The next step in virtual amplification.

By adding a host of new features and capabilities to the Behringer V-AMP 2 Guitar Effects Processor, Behringer has upgraded their already-legendary modeler. You now get 32 amp models as well as the original 15 speaker simulations which can be selected independently of the amp models. A 24-bit, studio-quality stereo effects unit offers an array of useful algorithms including chorus, tremolo, compression, noise gate, delay, and much more. A separate, manually or MIDI-controllable wah and 9 stereo reverbs are available in combination with any other effect, amp, or speaker setting. 2 effects parameters are directly accessible. This cool unit retains the original V-Amp's chromatic tuner and a tap tempo function for realtime adjustment of effect speed. You also get an adjustable stereo aux input, stereo line output with speaker simulation, 3-band EQ, master volume, and adjustable headphone output. The MIDI interface enables realtime remote control, automation, data transfer, and access to additional parameters. The 125 onboard presets are organized into 25 banks and include 50 presets by renowned guitarists. On top of all that, the V-Amp 2 offers 5 practical configuration modes plus a presence control that simulates negative-feedback tube amps. The new preamp bypass lets you use it as a stereo effects unit. Dramatically improved gate and noise-reduction circuits produce an impressive 90dB S/N ratio. The V-Amp 2 is simple to operate with dedicated controls for all essential settings. Behringer offers additional presets and downloadable V-Amp editor software on its website. Behringer includes dual footswitch, AC adapter, and carrying bag with the V-Amp 2.

Behringer V-Amp2

V-Amp2 is a great unit from a company that makes pro-sounding gear affordable for the average musician. I have owned one for a year+ and have done everything with it. I play it at church; on tour and have used it in the studio. The guitars I play are a Standard Les Paul and a Stratocaster. I have even used the V-Amp2 on my Taylor. At some gigs I go through a PA via DI box with excellent results. My wife likes the headphone feature, so I don't keep her up till 3AM. My 14 year old plugs in an MP3 player via AUX IN and plays with her favorite bands. Very user friendly. Amps and patches are awesome right out of the box; a bit of tweaking made things even better. The FCB1010 controller; makes stage use a breeze. Other musicians can't believe the sounds, versatility and cost of this little guy. Two drawbacks are the plastic casing and proprietary power supply. The POD only offers better case construction and marketing. Want a consistent piece of gear that won't break the bank and will make you sound like a pro? Want simple onstage control? Get the V-Amp2 with the FCB1010. You will sound great and look good (hey, in rock n' roll, they're both important). You won't be disappointed.

The one

Vamp2 excellent choice, and for the price it has no comparison. I can easily say that is far better than POD 2.0, which I also own it. The drive knob performs excellent simulating each amp setting. They are pretty good approaches. If you play rock, and want to have a multi effect device that is easy to carry and easy to set up, you got to have this guy.

Great Value Modeller

The V-AMP 2 is pretty comparable to the lower end PODs, but at a way lower price point. Decent sounds. I wish it had some stomp box models (like a TS) but really for the money you can't complain. Some of the presets especially the trippy ones in the upper banks are basically useless, but oh well, they're just for demo anyway. Wish the power supply was a standard AC connector, but POD doesn't do that either. Nice to have the foot pedal, but if you're using this on stage you'll probably need something like the FCB1010. Not *too* hard to use, but you'll definitely need to read the manual to get the most out of it. I would put it on par with the POD 2.0 with some sounds better, some worse. Construction is ok. The knobs feel a bit cheap, but the casing is reasonably solid. It's very thick plastic, not metal, so it just doesn't have that heft of quality that the POD does. A controller with an expression pedal or a volume pedal is a must.

Good for the Money

I had a Zoom 505 for the longest time. I figured I would upgrade to something a little better, but being a hobbyist, I didn't want to spend the extra dough on a Line 6. This is by far the best effects/modeler I've heard for the $100 price tag. Sure, you can spend double and get a Line 6, but if you already knew that, you wouldn't be reading this review. I've used this on some recordings, and it sounds fine. However, people who are gear heads and people with finely tuned ears will be able to pick it out as a modeler easily. As for me, the Rectified High Gain setting sounds enough like a Mesa Boogie to me that I'm still happy after 2 1/2 years of use. Buy this if you are looking for an inexpensive way to crunch up your guitars. Effects are minimal, but every setting sounds recording ready.

1 drawback!

I love this unit but I've had 1 drawback I've had to replace the power supply 2 times the pins are very weak that plug into the unit! Beheringer may want to make a stronger pin set on the plug side that goes into the unit!
