Overview

BEHRINGER's EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO 18" active subwoofer is packed with an incredible array of truly professional features to provide you with extreme levels of low-end punch while also giving you the kind of definition and clarity typically reserved for much larger systems.

Class-D amplifiers (with switch-mode power supplies) drive the custom-designed low frequency drivers for sonically optimized output. The B1800D-PRO also provides you with a much better power-to weight ratio than other 1400W active subwoofers.

Put simply, this cool-running system is much lighter, making it ultra-easy to transport and set up. Its no-compromise design means you get amazingly-deep, chest-pounding bass that will keep the party going all night long. Buy a pair to add a more complete bottom-end for your active full-range speaker system.

What is Class-D Technology?
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means this amp doesn™t need a massive heat sink, which keeps it lighter. The B1800D-PRO's design delivers full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.

When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don™t require huge and heavy transformers, BEHRINGER's Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity.

Custom-Designed Transducers
Since the transducers (woofers and tweeters) are the only part of a sound system you actually hear, BEHRINGER custom-designs and builds their transducers from scratch. Not only do they wind their own voice coils, they process the paper pulp into cones and even machine their own backplates.

Take control
The B1800D-PRO features balanced XLR inputs and outputs, as well as balanced XLR THRU jacks for connecting additional enclosures. A BOOST FREQUENCY knob targets a boost frequency between 45Hz and 90Hz. Flick the BOOST switch to give your selected frequency a +6 dB boost. These subs also feature a HIGH CUT dial to control the upper corner frequency for the subwoofer' amplifier. The HIGH CUT dial does not affect the THRU signals, only signals directed to the subwoofer (however, it does affect the signals sent out through the Output sockets of the subwoofer to reach the full-range speakers). A LEVEL knob controls the input gain, and the PHASE switch reverses output phase to compensate for frequency cancellation between the subwoofer and satellite speakers. LEDs show operational status at a glance, including power, signal present, and input overloads.

Features
  • 1400W Class-D amplifier with comprehensive over-excursion, thermal, and clip limit protection
  • 18'' long-excursion transducer with high-temperature voice coil provides accurate, pulse-pounding bass

behringer came on my radar about 6 months ago when i read an article that said they were starting to make decent gear. a few months ago, we were playing drum and bass/house/electro at a big bar and the other audio guy had no sub to go with some mackie thumps. so i picked up this 1800D and yes, stop the review - bottom line, for [$], the thing wangs harder than even mackie sr1800s, clean loud bass, most effective within the first 30' of the stage, would pair excellent with a folded sub or another active sub aimed a bit farther out. but i'm talking about playing loud, hot-signal techno for 300 ppl in a not-club. it was strenuous audio work and the behringer 1800D handled the whole 6+ hours like a boss. when plugged straight into a DJ mixer i would suggest checking your mixer attentuation and making sure you feed this sub a clean signal that doesnt clip at 6 or lower on its volume dial. then dial in the crossover from there. this sub makes it simple to do some pro-level work.this is my first review so im trying to be thorough. bottom line, buy the sub if you are like me a review lurker trying to get the most bang for the buck.

Speaker function is decent, but Musicians Friend dropped the ball (or speakers) on this one. What I received from Musicians Friend were damaged used speakers instead of new ones. One speaker had a caved in grill. The grill on the other speaker was dented. The speakers still functioned though. I sent pictures of the packages when I received them and the speakers when they were removed from the box.The first customer rep. I spoke to even told me it looked like I was sent used speakers by mistake. After looking at the used/damaged speakers on Musicians Friend, there were used speakers with the exact description of the speakers I received. Musicians Friend offered to let me keep the speakers at a price far higher than what they had them listed. I have been a Musicians Friend customer for a long time, but this will be the last thing I ever purchase from them again.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

These ARE HEAVY. You'll need a second person AND hand truck. However, I've been doing sound gigs for over a year now and they thump. The high-pass filter works well and easy to configure. Very satisfied. I've been doing high-performing rock bands and they give a "concert level" response. Worth it.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

Absolutely amazed at this sub. It is a bit on the heavy so be sure you have nice hand truck or dolly handy. Sound is nice, low and loud. Been doing sound for over 20 years and am amazed at the full low end these guys can produce. Bought these to replace a pair of Mackie SRM1801 18 which were absolutely garbage but thats for another review.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

I've been gigging with cover bands for 25+ years. We needed a sub for center fills when we play outside. I saw this Behringer powered sub, and the reviews, coupled with the price and decided to give it a try. We've used it about 8 times now inside and outside, and couldn't be happier. It does exactly what we were hoping for. It's powerful enough that when we play inside for a crowd of about 200, we use ONLY this sub and 2 mains. If you'll take the time to get the crossover settings right, it'll sound great! I like this sub so much I'm about to get another one. Lots of bass and kick comes through, and clean sound too!!

