Overview

The Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S Powered Mixer (2 x 800W stereo, 1600W bridged mode) produces even more power than its predecessors while maintaining famously low weight and high efficiency. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer employs Class-D technology including a switch-mode power supply, significantly reducing weight and heat. The 10-Channel Behringer PMP1680S boasts 8 high-quality built-in mic preamps, 24-bit FX processors, and FBQ Feedback Detection.

What is Class-D Technology?
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means the amps don't need massive heat sinks, and that makes them lighter. This no-compromise design means the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer will deliver full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.

When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don't require huge and heavy transformers, Behringer's Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo
EUROPOWER PMP1680S gives you the choice of 2 x 800-Watt stereo, 2 x 800-Watt dual mono mode (giving you a mono version of the main signal through one powered output plus a mono version of all monitor send signals through the second powered input) or 1,600-Watt bridged mono sound. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixers can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.

Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the EUROPOWER PMP1680S. It gives you 8 mic inputs.

Built-in Digital Effects Processor
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S comes equipped with a 24-bit FX processor, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus, and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you're pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processor features a footswitch jack for remote on/off. Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you've grown attached to, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S can integrate them into the mix while leaving out the built-in FX processor.

Changing the Channels
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer has excellent flexibility to accommodate whatever a performance requires. You get 8 channels for mics, guitars, and other mono instruments. Stereo channels 7-10 are designed to work in pairs as stereo channels, or independently for more mono instruments. All mono channels have 3-band EQ, switchable Low cut filter for eliminating infrasonics, and Clip LEDs to indicate when the input signal is too hot.

A STANDBY switch mutes all mic channels during breaks, preventing the microphones from picking up noise or interference. You can leave all faders untouched while you play a CD via the CD/TAPE inputs.

The FBQ Feedback Detection system automatically shows you which frequencies are causing feedback. Just touch the FBQ button and watch the red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ pinpoint show you which frequencies to adjust for optimized sound, without the feedback.

The Ins and Outs
Use the CD/TAPE IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The VOICE CANCELLER switch eliminates the vocals from pre-recorded music for instant karaoke applications.

CD/TAPE OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device. The left and right output 1/4" connectors can be used for a variety of purposes, including connecting more power amps. Connect monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MON SOUND output. Powered outputs on this mixer are available in professional Speakon-compatible format.

Small, Simple, Superb
Medium-sized events call for a lightweight, easy-to-use powered mixer. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer is one of the most efficient, affordable mixers for the job, and is even suitable for use as a pure analog mixer or as a pure power amplifiers. With new technological advantages and incredible built-in features, it's easier than ever to lend exceptional sound quality to all kinds of public performances.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I have been using this powered mixer for my DJ and karaoke. It has lots of power for only being 22 lbs. I have been using it a 2 years without any issues and it comes with a 3 year warranty. I was reading other reviews of people saying they had nothing but issues so I am not sure if they had a bad batch of them come out or what happened. I haven't had any issues in 2 years. It's a class D amp and it does have a nice sound to it. People think of class D as not being a good amp. It can't be farther from the truth. It gives out great sound and puts out a lot of power without a lot of power loss! It has many inputs for hooking up instraments that I don't use it as a DJ amp and it gives me the mic inputs to use it for karaoke. I used mine with JBL JRX115 speakers that call for an amp rated from 250 to 500 watts RMS and max watts of 1000 at 8 Ohm. To tell the truth I bought the speakers first then needed a Powered mixer with enough power to power them. I found this Powered mixer listed and it said 1600 watts and at first I thought thats to much. Then I looked into it that is peak power when it is set to mono at a lower rated Ohm and when you had higher Ohm speakers the power output dropped. Every power mixer I was looking at was rated the same way! So depending on your speakers you need to research the amps to find the power output by ohms. This one does 300 watts RMS at 8 ohm per channel and 400 watts max at 8 Ohm per channel. It pairs nicely with my JBL JRX115 speakers. I DJ at bars and everyone always tells me about how nice they sound. It was hard to find another power mixer with as much watts per channel at 8 Ohm as this one!
The Peavey XR 8600D also does 300 watts RMS into 8 ohms and the price is a lot higher! they list it as being 600 watts per program! but it drops down again with 8 ohm speakers. and peak power at 8ohm is 360 watts so the EUROPOWER PMP1680S has it beat with 400 watts peak into 8 ohm! and there is a huge price differance!

Behringer 1680S is a reliable mixer

    By Christopher Thompson _

    from Rohnert Park, CA

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

Im a weekend warrior and the band I'm in has been using the same style Behringer 10 Channel Powered Mixer for about 10 years and the mixer has never let us down. I now have the 1680S for my own system and find it to be the same quality as the previous mixer. Folks it has a 3 year manufacturers warranty that covers parts and labor so Im not worrying about a thing! While others are breaking their backs lugging lots of equipment around and spending time tinkering with minute sound quality issues I will be setting up my Behringer and playing music.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I bought this disaster to replace my older Peavey unit 2 years ago. This thing lasted 2 weeks, then blew out, and that was just after 3 practices! Needless to say, 2 years later, and I'm still using the same Peavey with no problems. This unit is worthless.

    Great Product!!

    By Val Ciardelli

    from Columbus

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I read the other reviews and felt I should offer my input. I bought mine used. My acoustic duo gigs a few times a week. I have been using the unit for nearly two years and have never had a single problem. It is compact, light-weight and powerful. I actually carry it in a rolling suitcase that fits it perfectly. If you've had three of these and none of them worked out....I'd chalk it up to "user error". Behringer makes good products. I have many of them and I have been very happy with all. The effects are "totally" usable. I'm not sure what the deal is with these statements. Perhaps again..."user error". Maybe the EQ needs a bit of tweaking. Maybe you're sending returning too much effect. I'm not saying that they are the best but if you are seeking great quality effects, you wouldn't be buying this...you'd be buying something else altogether. A little verb(#2) and a little of that "doubler"(#54)....and the vox and instruments sound great. Also, another review mentions a Samson product. "Bang for the buck" Behringer wins...hands down! Nothing even comes close! I would recommend this unit to anyone. It may not be practical in all applications, but for a solo, duo, or any other small combination, it simply kicks"! As with any product...do the research, read reviews and try it before you buy it if you have the opportunity.

I am on my third unit and I haven't did a show with one

    By Bud

    from Greensburg, Pa

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

Behringer should spend less time on effects and more time on quality control I can understand one unit being bad it is after all electrical and things can happen but I am working on my third unit and I have not been able to do one show. The first one I took it out of the box played with the effects for about a half hour with nothing connected to it, it popped twice and smoke came out of the back. The second one would not even fire up right out of the box. Guitar Center is great about taking care of problems but I think Behringer should take some responisablity for the poor workmanship of this unit

Replaced my CS-800 and 701R mixer

    By David

    from Estill, SC

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I got old.. I needed something that did not break my back. After MUCH research I gave the 1680s a try. So far I am more than happy. Less than 22lbs! 1600 watts (more like 400-500RMS per channel old style watts). This thing has a GREAT sound...rich and full, actually unbelievable for it's size. I would have given it 5 stars except for the effects (except for a reverb or two). They are totally worthless...no usable echo...you can't adjust any effects except for the depth. The "behringer speaker function" acts like an old style "loudness" button. So far after a few trio, rock and roll gigs, this thing is great!
