  I own the XL 2400. This is the 5th mixer I have owned and by far the most feature rich I have in my stable. I have actually owned it for a number of years and I decided to write a review here because I recently had what appears to be a common issue with these mixers and I wanted to relay what I discovered upon disassembly to attempt to repair the unit. The issue I was experiencing was that the left MAIN A out was flaking. Sometimes it had output and other times it had none. After looking around the web I found others had experienced similar problems. Since I bought my unit slightly used, from the local Guitar Center, a number of years ago and since it was manufactured in 2005 I figured I was best off trying to sort the issue myself before sending it in for repair as It is not under warranty. Opening the case up was a relatively simple task. Inside there are three boards that are attached to the top of the mixer and those are the boards that carry all the sliders and pots on the face of the board. Aside from that there is a board on the back that holds all the ins and inserts, etc, and the main and monitor outs. Everything is interconnected by a handful of ribbon cables. There is also a small sub assembly for the two light sockets on the board and a surprisingly small power supply that is mounted to the base of the case. Really not a lot in there that is easily serviceable unless you have the schematics and know your way around electronics. Even then there are a lot of surface mount components so board level repairs are probably not feasible. At first blush I was rather bummed as I thought I might not be able to fix the thing on my own. About the only thing I could do was to check the connections where the ribbon cables plugged into the boards. Most of these were glued on one edge with a dab of glue from a hot glue gun. I am surprised that they were not *all* secured this way and wouldn?t you know it the ribbon cable that feeds the Main and Monitor outs was *not* secured with glue and it had popped partially out of the socket. I was actually pretty happy to see this and after reseating it and checking all the other connectors I put the thing back together and it worked like a charm. Tomorrow I will dig out my hot glue gun and I?ll secure the handful of connections that are not already glued. So, if you have this board and you are having weird issues with the Main outs or the Monitor outs, and are not afraid to open up your gear, then this is really a rather quick fix. If you do open your unit make sure you pull the top and the back plane as a single piece (don?t undo the screws that hold the backplane to the top of the mixers face you can take the backplane off by itself but there is not a whole lot of wiggle room to pull it out very far and you run the risk of breaking something) To get to the screws that holds the sides of the base to the face of the mixer you will have to first take the plastic sides (three screws on each side to remove those pieces). All the screws are standard Philips head screws (a #2 Philips driver works best) except for some reason the ones just under the very front of the face of the mixer. To remove those you will need small a hex wrench. I forget what size off the top of my head. Anyway if there is anyone out there who?s mixer is experiencing this issue I hope this info helps you. Other than this one issue the board has given me no problems. I have used it for a lot of open mic shows and multi-band showcases as well as in my home studio and it has performed very well in all instances. I really like the fact that it has inserts on the Main A outs as well as the channel as I can insert my EQ right there on the back of the board and insert my Feedback Destroyer on the vocal channels and then use the FX sends for effects. Honestly I have not yet run into a situation that this board hasn?t been able to handle and with 24 ins I can mic a drumkit and still have enough left over for plenty of vocal mic?s and instruments. Also with the direct outs on all the channels I can run straight out to my Personus Fire Studio interfaces and capture the entire mix to Cubase running on a PC mounted in my rack. Very cool. I absolutely LOVE this board. It gets the job done so even with this minor issue I'm giving it 5 stars.

• Great Board But.....

  I bought this board a year ago and when it was working it was great. I loved all the XLR outputs. The eq is really good. The pre amps are as advertised, very quiet. But the board does feel very light and sometimes a bit flimsy. So be gentle its not a rugged board for taking on the road. My board's EQ started to fail 8 months after I bought it. Behringer is replacing the board with another one. I say if you need a great studio board with limited use on the road then this is a nice board. This experience hasn't deterred me. Also I found that the Behringer Mic works really really well with their boards. Their powered speakers are great as well. Good luck to you!

• Exceeded my expectations!

  I've bought many pieces of musical gear through the years many of which I was very happy with. I took a chance I suppose ordering the Behringer XENYX XL2400 Live Mixer on a pre-order having only seen a black and white pic and read the specs. Needed a board for a five piece band that would let us do 5 monitor mixes plus have a send left over for effects which this does. I was shocked when it arrived at my house. Much nicer that I had expected. Behringer used a vivid color scheme on the controls and groups making the board very easy to use. No manual needed. Can't imagine anything can touch this board for the money! Highly recommend it!