Amazing Subwoofer

By Lukas Yelle

from Adams Massachusetts

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

I had been looking around for a nice subwoofer for my mobile DJ company and when I finally settled on this one I knew it was the right choice. The bass that comes out of this Sub is so tight and powerful it made my system sound 110% better right out of the box. For the price, you absolutely can not go wrong with buying this Behringer product. One downside is its bulkiness and weight, but it just needs to be moved with two people and that problem goes away. Using this speaker in my house made objects on a shelf a floor below the Sub move around and rattle, luckily nothing has fallen yet. Out of other Subwoofers I have heard, some that are way more expensive, this sub blows the competition out of the water. Obviously a QSC $1300 Sub would sound a lot better but for the price this Sub is awesome.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

I purchased a single B1800D-Pro Sub for a benefit I was going to perform where my system would be the main entertainment (Karaoke-DJ). I wanted to make sure that I had great sound for this important event.
I could not have been happier with the results, I had tons of compliments throughout the day. The coolest part, right out of the box, I played 15 hours straight from 10:00 am till 1:00 am, without a hitch...

Skeptical about buying? READ THIS!!!!!

By Matt Hamilton

from Dublin, CA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

First off I am going to say I was not sure of the Behringer brand because of some people saying that their products are not going to last... and all I can say is WRONG! This woofer hits extremely hard and shakes everything and I mean EVERYTHING. It has such great response to low frequencies and not making them sound muffled or muddy. The "mixer" on the back has some very nice feature that include a high cut (Choose where to cut off the frequency so no vocals play through the woofer), a signal boost (Controls how much its boosts the signal when the boost switch is turned on) and last but not least the volume knob. The inputs range from an input, through (A male XLR that puts out the exact same signal that is going into the woofer) and a male XLR that is like the through but cuts off the frequency at 100 so it is perfect for daisy chaining woofers. This woofer is easily one of the best ones on the market, I would rather use this one then most of the JBL and QSC ones. So with this woofer there is only one draw back and it is its weight... It is clocked in at I believe 82 pounds and it is just wide enough where its kinda awkward to do by yourself. Thank you for taking the time to read this! if you have any questions about it from a happy Behringer user email me @ yamanmatt@gmail.com

Excellent sound and features, but heavy

By Robert Rio

from Reading, PA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

I am giving the Eurolive B1800D-Pro Subwoofer 5-stars because it really is a great unit. The sound quality and ease of use can't be matched for the price point. I am, however, a mobile DJ, so I am constantly loading and unloading my equipment a couple times a week and the size and weight of this sub makes that difficult at times unless you have a helper. Other than that, the unit is solid, the EQ settings are stable, the bass is tight with dance, rock, and classic rock tracks, and I have had no issues with it at all in live settings.

Kickin' bass.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

Well to start, there's NO denying this sub is heavy. I highly recommend having 2 people to lift it and to put it on a dolly or hand-truck of some sort. I have 2 of them and have lifted and moved these subs by myself multiple times (I only weigh 20 pounds more than the sub) and it's not tough, just be sure you know what you're doing when you lift..As stupid as that sounds, you will screw your up your back if you lift these the wrong way.

So do they kick? Absolutely! They kick hard actually. I wanted to buy two subs for my PA system so I went to Guitar Center to hear some different brands. The Mackie's, Peavey's and Alto's were too muddy, the QSC's too expensive..(No JBL's in stock). But then there were the Behringer's. They rocked the room with output like the QSC's but the bass wasn't as clear, however, I like my bass kinda distorted so it worked out. Plus they didn't sound like a fart like some of the other brands.

For the price, you can't beat these subs. I've been using 2 of them for many band and DJ gigs and they always provide the low end that I need to fill any room, including high ceiling gymnasiums for middle school dances. If you don't like the idea of a 120 pound subwoofer, get something else because it's NOT worth getting injured by your equipment. But if you're running a production company like myself and will have help at gigs moving gear, go for it. You won't be disappointed with these. The XLR inputs are great, the "thru" outputs are extremely convenient, the rear design keeps the speakers from getting hot and the boost and high pass options are also pretty killer and can be utilized nicely.

Great on a budget

By Samir Thaker

from Ohio

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B1800D-PRO Active 18" Subwoofer:

This sub is good if you're on a tight budget. Nice thump to it :) However you'll need 2 if you're playing in venues of 300+ people. Just a heads up... The JBL Prx618-XLF and QSC KW181 blow this sub out of the water. Also this sub weighs a ton, is large, and bulky. Despite the 1400 watts this sub claims to be, you are not going to get the "chest thumping" bass if thats what you're going for. Overall 4/5 since the price is amazing. I bought mine for $600
