  • Surprisingly good amp

As reviewed by John Bender on 6/27/2008

I got this head as a backup to a big-name brand amp that was unreliable. Now this is my main amp, and the other one is in the repair shop. I play upright and electric bass and this (with a 15" speaker cab) sounds great. The tone controls are very responsive and the amp has lots of power, even when I played with a five-piece rock band at an outdoor festival. The line out is great for hooking into PAs, and the fan keeps the amp very cool -- key for hot Southern California. Only drawback is you can hear the fan running when you're playing at low volume, but when I gig, I couldn't hear it over the other musicians. The ultrabass switch makes a room really rumble. Fun, but not sure when I'd use it on a gig. It's solidly built, too. My roadie dropped it on the sidewalk. It marred the plastic case, but the amp still works perfectly.

  • My first Gig Rig

As reviewed by David Timmons on 2/29/2008

I bought this amp and the bb410 cab as my first gigging bass rig. The balanced output makes it easy to plug into a pa system. I also love the the 1/4" out can be used to keep a tuner in use throughout a session, or gig. Two channels, one clean and one dirty with a shape filter gives me a wide array of tones. Just when I thought I heard it all, I hit the ultrabass function and gained another octive to my tone... wow! For the price, this German engineered head is full of options. I only wish it had a little more power...the cab matched with it is rated for a lot more. It is true that you get what you pay for... but with this head, you get a lot for the money!

  • Funky

As reviewed by B. Kenny on 9/3/2008

Ive had this amp for 3 months and it rocks! I was impressed by the lightweight design and the graphic eq. What really got me is how warm this amp sounds for a solid state amp and it can "run with the big boys". The footswitch does come in handy and the ultrabass is handy for when I get Funky with the Praise! I would recommend this as an extra head or if you are not doing any stadiums, this is great for your arsenal..
