Overview

The Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S Powered Mixer (2 x 800W stereo, 1600W bridged mode) produces even more power than its predecessors while maintaining famously low weight and high efficiency. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer employs Class-D technology including a switch-mode power supply, significantly reducing weight and heat. The 10-Channel Behringer PMP1680S boasts 8 high-quality built-in mic preamps, 24-bit FX processors, and FBQ Feedback Detection.

What is Class-D Technology?
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means the amps don't need massive heat sinks, and that makes them lighter. This no-compromise design means the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer will deliver full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.

When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don't require huge and heavy transformers, Behringer's Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo
EUROPOWER PMP1680S gives you the choice of 2 x 800-Watt stereo, 2 x 800-Watt dual mono mode (giving you a mono version of the main signal through one powered output plus a mono version of all monitor send signals through the second powered input) or 1,600-Watt bridged mono sound. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixers can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.

Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the EUROPOWER PMP1680S. It gives you 8 mic inputs.

Built-in Digital Effects Processor
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S comes equipped with a 24-bit FX processor, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus, and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you're pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processor features a footswitch jack for remote on/off. Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you've grown attached to, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S can integrate them into the mix while leaving out the built-in FX processor.

Changing the Channels
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer has excellent flexibility to accommodate whatever a performance requires. You get 8 channels for mics, guitars, and other mono instruments. Stereo channels 7-10 are designed to work in pairs as stereo channels, or independently for more mono instruments. All mono channels have 3-band EQ, switchable Low cut filter for eliminating infrasonics, and Clip LEDs to indicate when the input signal is too hot.

A STANDBY switch mutes all mic channels during breaks, preventing the microphones from picking up noise or interference. You can leave all faders untouched while you play a CD via the CD/TAPE inputs.

The FBQ Feedback Detection system automatically shows you which frequencies are causing feedback. Just touch the FBQ button and watch the red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ pinpoint show you which frequencies to adjust for optimized sound, without the feedback.

The Ins and Outs
Use the CD/TAPE IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The VOICE CANCELLER switch eliminates the vocals from pre-recorded music for instant karaoke applications.

CD/TAPE OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device. The left and right output 1/4" connectors can be used for a variety of purposes, including connecting more power amps. Connect monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MON SOUND output. Powered outputs on this mixer are available in professional Speakon-compatible format.

Small, Simple, Superb
Medium-sized events call for a lightweight, easy-to-use powered mixer. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer is one of the most efficient, affordable mixers for the job, and is even suitable for use as a pure analog mixer or as a pure power amplifiers. With new technological advantages and incredible built-in features, it's easier than ever to lend exceptional sound quality to all kinds of public performances.

I got old.. I needed something that did not break my back. After MUCH research I gave the 1680s a try. So far I am more than happy. Less than 22lbs! 1600 watts (more like 400-500RMS per channel old style watts). This thing has a GREAT sound...rich and full, actually unbelievable for it's size. I would have given it 5 stars except for the effects (except for a reverb or two). They are totally worthless...no usable echo...you can't adjust any effects except for the depth. The "behringer speaker function" acts like an old style "loudness" button. So far after a few trio, rock and roll gigs, this thing is great!

Bought this unit a little over 2 years ago. Had a decent sound, was a lighter weight than other brands and looked nice with all the lights on it. However, being a professional musician who makes a full-time living at performing, Behringer just couldn't take the constant use and eventually died after only 2 years from purchase. Trying to get it repaired was a nightmare and I came to find out that is was not worth the time or money to fix since most repair technicians consider it to be a sub-standard product and not worth the money needed to repair it after the warranty has expired.
If you are a professional in the music business you are better off spending the extra money to buy units made by companies such as Yamaha or Mackie. I've had my Yamaha EMX 640 Powered Mixer since 1999 and it's still going strong. I actually bought the Behringer PMP1680 to replace the Yamaha but it turned out that the Yamaha had to replace the Behringer. Bottom line, it's not a good product that you can count on.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

This mixer is one of the most powerful powered all-in-one mixers on the market! I just recently purchased a second mixer as a backup to the first one which is going on 4.5 years of use of regular gigging of approximately 120-150 shows per year. I use it for full blown loud rock band events to acoustic and DJ shows. It has NEVER LET ME DOWN! Not once! We have even powered large house speakers and it performed flawlessly. We've never reached the full potential of the 800 watts per side of this head, but it's great to have the extra horsepower! Buy this head, you won't regret it! ;-)

