Overview

The BEHRINGER POWERPLAY P16 system is the easy, affordable way to give your musicians and vocalists what they really want-"more me!" P16-M Personal Mixers lets each performer take control of what they hear, allowing the engineer to concentrate on providing the audience with the best possible listening experience. Fast and easy to set up, a basic system can be installed and configured in a matter of minutes-and the system can be expanded to adapt to changing needs.

Tech-Free Zone
The P16-M's simple user interface makes it easy for even non-techies to dial-in the perfect monitor mix. For example, let's say the electric guitar is too loud in the lead vocalist's mix; they simply press the appropriate channel button (the one labeled E. GTR) and turn the Volume control to lower the guitar level in their mix. They can also adjust Pan (left to right mix), EQ (Bass, Mid with sweepable Freq control and Treble), and much more. All of these adjustments can be made without affecting anyone else's personal mix.

Easy Installation
A basic installation consists of one P16-I Input Module, which connects to the main mixing console, and up to six P16-M Personal Mixers, creating a system big enough to equip a typical recording studio, a small to medium-sized band, or a worship team. You'll also need a few standard audio and CAT5 cables. The optional P16- MB mounting bracket allows the P16-M Digital Personal Mixer to be attached to any standard microphone, music or drum stand. The system can easily be expanded via the P16-D Digital ULTRANET Distributor, six of which can be combined to drive up to forty-eight P16-M Personal Mixers.

Extraordinary Value
The POWERPLAY P16 puts total control of the monitor system where it belongs-in the hands of the performers, freeing up the engineer to sculpt the perfect front-of-house mix. The POWERPLAY P16 system is the easy, affordable way to tame runaway stage volume and give your musicians and vocalists what they really want-"more me!"

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-I 16-Channel 19'' Input Module with Analog and ADAT Optical Inputs:

Pros No learning curve Easy to set up Extremely affordable (defines entry-level personal mixing) Sounds great for performing Cons Cat-5 connectors on front of unit I wish the analog connections came in on D-Subs so there would be room to put the Cat-5 connectors on the rear of the unit. That alone would make this a 5-star piece for me.

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY P16-I 16-Channel 19'' Input Module with Analog and ADAT Optical Inputs:

I work at a small church with a small budget. In order to combat the ever-present villain of stage noise, I needed an in-ear monitor system that wouldn't break the bank (you know what I'm talking about). I was hesitant to try these, but I've had good experience with Behringer products so I took an affordable risk. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality and solid construction of each unit (this P16-I, the P16-D, and the P16-M). We now use these across our entire band, saving tons of rehearsal time (no "tell the sound guy to give me more X in my monitor) and improving the quality of our room's sound (no uncontrollable stage noise).

PROS
Affordable!
Quality Construction
Easily Expandable (buy more P16-D and just daisy-chain)
Sounds Great
More Features Than Competition

CONS
High Noise Floor*
"Muddy" Out-Of-Box Sound**
Non-Intuitive Controls*** (This is regarding the personal mixers, P16-M)

*The noise floor seems pretty high, but I'm not sure if that's my setup (our analog mixer is aurally pretty "dirty") or something present in this system. This is easily fixed with proper gain structure, though.

**Out of the box, the sound seemed a bit "muddy" but again, this is also easily fixed with the built-in channel-specific EQ (which the competition doesn't have!). Also, this could actually be because of our current setup - I'm using the INSERT on each channel as the send to the ADC (P16-I, this unit), which is unprocessed signal direct from the stage.

***All of the proper information is in the manuals, but remembering it all is a struggle because it's not completely intuitive. For example, there is both a "Master" volume (top right of the P16-M) AND a "main" volume button to be controlled like another channel. Why have two master volume controls like this? It will probably take more than one class to teach your team how to use the IEM effectively.

Yes I would absolutely recommend these to a friend. Try these first before you try any other IEM.
