Overview

The Behringer DI20 is an innovative active 2-channel DI-box/splitter that takes the signal directly from an unbalanced high-impedance output - like an electric guitar - and feeds it directly into a mixing console or recorder. It is ideally suited to augment the traveling gear of musicians (especially guitar/bass players) as well as live/studio/broadcast engineers, installation contractors, and studio/live event engineers. The DI20 converts 2 separate unbalanced 1/4" jack inputs into 2 balanced XLR outputs. There is a 2-channel/link mode for flexible usage as mono, 2-channel, or splitter box. In link mode, channel 1 can be split up into 2 balanced XLR connectors plus 1 unbalanced 1/4" jack connector. Switchable input attenuation in 3 ranges allows input levels of up to +48dBu, while a ground lift switch eliminates typical ground loop problems. Operates on 9V battery or 48V phantom power. Ultracompact rugged housing.

  • Converts 2 separate unbalanced 1/4" inputs to 2 balanced XLR outputs

The hisssss doesnt stop!!!

By E Mann

from Douglasville Ga

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

My brother and I bought this product because of its features. The stereo capabilities were its main selling point as well as the idea of being able to run it on the phantom power. We used it ON a Fantom X keyboard, but the hiss was very LOUD!!! Its great if your sound system has the same issue but not desirable if you are going for a clean sound.

Unusable hiss generator

By Andy

from Tucson, AZ

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

A band brought one of these into my venue. Because they had a ton of keyboard and weirdness, we had to use it because I needed more than the six DIs we have in the kit. When I brought up the channel on the FOH console, the hiss was astonishing. It didn't matter whether anything was connected to its input or not, or whether it ran on the battery or phantom power. The only things we could reasonably do is send a very hot signal from the instrument, which of course clipped this thing, and mute the channels between songs. Seriously, this is a must-to-avoid.

Works great for Electronic Drums & Guitar

By BassMan

from Alexandria, VA

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

This unit works great at my church for the electronic drum set and acoustic guitar at my church. it is placed between the Roland amplifier/monitor for both and the sound system XLR. I just wish it had an external power input (besides phantom power). We keep forgetting to turn it off after service so a new battery is required twice a month.

Simple, You get what you pay for.

By Rene

from Clifton, NJ

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

Definitely the worst stereo DI ever made. We purchased 2 at a local guitar center a few months back mainly due to its stereo capability. - But the hiss we received out of these units no matter what was connected to them was unbearable.

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

I've used this live and in the studio and I don't have any hiss problems to speak of. I always leave it on the 0dB setting, so maybe hiss is introduced by the pad. The one thing I love about this is that the 1/4" inputs can be unbalanced or balanced. I get a lot of artists who want to use the XLR outs on their keyboard or small mixer, which invariably have a buzz that you can't defeat without two inline XLR-XLR ground lifts. I have a set of XLR to 1/4" balanced cables into this unit and use the ground lift on the DI - hum gone and everything's still balanced.

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

unit makes so much noise it is un useable. Do not even consider this unit. I have several pieces of Behringer gear, all but this one are fine. It's a good idea and would be great if it actually performed. You would be better off using another product.