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I have been using my Behringer 1680s for years. Whether doing a solo acoustic gig, or running vocals and synths for a full band, this thing has delivered a solid performance consistently! Be gentle with it, as the knobs and such are plastic and can be prone to breaking or coming off . . . so I've mounted mine in an SKB road case and have just taken good care of it. It has plenty of power and the onboard effects are very useful. If mine died tomorrow, I would by the exact same one over again. I've used mine for over ten years, and for the majority of those years, the unit saw action at least three nights a week!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I have been using this powered mixer for my DJ and karaoke. It has lots of power for only being 22 lbs. I have been using it a 2 years without any issues and it comes with a 3 year warranty. I was reading other reviews of people saying they had nothing but issues so I am not sure if they had a bad batch of them come out or what happened. I haven't had any issues in 2 years. It's a class D amp and it does have a nice sound to it. People think of class D as not being a good amp. It can't be farther from the truth. It gives out great sound and puts out a lot of power without a lot of power loss! It has many inputs for hooking up instraments that I don't use it as a DJ amp and it gives me the mic inputs to use it for karaoke. I used mine with JBL JRX115 speakers that call for an amp rated from 250 to 500 watts RMS and max watts of 1000 at 8 Ohm. To tell the truth I bought the speakers first then needed a Powered mixer with enough power to power them. I found this Powered mixer listed and it said 1600 watts and at first I thought thats to much. Then I looked into it that is peak power when it is set to mono at a lower rated Ohm and when you had higher Ohm speakers the power output dropped. Every power mixer I was looking at was rated the same way! So depending on your speakers you need to research the amps to find the power output by ohms. This one does 300 watts RMS at 8 ohm per channel and 400 watts max at 8 Ohm per channel. It pairs nicely with my JBL JRX115 speakers. I DJ at bars and everyone always tells me about how nice they sound. It was hard to find another power mixer with as much watts per channel at 8 Ohm as this one!
The Peavey XR 8600D also does 300 watts RMS into 8 ohms and the price is a lot higher! they list it as being 600 watts per program! but it drops down again with 8 ohm speakers. and peak power at 8ohm is 360 watts so the EUROPOWER PMP1680S has it beat with 400 watts peak into 8 ohm! and there is a huge price differance!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

Had this for over 6 months. This was a great upgrade for our band. I love all the features it offers and it is super light-weight! The matching speakers are also light-weight and the package is well worth the money. It doesn't pull as much power as our old head, yet gives more sound. Each channel is very clear, but even after EQ, the head is a bit noisy over the speakers (but not on direct line recording); however, once you start playing you don't really hear the hiss. I've been in the music biz for 30+ years and this head is one of the best deals ever - perfect for up to a 5-piece band that plays small to medium venues. We've had this at outdoor festivals as well as indoor gigs with horrid acoustics, and it performs wonderfully anywhere. I love the feature it has that allows you to run a line directly from the head to a recorder (we use the Tascam Portastudios). The karaoke feature isn't that great because it doesn't pull all the vocals out, but we aren't a karaoke sort of group anyway. The feedback feature is helpful but not as fantastic as I had expected. The onboard effects are excellent and have individual mix controls for each bank and each channel – this is a fantastic feature! The channel pad feature works super well as does the clip feature. Overall, this is an excellent head for the right purpose.

I have been using this amp/mixer for about 6 months now and I have to say that I am very pleased!

I have used this is may way, from recording, to running a band pa, to it's primary use, as my mains amp and mixer for my mobile dj service.

I run a microphone, mixer, and ipad when i dj. I have the mic on channel 1, ipad on channel 7/8, and mixer on channel 9/10. I run the mixer and ipad on the monitor channel only. I then run a trs out of the monitor out into my processor in mono, then into a 3 way crossover. I then run the high and mid back into the mixer into channels 5 and 6 with pad turned on. I then run those channels and the microphone to the main out and then to the behringer 15 xl speakers via bridge mode.

I love this mixer/amp! It is so versatile and unique! Without question, buy it!

This amp I have owned for 3 years and has been pushed to its limit on a lot of shows, rocking blues band, alternative music band and general parties hooked up with mono. It has copped a fair beating and just kept working. Mind you at this rate of abuse it would at some stage stop working, but for now it's still doing it's thing. Excellent little amp.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

Bought this unit a week or two ago so far the unit is performing as well as was advertised. Have put this little monster to work all functions work great at this time. plenty of power, functions work well, the effects sound good, and for the money I think this unit is well worth the price!
