Perfect for my needs

By james werchan

from Dallas, TX

I use 3 of these for channel inserts in a live touring rack where everything stays dialed in and connected with minimal, if any, tweaking. It really enhances vocals well by bringing quiet nuance in the vocals up in the mix. Works well at evening out drums levels and the gate works well too. The compression hasn't distorted the signal yet or raised the noise floor, but I don't think I would record anything above demo quality with this. It does seem a little flimsy, but for portable live sound it's just fine. Behringer product have the best engineering they can steal but the build quality is not so hot, so if you have a consistent signal chain and baby the products, Behringers WILL last. DBX has about the same signal quality but is much more rugged if that's what you need; the next step up in signal quality is probably the presonus multi-channel, but save you're money unless you're making a real attempt at studio recording. The price point and signal integrity (for LIVE sound) freed up money for me to spend on things like a Mixwizard, e935's and a complete Mogami wiring chain so when I AB'd clean vs compressed, there was no doubt about the signal integrity.

A solid product for a good price

By Fuzzball

from Ida, MI

This unit is an inexpensive 4-channel expander, noise gate, compressor, and peak limiter. I purchased this item to use for our churches sound system and it has been a fantastic bargain. The compressor does an excellent job of adding punch while not degrading the sound quality. I usual use this unit to compress 4 vocalists at the same time. The unit was easy to hookup to my VLZ mixer. The unit is built well and I use it at least 3 times a week and I have never had a problem with it yet. The instruction manual could have been better but for the cost this unit is an excellent bargain.
