Behringer K1800FX not for _loud_ playing

I was initially very pleased with my K1800FX, and it worked perfectly at rehearsals and small gigs, but when my band started playing larger gigs, and I needed to bring the volume up, it started cutting out on me completely. I called support, and they said it sounded like my amp was going into "thermal shutoff" mode, where it shuts down the amp to protect it when it gets hot. I was playing loud, but didn't have the volumes up all the way - there is no way this amp should have done that. My 150 watt Peavey KB300 never did that. My recommendation - it's perfect for rehearsals, but I wouldn't trust it at a gig where you'll be playing loud with a band and cranking up the volume.

After long search,I found it !

I had been looking for a long time for a practice amp worthy of the sound I require, and I finally found it. O.K., now let me explain. I am a guitarist, and I really didn't want to spend big bucks on an amp for practice purposes. The smaller modeling amps just didn't sound that great. I have been using a Boss Micro BR,and the COSM sounds that it comes with blow away anything I was hearing on these modeling amps. I was poking around at GC in the Keyboard Dept. when I came across this mighty little beast. Aha! I could run my Boss Micro BR thru it,and enjoy all the on board COSM sounds it has to offer. The bonuses were that it has 4 channels,so I could run a Mic on another channel, play a CD thru,a Drum machine, and even play the Harp thru it. I had never considered a PA/Keyboard amp until I found this marvel. It even has 99 Built in digital effects that can be assigned to each channel. This has got it all, especially if you're looking to do evrything yourself as I do,in the privacy of my home. It certainly has enough power to do a small gig. I can't say enough about it. I am completly satisfied. And oh, did I mention it's loud too ! As with anything you purchase, i may be right for you, or it may not be for you. But this Gem is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Behringer ULTRATONE K1800FX

I have run in stereo on my rig since 1973. Yep I'm old. I've also "been around" a bit. I was looking for a smaller rig to use for solo work. I've got a very small 10 channel mixer and thought I look at some small powered monitors/speakers instead of using the extremely heavy JBL floor cab that weigh around 85 lbs. each. They do rock though !! Anyway the powered monitor I was looking at went from around 500.00 and up. Then I strolled into the keyboard area while waiting and discovered this little gem. The k1800FX (180 watts with a 12" and a horn) comes in slightly over 40 lbs. PLUS it has the added features of a 4 channel mixer (in stereo) and input #1 also has a Lo-Z mic input. That leaves 3 channels (3 stereo with 6 inputs). A nice graphic EQ let's me balance the sound to my taste (which is picky just like everyone else, I want ME to like the sound). Amp has a "Link" 1/4" out to send to another amp (any amp) and sends it one of the stereo outputs from the mains turning your rig into stereo. Of course using only the amp by itself will result in a mono mix. After doing my homework researching this item and reading lots of reviews on many different sites, with a couple of people mentioned buzzing problems (which were repairable - it happens to a lot of amps, not just this model) here's what I decided. At half the weight of my previous rig (not including the power amps, etc) and at a very reasonable cost compared to powered monitors, I bought 2 of these to run in stereo. Now, here's my reasoning on another level. IF and I say if one should need repair I can still get through a gig with only one as each has a mixer built in.!.! And here's the best part. It cost me HALF as much. Wow, is that cool or what? Enjoy, I am... Peace.

I recently purchased this amp..used studio's for months wanted one of my own. Found it was on sale and in stock @ GC!! One nite after a session unloaded and discovered that the button fr the processor fx and one of the leds on the eq had become detached amp was still functional: researched Behringer online..They don't fix they "Exchange" wow what a cool concept they definetly gained my respect and loyalty..GC was cool too they said I qualified for the exchange..and boom I had a new amp ..Thanks GC & Behringer for remembering the customer is always right..the long dollar not the short quick sale will keep your customer smiling and spending w/ you.!!!

Disappointed User!

I was warned about purchasing a Behringer amp...The word is that they blow up under preasure. I purchased several Behringer outboard products in the past and were satisfied with them. Therefore, i figured those warnings were subjective. WRONG!!! I took my "Brand New" Ultratone K1800-Fx out on a gig yesterday, however, 20 minutes into my performance the amp started making a horrible buzzing and crackling noise. I had to keep shutting it on and off...eventually i could not continue with an auditorium filled with people gathered for a birthday party. I was performing solo using backing tracks played through my laptop, Vocal mic and my acoustic guitar. I am now embarrased and humiliated for spoiling what had started out being a fun party. My confidence is "shot" when it comes to risking using another Behringer amp.
