I bought this a month ago because I have a hard time hearing everyone else in the band. This did the trick! This monitor has a lot of power! It heats up quick but it has an awesome cooling method. It has little fans in it that cool it down. I was standing in front of it and all the sudden felt a breeze, didn't know where it was coming from, until I realized it was the monitor itself.

So I went to Guitar Center last night to test out the Mackie SRM150 and the Behringer Eurolive B205D spot monitors ( mic stand style). I had read pretty good reviews about the B205 with and a couple even specifically lashed out against the Mackie?s. I went to Kirkland because they specifically had the B205?s in stock. I put both monitors through a side by side test with a) an Ipod, B) Guitar, C) vocal, D) Guitar and vocals combined The first thing worth noting is that the overall tone and sound you get from a spot monitor is certainly NOTHING like you get from a 12? speaker. As a general rule, very thin tone comparatively. Having said that, I think the 3 band eq in both units makes a HUGE difference. Both speakers came alive with richer tones when the low and mid EQ were increased. Unfortunately for the B205d, that is where the rubber meets the road as far as I was concerned. With the low end EQ turned up, the B205d speaker could not handle the thud and was cracking and popping whereby the Mackie continued to deliver smooth low end tone even with the low eq maxed out. Additionally, when I play acoustic I sometimes ?slap? near the sound hole or strings. At higher volume and with the low eq up, the B205?s picked up everything with it?s overdriven snap, crackle, and pop. Not so much on the Mackie. I think the internal speaker on the Mackie is slightly larger than the B205, and if that?s what made the difference, then so be it. I suspect it is just better components in the speaker and crossover. Over all 4 tests above, I found the Mackie to create better overall tone and sensitivity over the B205?s. The B205?s may have been slightly louder at lower volumes, but that?s about it. Another interesting note is that they had a display set up with these side by side, but he had to swap out the B205 because the speaker was already blown in the display before we had even started! One more reason to be nervous about the B205's. I suspect at the end of the day, that these types of monitors are just going to be trouble in general if they are overdriven or abused in any way. If handled with care for lighter acoustic shows, they should work fine. I understand that price is an issue, and the difference in price a unit is quite a difference, but in terms of quality of sound, there is no question the Mackie SRM150 is better.

I've only used the monitor at 2 rehearsals but it works great and is equal to the Mackie SRM150 at half the cost.

Simply Amazing

By D Smith

from Shingle Springs, CA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

I purchased one unit to see how well it will work as a portable PA / music system for a high school environment. Truely a great sound system - easy to use, light weight and portable. Use it with both wired and wireless mics and an IPOD - results are spectacular. I will be tossing our bix box sound systems and replacing them with these portable units. I plan on purchasing 4 more units.

awesome

By Bill Nolan

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

I picked this up the other day in store at guitar center. I was looking for a good monitor that was compact and would be easy to place at my drum kit. I was able to mount this on my gibralter drum rack and let me tell you the vocals are very loud and very clear, it simply works fantastic ! its worth every penny and in my opinion a much better buy than the Mackie which is basically the same and far more money ! awesome monitor I would highly recomend this for any live situation. I hope to eliminate the rest of the floor monitors and talk the rest of my band into these units. Not much more to say, if you want a compact , loud clear monitor that is easy to handle this is the unit for you, awesome job behringer ! if I could i would rate 10 stars!

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

I bought this for multi uses. It is perfect for practice. I plug in my i-pod, Mic and Tele and the sound is nice works great light and easy to transport. I can practice with it for hours. Use it for a monitor or use it just as a single mic PA for practice. This thing is Universal. Was back ordered for months glad I waited. Price is very resonable

Oh sooo cool

By Beat Banger

from roswell,GA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

Did the research and read all the reviews on line as well as talking to people at the music stores and fellow musician's. I had the Mackie on hold and would have spent the money for it until I read all the reports about the less than desirerable construction of the stand connectors. After that I just said what the hey, and put my money down on the B205D. First the sound is great, the connections are all metal not plastic like another brand, and the size and weight are unbelievable. So far at the two band practices we've had I love the unit and I haven't had to yell "turn up my monitor". Looking forward to live gig's, but I suspect it'll do just fine. Glad I bought this unit and saved the extra bucks.

Great for presentations

By Michele Spector

from New Orleans, LA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

This speaker is easy to travel with and fits great in my suitcase for an overnight trip. I gave presentations across middle America to the hard of hearing and I needed a speaker that had enough volume for the patrons to hear me in large banquet rooms. This speaker is ideal for those situations. It even makes a cheap microphone sound good! A bonus is being able to hook it up to my computer for the sound during my presentations. I have also used it for parties and church events for singing gigs and "playing DJ". I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I used these in a small, loud bar...JAZZ QUARTET ...medium loud.
After the 1st set I turned them off and just used the built in speakers
of my Yamaha P-255. They were all I needed, although the Behringers will be
handy for bigger venues and louder ensembles...or as monitors for the bassist and drummer.

