounting bracket allows the P16-M Digital Personal Mixer to be attached to any standard microphone, music or drum stand. The system can easily be expanded via the P16-D Digital ULTRANET Distributor, six of which can be combined to drive up to forty-eight P16-M Personal Mixers.

Extraordinary Value
The POWERPLAY P16 puts total control of the monitor system where it belongs-in the hands of the performers, freeing up the engineer to sculpt the perfect front-of-house mix. The POWERPLAY P16 system is the easy, affordable way to tame runaway stage volume and give your musicians and vocalists what they really want-"more me!"

I work at a small church with a small budget. In order to combat the ever-present villain of stage noise, I needed an in-ear monitor system that wouldn't break the bank (you know what I'm talking about). I was hesitant to try these, but I've had good experience with Behringer products so I took an affordable risk. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality and solid construction of each unit (this P16-M, the P16-D, and the P16-I). We now use these across our entire band, saving tons of rehearsal time (no "tell the sound guy to give me more X in my monitor) and improving the quality of our room's sound (no uncontrollable stage noise).

PROS
Affordable!
Quality Construction
Easily Expandable (buy more P16-D and just daisy-chain)
Sounds Great
More Features Than Competition

CONS
High Noise Floor*
"Muddy" Out-Of-Box Sound**
Non-Intuitive Controls***

*The noise floor seems pretty high, but I'm not sure if that's my setup (our analog mixer is aurally pretty "dirty") or something present in this system. This is easily fixed with proper gain structure, though.

**Out of the box, the sound seemed a bit "muddy" but again, this is also easily fixed with the built-in channel-specific EQ (which the competition doesn't have!). Also, this could actually be because of our current setup - I'm using the INSERT on each channel as the send to the ADC (P16-I, this unit), which is unprocessed signal direct from the stage.

***All of the proper information is in the manuals, but remembering it all is a struggle because it's not completely intuitive. For example, there is both a "Master" volume (top right of the P16-M) AND a "main" volume button to be controlled like another channel. Why have two master volume controls like this?It will probably take more than one class to teach your team how to use the IEM effectively.

Yes I would absolutely recommend these to a friend. Try these first before you try any other IEM.

Astounding

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-M 16-Channel Digital Personal Mixer:

Pros: Unbelievable Price 16 Channels of personal mixing in a tiny package Power carried over Cat-5e Recallable settings Per channel AND master tone controls Plenty of gain and headroom Sounds great for performing Cons: Higher noise floor than I would like Only one headphone output per unit Cramped labeling space Honestly, the cons are pretty nit-picky, because at this price and size, with this level of expandability and flexibility, I really have no complaints.

Thumbs up to Behringer!

By Greg Guillot

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-M 16-Channel Digital Personal Mixer:

Just got 2 of these a couple of days ago through a distributor in Minneapolis, MN. They sound great! No complaints at all! I've used the "blue brand" before (starts with an A) and this stacks up very well comparatively! For the price tag... what do you have to lose? Great overall sound with plenty of options (EQ, Grouping, Muting, Panning, Limiter, Etc.) We got the X32 board a couple of weeks ago, so the P16-m pairs perfectly with it. We also got a couple of the P16-MB to go along with these so we can mount them to mic stands. Overall, I'd say the P16-m is built really nice. Very sturdy construction and the knobs seem very secure. Now we're just waiting on the S16 stage boxes to be released and our new setup will be complete.

AWESOME

By STEVE OLRIDGE

from Arlington, TX

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-M 16-Channel Digital Personal Mixer:

Picked up a couple of these (along with the P16-i) and VERY impressed. Sound quality, individual channel control, bass, mid and treble controls, LIMITER (great) and master volume make this unit unbeatable for the price. Factor in that the unit can be powered by the P16-I (but will not daisy-chain the power, but will daisy-chain the audio) via cat5, and it's a no-brainer. Only issue I had is that the 2 units I had shipped/received from GC arrived with EUROPEAN wal-wart power adapters. I returned them to my local store and they re-ordered. SECOND set shipped ALSO had EUROPEAN wal-wart power adapters! Local GC provided working power supplies.

Serious bang for the buck personal mixer

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-M 16-Channel Digital Personal Mixer:

Honesty, just serious bang for the buck. Improved my session workflow. It's just dead simple to set up. I send up to 16 channels of ADAT out of my Antelope Zen Studio to four of these in my studio via the P16-I. No discernible latency. Not super high end by any means, but still very good sounding. Intuitive controls for most users. Puts all the musicians at ease and makes it much easier to create music.

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-M 16-Channel Digital Personal Mixer:

I received my Behringer P16M and P16i earlier this evening. Setup was incredibly easy. I was up and running through the personal mixer in a matter of minutes. The initial setup was from an Apogee Ensemble using the sends to the P16i. I sent a mix of bass drum, snare, hi-hat and guitar to 4 individual sends from my Apogee to the P16i then to the P16M via the included Cat-5 cable. The P16M was mounted on my Pearl Rack system so it was very easy to reach. I set the levels for each channel, tested the limiter and EQ successfully. The system was setup without reviewing the instructions at all. It was that simple. I will use it in a live setting soon. I would expect the same results.

very easy to use and so far... no issues at all.
Our Rep from the Guitar Center (Paul) was knowledgeable, patient and very helpful.

I ordered this unit for our drummer at our church. This unit sound great! Using it is fairly simple, does take a couple minutes to get a good mix. You have to navigate and play with it for a bit before deciding to use it live but this unit is excellent. Crisp and accurate sound.
