DON'T FORGET THE CABLES

By adam raschka

from La Porte, IN

Comments about Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8 A/D/A Converter:

If you're a producer whose DAW channel strips are typically populated with more than three plugins, then this is the A/D/A unit for you. Don't even hesitate. Buy this. You'll have an extra 8 channels for not very much money. The preamps are much better than just "passable." I have mine connected to a Presonus Firestudio and the difference in the preamps is only slightly noticeable. The difference between the two sets of preamps is very easy to compensate for with an EQ (you'll want to boost 15k 1dB higher than you typically would). THE CABLES: You need a Toslink (optical audio) cable and a BNC cable. Set the sync switch on the back of the ADA8000 to "WC Slave" and connect the BNC cable to the "Out" word clock port on your interface.

Can't complain

By Chris D.

from Baton Rouge, LA

Comments about Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8 A/D/A Converter:

I was using 2 of these units with a MOTU 2408 legacy unit. I love the facr that they have a 2-way adat signal path and getting it to synch was an after thought. I used both units just shy of 5 years and both of them went out within the same week. Haven't tried to get them repaired because I'm not sure it's worth it. I got my money's worth out of them. I'll just get another one. Word of warning: you might get one initially that has issues, but don't panic. Most compainies have a 45 day money back deal. If it's gonna fail, it's gonna do it within 45 days.

Good product, Little information

By Jonny B

from Nicholasville, Kentucky

Comments about Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8 A/D/A Converter:

This unit works great...when you know how to hook it up. For a digi 003, you'll need an optical audio cable, and a double BNC-type wordclock cable. I had to order this cable and nobody seemed to know what it was. You can get sound without the wordclock cable, but it will pop and crack, defeating the purpose. I had to return what was probably a working unit before I realized that I needed the BNC cable. This is a coaxial cable with custom locking ends. Otherwise, this unit gives a clarity equal to that of other brands, at half the cost...or less. A fine addition to my studio rack. Perfect for individually recording each of my drum kit pieces at once. Eight more channels for my Digi 003!!

Good for the price!

By Stephen C.

Comments about Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8 A/D/A Converter:

I have used this in a studio setting and find that this preamp is very transparent and is great for tracking drums and guitars. If you're looking for a micpre with character, this is probably not the best option but for adding additional inputs to say a Digi 003, or using in a home studio, this item is a steal. (for the price)

cheap but effective

By Mickey T. Craft

from Chicago, Il

Comments about Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8 A/D/A Converter:

for the price you really can't beat this. like mackie, behringer gets a bad wrap. the pres arent the best, but they are usuable. the line inputs are pretty decent. i have used outboard pre's put into this device and i was surprised at how well it brought the signal in. the outputs are FANTASTIC if you want to mix "outside the box". like the other person said, the unit can work flawlessly with a 002 if thats the interface you are using. there are two solutions: 1. change the clock setting input in protools to "adat" 2. set the ada8000 to slave via adat easy as pie, decent sound, and CHEAP

Behringer ADA8000 does work

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8 A/D/A Converter:

The pops and clicks that the other customer was talking about in his review were due to the Digi002 and the ADA8000 not synchronizing with each other. It has been a while since I tried it because I got rid of my Digi002 but on the back of the ADA8000 you need to set the master/slave switch. Read the manual and all should be fine. Those pops and clicks are normal if your settings are wrong.