    AWESOME!!!!

    By deb erney

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

Picked it up at GC today and it exceeded my expectations. Plugged in my bass, good for bass practice, plugged in electric guitar with mic and it sounded great. I then plugged in the iPod and walked around my 3,000 sq. ft. house and heard it everywhere. Even plugged in my TV and it sounded pretty good. "Bose surround sound system was slightly better for TV." I bought this to use as a practice amp and monitor for band. Will see how the band likes it tomorrow. May go back and purchase another one. You could use this for a small coffee house or small bar gig with guitar and voice. You'd have a really nice sound with two of these. This could be used as a small Loud Speaker with a lot of umph and the voice is really clean. The sound is crystal clear with a decent bass thump and is very sturdy. Nothing flimsy with this. I had seen a local musician using this as a monitor and a man came up with a small, portable drum machine which they plugged into this Behringer and it sounded great.

I now have 3 of these...

    By Lawrence Williams

    from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

A friend of mine had me try the 205D on a couple of gigs as a vocal monitor. One of them was even an outdoor gig. They did great! The outdoor gig wasn't at ear bleed volume or anything, but it was dance/top40 (not quiet), and it even worked there. These little guys are quite loud! Our lead singer (female) likes them better than wedges because they're closer (more immediate sound) and she can reach right over and grab the volume control. Since they're small speakers, I wouldn't try to run bass or kick drum through them and expect great results, but I ran keyboards through them and it worked just fine (keyboardist is on the other side of the stage from me). The other nice thing about these is that unlike wedge monitors, there is very little "backspill" to muddy up the front-of-house mix, so your mains sound better in small and mid-size rooms. Yeah...I went out and bought two more...I now have three - and no wedges.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

Excellent unit for the price. Can be used in multiple ways depending on your need. You can connect via the main / thru and still can connect other source via the inputs and have sound coming out of the back with independant volume controls, and a master control to control everything at the same time. Great power in a little box. Very light weight also. Adaptable to any microphone stand.

One of my band mates bought one of these and recommended it to me. I have used it in my studio room and at a full band rehearsal but haven't gigged with it yet. I'm sure it will work just fine!

I like the ability to mix from three inputs - I can run tracks, mic, and guitar for practice or even use it as a mixer for solo gigs - just line out to my mains and it's good to go! I have a vocal processor that adds reverb and harmony so who needs a "real" mixer for solo jobs?

Great little monitor for the bucks

      By Aubrey Lindsey

      from Texas City, TX

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

For the money I spent, I am well pleased with my EUROLIVE B205D. I use it in conjuction with our floor monitors so I can get my backup vocal just above the mix and it really helps me hear whether I'm in tune or not. I'm surprised by the volume, quality, and clarity of the little box. I think I prefer to use it on a seperate mike stand, but have used it inline with my boom without any problems. Overall I highly recomend this to anyone who has difficulty hearing themselves in the vocal mix. Seems to be built sturdy enough, and the price is right.

I connect this effect with my guitar amp and setup some patches and it gives different tone when I take balanced output from my effect pedal to house speakers. because my effect pedal is already a modeling amp and again i am running through another modeling amp. since i cant afford big speaker i bought this small guy. blown away by its sound. now i can be very sure that my patches will sound exactly same in live too

the volume for this bad boy is a little low, but if your in a small 3 member band like me it works very well. we have an active p.a., and i just run it like the rest of the speakers, in line. don't use it for much else but it is loud enough for a small coffee house gig or for practice. I think this was a good buy for my needs. The staff at guitar center Memphis was awesome! they even called me to ask if i was satisfied. Great job GC. I'll be back.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

I just picked up my B205D today, so I won't be able to tell you of its durability. But what I can tell you is that this unit ROCKS! The reason I purchased it was for small kids parties. Where all that is needed is a little amplification for vocals and guitar and possibly as a monitor for my drummer when doing full band gigs at bars and clubs. From what I've heard so far, this will do that and much more. The power this thing has is amazing. And if I were to hook it up to a larger active speaker, wow, I can only imagine. Now I don't personally play to tracks. But if you do, it's even got a CD input. So that's 3 inputs, ability to hook up other speakers and 150watts of power. Oh, and it's only about the size of a small Bongo drum. I own several pieces of Behringer and they are all built well. This is no exception.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B205D Active PA/Monitor Speaker:

I've been using a JBL EON 315 as a keyboadr amp/monitor for some time, and have never been happy with it. Blown horn drivers, woofers, loose, sloppy, noisy input/output terminals. Too expensive/fragile. Then I saw a keyboardist friend of mine using the Behringer B205D, and asked him how it worked for him. We do a lot of similar gigs, so his input was pretty valuable. Based on his advice, I went to GC and bought one. I.ve had it about a month, and am really pleased. It's tiny light and loud. The sound quality is as good as my JBL, and so far more dependable. I play some pretty loud gigs and it keeps up just fine.
